Hyrule City

Zelda and Link walked towards their new case. it was on a small street in the middle of the day. They had a small chat about some movies and Link decided to ask Zelda out to a proper date. Zelda agreed and Link was as happy as ever. 

When they walked towards the victim, Zelda quickly realized who it was. It was one of the people who were interviewed about the murder of Zelda's family. he was there at the time when it happened but when asked if he saw anyone, he declined and got released. Maybe he did know more, and this is what got him killed.

Link knew this of course and put his hand on Zelda's shoulder to support her. He whispered into her ear.

"It's okay, I'm here we can catch whoever did it."

What Link didn't tell her is that he knew the guy better than Zelda did. Link actually met up with him and he told him all he really knew about the murder of Zelda's family. But Link never told her. He was scared that she might get into big trouble and that she might die if she tries to go after the evidence that the guy gave him.

The victim's name was Orlando Costas. 

After a while, Zelda figured out what has happened and knew that this murder was connected to the case of her family's murder. She was more than desperate to catch the killer nothing was going to stop her. She went home because this is where she had a huge board with everything about her case. She also invited link to help, but when Link arrived he couldn't lie to her any longer he couldn't keep this from her any longer. But before he does this he wants to get her to stop working the case so she would be safe.

"You have to stop Zelda." he looked at her with guilt in his eyes. "This investigation, you have to stop it."

"Come on Link, I will be fine. I'm in control."

"No you're not, he is in control. And if you don't stop he or they will kill you, Zelda."

"What are you talking about? What do you mean they?"

"A while ago our victim, Orlando Costas talked to me. He is a thief that's why he didn't talk to you he didn't trust you. He told me that there are more killers than just Jerry Tyson. THat there is a whole organization that kills this way. With leaving smiley over the victim's body. It is a group of trained killers. Ex-military etc. He told me to never tell you because if you get too deep into this investigation, you will get killed." 

Zelda's eyes got teary. Link knew this much all the time and never told her. First, she felt pain but it was soon pushed away with anger. For 2 years she tried to catch her family's murder and he might have had the key and never told her. She backs away from Link and starts talking.

"How could you do this?"

"I was just trying to keep you safe."

Zelda shook her head and walked away.

"You tried to keep me safe by lying to me about the most important thing in my life?" Her voice was shaking and she was on the verge of tears.

"That lie was the only thing that protected you from being killed."

"Link, I didn't need protection. I needed evidence, a lead, something to help me solve this case. And you sat on it for 2 years." Link understood Zelda but he still thought he did the right thing. 

"I really can't believe you. How do you know that Orlando Costas is not behind my family's murder? How can you know that he wasn't involved? And how the hell could you do this to me!?" 

"Because I love you." Link was now almost crying as well. He told her this before but this time she didn't have a bullet in her chest. 
Zelda was taken aback by this as well. Link just continues.

"But you knew that already. You knew for about 6 months."

"Are you kidding me? Are you actually bringing this up now? After you told me that you betrayed me?"

"Zelda listen to me-"

"Listen to you?! How on earth should I listen to you ever again!? How am I supposed to trust anything you say!?"

"Because of everything we have been through together!" This was the first time Link raised his voice against Zelda. "For two years I have been right here, waiting for you to just open your eyes and see that, right here. I am more than a partner, more than a friend." He quickly calmed down though. "Every time I came into the precinct I try to get you to smile because I think that you are the most remarkable, maddening challenging, and loveable person I have ever met. And I love you Zelda, and if this means anything to you, if you care about me at all, please don't do this." Link was now crying, tears were rolling down his cheek and he tried to somewhat control himself.

"If I care about you Link? You made a deal for my life like I was some child. My life. MINE! you don't get to decide."

"If you keep going, they are going to decide. They will come for you Zelda."

"Then let them come. I want them to try to defeat me. I won't go down. Not until I did what I have to! I am here I am ready for anything!"

"Ready for what? To die for your cause? This isn't any murder investigation anymore, this turned into a war."

"If they, whoever "they" are, want war then I will bring them a war."

Link had to make a decision, he doesn't like it but he has to, for his own sake.

"There is nothing I can say to stop you is there?"

She just looks at him letting him know the answer.

"Okay, then. You're right Zelda. It's your life. You can throw it away if you want, but I'm not going to stick around and watch you. So this is over. I'm done." 

Link just left. Not saying anything else. He left her home and went home himself.

Zelda tried to hold back her tears and just went to the precinct to the team. They of course asked where Link was, she just told him that he is off the team and they wouldn't need him anyway. 

The team just accepted the fact, there was nothing they could do about it anyways and something more important was happening anyways. They found Jerry Tyson in town, and they had enough evidence to catch him so they instantly went after him.

When they were hunting him through a big house the team split up and Zelda went to the roof and found Jerry Tyson there. He was hiding at tackled her down instantly and they fought trying to reach their guns to shoot the other. After some time Zelda was overpowered and Jerry Tyson tossed her so that she was barely able to catch herself on the edge of the house. She was hanging at the side of a house with no chance to get herself back up, and she was too high up to survive the fall. 

She held on for as long as she could until she heard footsteps, not the one from Jerry Tyson, they sounded familiar to her. She screamed for help. She was sure Link was there.

"LINK! Please Link! Help me!"

All she could think about was Link and how he told her that this would happen and now she was close to death, soon her strength would run out and she would fall down into her inevitable death. 

But before she fell off someone caught her, it wasn't Link. It was Sheik with some more officers that heard her scream. She was safe, she didn't die. But Link wasn't there. At least they caught Jerry Tyson.

Before she headed home she was going to a playground the swing where Zelda and Link sat on a while ago. It was raining heavily, but she didn't care. All she had on mind was Link. And that she was foolish for letting him go like this. So despite the rain, she ran towards Link's place. She needed him.

When she arrived her clothes were dripping wet. But she made it, she knocked on Links door and he opened it.

"What do you want Zelda?"

"You."

That's all she said before she fell into his arms and kissed him. Link quickly accepted the kiss before realizing what happens so he stops the kiss to ask her.

"What happened?"

"They caught Jerry Tyson and I didn't care. I almost died and I didn't care. I'm so sorry Link. I'm so sorry." She was crying heavily her face was covered in rain and tears were shooting out of her eyes. "I was close to death and all I could think about was you Link. I just want you." She leans forward to kiss Link again but he was hesitant, but after a while, he responded and kissed her back.

The kiss was very passionate. This is what both have wanted forever. The kiss only got deeper and more passionate as time went on. Both of them were touching each other all over their bodies, they were finally able to show the love they have for each other. When Link started to take off Zelda's shirt he saw the scar that was there from where she was shot. He quickly put his hand against the scar on her chest and kissed her again.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

So this is basically the end of the Story, The killer of Zelda's family was caught and Link and Zelda are together. I will write maybe one or two more chapters as an Epilogue.

Thank you for sticking through with this very messy story of mine. It was my first ever Story written, I think it got much better as more chapters got released xD
