Chapter XXI
Apollyon did not get better with a night's rest. In fact, it seemed to get worse. He threw up in the morning, was burning hot, and shivering like a leaf in the wind. She tried to feed him some soup, but he didn't have it in him to drink it all. Eventually, Eleanora had to continuously make rounds between her apartment and his, because he didn't have some of the required material, where as she did.
For the umpteenth time, she entered Apollyon's apartment, holding medicines in her hand as she leaned against the wall.
"God, this would have been so much easier if we lived together." She grumbled under her breath before making her way into his bedroom. For the next two to three days Eleanora took care of him, while Apollyon continuously reminded her to take her medications. She find it rather peculiar how he could continuously pester over her while he was sick.
Eventually after three days, he was finally in top health, and Eleanora was exhausted after all those sleepless nights and checking his temperature every few hours. Now, Apollyon insisted that she go and rest for a few days and that he wouldn't bother her as much.
Three days later, Eleanora awoke to her doorbell ringing through out the apartment. Yawning, she stumbled out of bed and pushed her bare arms into her robe. Pattering across the floor, she pushed the hair out of her eyes and opened the door slightly to peek her head out. Through squinted eyes, she could make out Apollyon's face as he was smiling broadly at her, holding a box in his hands.
"Apollyon?" Eleanora spoke through sleepy confusion while opening the door more to allow him entrance.
Apollyon entered with a box in hand as he placed it down on the floor, and behind him followed two other men, also holding boxes and suitcases. Seeing the anonymous men enter after him, her mind awoke with panic as she hastily fastened the front of her robe, looking between Apollyon, the men, and the boxes that were being brought in.
In confusion, she grabbed hold of Apollyon's arm and dragged him to her bedroom. Closing the door behind her, she turned to face him with an expectant look.
"What?" He questioned in confusion.
"What the hell is going on?" She asked while crossing her arms over her chest.
"Moving?" He questioned in confusion,
"What do you mean moving?" She hissed silently.
"Well, when you were taking care of me, I heard you say that it would all have been easier if we lived together, so I am making it all easier."
"Wait, wait, wait!" Eleanora halted him in astonishment. "You are moving here with me?"
"Well, yeah." He shrugged nervously and stuffed his hands into his jeans pocket as he felt like he did something wrong.
"Apollyon." She scoffed in astonishment while placing a hand on her forehead. "You can't just move in here! I only have one room-"
"So? We anyways sleep together." He contradicted.
"You don't get it!" Eleanora exclaimed. "You know what? I can't deal with this right now, take your stuff and go back to your apartment." She stated matter of factly as she pushed at his back.
"B-but..."
"No, you simply take your belongings and go back to your own apartment!"
"I can't!" He exclaimed while spinning out of her way and turned to face her.
"And why not?" She asked crossly, standing with her hand on her hips as she looked like a scolding mother with ruffled hair and flushed cheeks.
"I-I...I gave up my lease." He muttered softly while looking down at his feet and fidgeting with his fingers.
"What?" She inquired while craning her neck. "You what?"
"I gave up my lease?" He spoke uncertainly as he backed away slowly, thinking that she was about to explode, but was surprised when she released a breath and pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Apollyon." She sighed softly as she saw the apprehensive expression on his face. Stepping forward, she cupped his face in her hands and leaned her forehead against his. "You should have asked me before you took such a drastic step."
"I'm sorry." He spoke sincerely as he interlaced his fingers with hers that were holding his face. "I-I just didn't want you to stress yourself over this, this is why I thought it was a good idea. I would have gone to Mrs. Scott to renew the lease, but the new people have already started to settle in."
"Already?" She chuckled lightly. "We'll have to sit down and discuss everything, very seriously at that, too. No beating about the bush, alright?"
"Alright." He grinned in response as he rubbed his nose against hers, which resulted in a slight giggle form her.
Pulling away, they walked out to the lounge where there were boxes and suitcases stacked and placed together. There wasn't a lot of stuff to set, but it would take up their entire day, no doubt about that.
"Alright, whats in the cartons?" Eleanora questioned with her hands on her hips.
"Crockery, small decorations, my vinyl records and the player, books, shoes, a few kitchen utensils, and...I guess that is it."
"And in the suitcases are your clothes?"
"Yes."
"Alright." She sighed followed by a yawn. "Let me change first, then we should get started with the boxes."
"Okay." Apollyon nodded as he went to the kitchen and she made her way into her bedroom.
Once she stepped out in a pair of jeans and an old sweatshirt, she was greeted by Apollyon calling her form the kitchen. Walking there, she looked at him expectantly as he was leaning against the counter and drinking a can of coke. He nodded towards the small dining table across from him as she turned her attention towards there and was surprised to find a plate with steaming waffles covered in peanut butter, topped with cream and melted chocolate.
"Waffles." Apollyon stated after swallowing his drink. "You're favorite."
Eleanora smiled broadly as she made her way over to him, placing a kiss on the tip of his nose as he looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes, my favorite." She agreed. "Thank you."
Apollyon swallowed thickly at their close proximity as his eyes zeroed in on her pink lips. Unconsciously, he licked his own lips as he started to lean down, but she pulled away and settled down at the table. Taking a bite of the meal, she moaned at the taste that danced across her tongue.
"You're really good at this!" She exclaimed while pointing at the plate with her fork before taking another bite full. "What did you do?"
"I mixed cinnamon into the batter." He informed as he sat down across form her. "You said that you loved cinnamon, peanut butter, cream and chocolate on your waffles and pancakes, but didn't understand how to make them work together, so I did for you."
