THE NEXT MORNING. serene woke up to find vance gone , she let out a soft sigh and began getting up to get ready. she did not wanna go to school nor was she n the mood after that fight yesterday. 

she went to the bathroom and took a shower. coming out of the shower looking at herself in the mirror, she had a bruise on the side of her head near her right eye  and a fucked up cut on her lip, she quickly put on a basic black tank top and jeans overalls with sneakers. she began putting on her makeup to cover the bruise and the cut when she was satisfied with how she looked, she got up, grabbed her bag and went down.

''mami, you awake?'' serene shouted as she went down the stairs. ''in the kitchen mija'' her mother shouted back. serene quickly made her way to the kitchen greeting good morning to her mother. Camille shot her a look that serene couldn't quite explain.

''what?'' serene questioned her mom looking at her suspiciously. ''nothing'' Camille shrugged going back to making the pancakes. ''no you're giving me a look'' Serene shot back at her mother. ''what look? i'm not giving you a look?''. without saying anything serene shook her head too tired to try to understand what her mom wants.

''Mami, it's almost 8 please hurry up'' serene muttered in frustration. Camille put the pnacakes in front of her. ''¿Te importaría decirme qué te pasa? estás frustrado y enojado''. ''no es nada mama estoy bien''. serene says in a quiet voice before eating quickly so she won't be late for school.

''when you're ready to talk, i'm here mi amor''. Camille remarked while holding her shoulders before kissing her forehead. Before serene could even say anything , the mother and the daughter heard knocking on the door. Before serene could get up, her mother beat her up to it.

serene could hear mutters, she got up to see who it was frustrated she couldn't guess who was at the door. she stopped in her tracks when saw vance. ''vance what are you doing here?'' serene said wondering what the hell he was dong at her door when he should be at school.

''I came here , thought we could go to school together''. he replied with his hands in his jeans. ''oh yeah um sure let me just grab my bag''. She commented quickly before running to grab her bag while he stood there chuckling at her cuteness. neither of them noticing Camille's stare at both of them.

'' okay let's go''. she came back with her bag stating that she was ready to go, quickly saying goodbye to her mother, grabbing his hand and closing the door behind her.

They both walked in silence, neither of them knowing what to say. serene decided to break the silence. '' so um you left early, i didn't hear you leave'' she declared looking at the street ahead of her not wanting to look at him.

''yeah um just my dad was gonna kill me if he realised i wasn't home so uh i left at like four you were pretty much dead''. he replied chuckling. serene scoffed before laughing herself. ''what about your mom? does she let you stay out late?''. vance stayed quiet not knowing to say. serene quickly apologised realising her mistake. ''it's fine you didn't know''. He muttered quietly.

The rest of the walk was awkward and quiet, neither of them uttering a word until they reached the school. Quickly enough whispers and mutters began seeing vance and serene walking together not fighting but holding hands, of course they didn't even realise it.

serene's friends came to her rescue.''You wouldn't mind if we took her from you right.'' jenny said parting their hands grabbing serene and walking away. They both became red after realising they were holding hands the whole time.

''Girl, were you just holding hands with the vance hopper? um explain" dani commented eager to know, jenny and riah nodding their head also eager. ''t was nothing , he just walked me to school, i didn't even realise we were holding hands, it was by accident''. Serene laughed awkwardly while making her way to class.

Serene was back home laying in her bed in her pjs staring at the ceiling relaxed by the sound of the rain. suddenly vance came through the window stumbling into the floor. she sat up suddenly. ''What the hell are you doing here?'' she questioned him. She was about to scold him when she saw his messed up bloody face. Her hand covered her mouth gasping, she got up from the bed going to him grabbing his shoulders. ''what the hell happened to you? who did this? are you okay?''. vance was lightheaded, he didn't hear her clearly just muttering that he's fine. 

''You're obviously not fine. jesus'' she replied frustrated at him before going to grab the first aid kit, she came back put the chair in front of where he was sitting on the bed. she didn't want to make him mad so she didn't say anything while patching him up.

When she was done, she got up and threw away the bloody cottons and put away the first aid kit. After that she sat in front of him on the chair again.

''Can you please talk to me?'' serene spoke in a quiet voice while her hand went to hold his. she couldn't see his face, he was looking down. He suddenly got up and went towards the window  before she could see his tears. ''vance please'' she begged to try to get him to talk and even tried holding his hands but he swatted it away. ''why'' he spoke in a hoarse voice while looking exactly at serene. ''why what?'' she said confused by his questions and worried by the tears in his eyes. ''why do you care?'' he yelled at serene. she flinched by his loud voice. ''what?'' she muttered in such a quiet voice, tears began to form in her eyes. he apologised quickly after seeing her get scared of him, he would never forgive himself if he hurt or ever made her scared it was not a stranger, that was serene. His Serene. before leaving her room. 

Serene stood there not knowing exactly what just happened before running after him outside even if it was raining. so there she was standing in front of the house wet from the rain. she held his hand to keep him from walking away.

''Don't go please , you're not in the right state''. He chuckled at her ''see what i mean''he said to her. serene couldn't help but look at him in confusion. '' why do you care serene, why do you care if i go beaten up or whatever, why?''. He spoke looking directly at her. ''Because i- i care i can't help it''. She responded knowing exactly what she was saying with no hesitation. 

They both just stood there looking at each other, no one muttering a word or moving. It wasn't until serene's eyes travelled to his lips.the rain started coming down even faster. It was as if the sky was crying and trying to force them to finally express their feelings.

serene couldn't take it anymore. She leaned in and kissed vance with all the passion and intensity she had been holding back for so long. vance was caught off guard, but not for long. He leaned into the kiss and returned it with just as much passion. In fact, he had been waiting for this moment for a long time.

As they kissed, the sky roared and the rain continued its downpour. It was almost as if the universe was cheering them on, urging them to finally let go and express their feelings.

And for that one brief moment, vance and serene felt like the only two people in the world. They didn't care about anything else, not even the rain or the fact that they were getting soaked. They had finally found each other, and that was all that mattered.

After what seemed like an eternity, they pulled away from each other, both breathless and feeling like they had just experienced something incredible. ''i-''. Before serene could even say anything. ''What are you two doing out in the rain? Inside the both of you.'' They both heard camille yell at them, they ran inside before getting scolded even more, both of them smiling ear to ear.
