Going Away
"Signe, you're in danger!"
Signe jumped in surprise when PJ appeared in front of her, his eyes wide in fear and concern.
"I know, I just had a lovely chat with Crowley." Signe winced, her head throbbing with more intensity.
"Wait...I can't see your wings. What happened?" PJ demanded.
"I...I fell from grace. I'm a human PJ." Signe admitted remorsefully, her gaze dropping to the ground.
"Oh my god, did Naomi..." PJ trailed off as he ran a hand through his curly hair.
"Yes, same for Amy." She whispered softly with a short nod.
"There's gotta be a way to get your grace back, I'll have Robin and Marzia help." PJ promised.
"Thanks, but right now we need to worry about Crowley first." Signe reminded him.
"Right, can you keep an eye on him since he's in your area? He must be planning something here." PJ mused.
"Okay, can you take me back to Sean?" Signe asked hopefully.
"Sure, make sure he stays safe." PJ pleaded as he grabbed her hand and flew her to Sean's living room before disappearing out of sight just as Sean woke up.
"Top o' the morning to ya Signe." Sean yawned as he stretched his arms high over his head.
"Morning." She replied warmly, struggling to restrain a yawn of her own.
"What happened to your clothes? They're soaking wet!" Sean exclaimed as he touched the sleeve of her shirt.
"I took a walk in the rain this morning." Signe explained sheepishly, feeling her face heat up in embarrassment.
At least I didn't have to lie completely, Signe thought happily.
"Here, I have so clothes you can borrow." Sean told her before walking into his room. He returned a few moments later with a baggy black sweater and jeans with black shirt boots as well as a pair of too big socks in hand.
Signe gratefully accepted the clothing before going into the bathroom and changing into it, glancing into the mirror once she finished.
Her face betrayed her weariness no matter how wide she smiled in the mirror, her eyes glinting with poorly hidden fear when she though of what the future would hold for her.
She shook her head to dispel her thoughts before walking out and finding Sean on his knees on his floor holding a bright red scarf close to his chest, his eyes shining with unsure tears as he hugged the fabric close and breathed in its scent.
"Sean." Signe spoke up hesitantly.
Sean jumped in surprise as his head shot up to look at Signe, his expression full of sadness even though he smiled through his tears.
"Hey Signe, um, what's up?" Sean asked as he gingerly placed the scarf on his bed.
"I should be asking you the same thing." Signe countered.
"Oh, I'm fine, really." Sean lied, wiping his eyes to dispel the tears.
"You're not though...you're crying." Signe pointed out as she entered the room, kneeling down in front of him.
"What's wrong?" Signe asked gently, lifting his chin up with her hand so she could look into his broken blue eyes.
"I-I'm so alone, always alone, I deserve to be alone." Sean rambled, his jaw quivering as tears welled back up in his eyes.
"You'll never be alone again, I'm right here." Signe soothed him.
"You're a complete stranger, I can't believe what I'm doing! I just wanted someone back in my life that would love me for who I am, but..." Sean trailed off with a sigh.
"I never wanted this." Sean shook his head.
"What do you mean?" Signe prompted.
"Inviting a stranger into my house, taking care of them without even knowing them!" Sean blurted.
"You-"
Signe broke off, realizing that he was right.
He didn't know her.
Not really.
"You're right...I have to go." Signe decided, standing up and briskly walking out of the room.
Sean remained silent as he listened to her leave, the door slamming shut behind her.
Once she was gone, he picked the scarf back up and held it carefully in his hands as if it was made of glass.
"I wish I could've made this work." Sean whispered as he laid the scarf back down before disappearing into his recording room to explain why he hadn't posted in awhile.