"Okay, so there is cinnamon in the batter, the waffles are topped with peanut butter with whipped cream on top and drizzled with chocolate syrup?" She confirmed.
"Not chocolate syrup per say, melted Nutella." He smiled while leaning forward and took some cream and chocolate onto his finger and popped it into his mouth with a devilish smirk, ironic, considering that he was or is the devil. "Do you like it?"
"It's awesome!" She exclaimed while taking another mouth full and chewed on it. Apollyon chuckled at her as he stood from his place. He placed a kiss on the top of her head before making his way out. Eleanora sat at the table as she savored the taste of the breakfast Apollyon made for her.
Her mind shut out all thoughts as she just savored all the combined tastes that assaulted her senses. She didn't even realize that Apollyon had entered the kitchen again, and became startled when he placed down a glass of water for her.
"Whoa, slow it tiger." He laughed as she jumped as the glass was placed in front of her. "Here." He informed while placing down her prescription bottles and taking out the pills one by one before placing them into her hands.
"You have been taking your medications regularly, right?" He inquired seriously as he watched her down the pills. "Because you didn't look too well a few days ago."
"I might have forgotten to take them once or twice-"
"Eleanora." He groaned. "You know what Dr. Harold said. You should take them twice daily so that you don't get the migraines and throw up. You always become extremely weak afterwards, and it worries me."
Eleanora looked at him sheepishly as he sighed in exasperation. Placing a hand on his hip he looked at her sternly, but shook his head at her as she was giving him a puppy dog look. He chuckled lightly before grazing his knuckles against her cheek, which resulted in her leaning into his warm touch.
"What do you wanna start with?" He inquired as he cupped her chin and tilted her head up, as he was looking down to meet her gaze.
"How about the boxes first?" She inquired gently as he ran his thumb just over the skin of her chin.
"The boxes contain a lot of stuff, all for different locations." He informed huskily as the pad of his thumb grazed her bottom lip. "We could start with the kitchen?"
"Yeah, sure." She spoke breathlessly as he pulled away from her, leaving her all hot and bothered. He made his way out as she stood up to follow him after calming down her heartbeat. However, before she could even take a step towards the doorway, Apollyon returned with two cartons in hand.
"Shall we get started?" He questioned as he placed down the cartons onto the table. Both of them took all the utensils and crockery out of them and placed them in the designated places as they needed to empty a cupboard in order to accommodate everything.
Once they finished with the kitchen, they delicately handled all the decorations and settled them into places, leaving some of them in the box because they didn't want to cramp the living space. Now all they had left was the clothes.
Opening her closet doors, Apollyon was greeted by the sight of numerous clothing articles either hanged, folded, or in drawers, all very neat and well kept. And full.
"How about we take out your clothes out first and see how many clothes you have?" Eleanora suggested as she rolled in one of the suitcases. Apollyon nodded and brought in the other two. Taking out all the folded clothes, they took a look at his belongings then at her wardrobe.
Apollyon had one suitcase solely for his leather jackets, coats and snow jackets. Eleanora and Apollyon squabbled back and forth as they tried to decide how to fit in their clothes. They eventually settled on parting the wardrobe 50/50. Eleanora took out her clothes from half of the closet and started to put Apollyon's in the free space, while the man himself was looking through the clothing articles she had just placed down onto the bed.
"Apollyon!" She called out to the Devil as he held up a simple short black silken gown.
"I've never seen you wear this." He stated while looking at her flushed expression as she grabbed the silken material from his hands.
"Because this is for summers." She spoke softly as she started to hang his leather jackets onto the rod. "Are you gonna help or what?"
Apollyon started to place the folded shirts and jeans onto the shelves as he noticed that Eleanora still seemed slightly flustered.
"What is the black gown for?" He asked curiously as he noticed her tense.
"It's...It's a night gown." She informed slightly hesitant.
"Like, you wear it out at night?"
"No. I wear it to sleep." She informed as she continued to place his jackets onto the rod. "It's a sleeping gown."
"Oh." He nodded with realization. "Where should I put the shoes?"
Eleanora sighed in relief as he let go of the conversation and told him where to place his shoes. At the end of the day, Apollyon Masters had officially moved in with her. They both were too tired to cook, so they simply ordered a pizza. Both of them sat down on the sofa together, eating pizza while cuddling together while watching T.V.
Once they had had their fill, they both got changed. Eleanora was surprised to find Apollyon sitting on the edge of the bed, waiting for her to get out.
"Do you need to go?" She inquired as she walked forward and picked up Sebastian.
"No." Apollyon shook his head. "I was waiting for you."
"Why?" She chuckled as Sebastian climbed onto her shoulder.
"So that I could fall asleep with you." He smiled at her brightly as she stopped stroking Sebastian.
Sighing tiredly, a small smile made it's way across her lips as she went over to the bed. Lifting the duvet, she got under the covers and snuggled into them, as Apollyon smiled down at her from the other side. Grabbing the neck of his shirt, he pulled it off and tossed it to the foot of the bed and before turning off the lamp.
Getting under the covers, he pulled Eleanora to him as he buried his head in the crook of her neck, his arms wrapped around her waist and his legs tangled with hers. She smiled down at him as this was how he generally held her when sleeping. Bringing her arm around, she wrapped one around his shoulder and messaged the back of his head.
He hummed in content as he moved closer to her, the heat radiating off him as Eleanora was slowly being lulled to sleep by the sound of his steady breathing, warmth and intoxicating-ly comforting smell of musk and diesel.
Eleanora didn't expect this day to have end the way that it did, but she wasn't one to complain, because she did actually want this.
