Chapter 18: Do you remember me?

Los Angeles

Zelda was transported to the closest hospital, and the doctors prepared an operation. The whole team arrived as soon as possible. Because of Zelda's situation, they also needed a new member, so they brought who was next on the list. Revali.

When the whole team arrived in LA and was at the hospital Revali started pushing Link and screamed at him.

"This is your fault because you are too much of a show-off she might die. You arrogant son of a-"

Link tried to defend himself but was cut off by Captain Fury.

"Stop it you two. Zelda might be fighting for her life and you two are fighting about who's fault it is. The only one who is responsible is the shooter."

Inside the room where Zelda was operated was a lot of panic. She was so close to dying. She was losing so much blood and the doctors had a hard time stopping it because the bullet hit her in the lungs as well. Her heartbeat started to slow down and get less frequent.

Feeling completely useless Link, Urbosa, Sheik and Mipha started to Investigate the case, trying to find whoever shot Zelda.

"Well, what do we have?"

Urbosa puts the sniper onto the table.

"This is the gun used on Zelda."

Link looks at Urbosa.

"Don't stop there Urbosa. There have to be some fingerprints or at least DNA on it right?"

"We don't know Link, but there are no fingerprints and DNA is unlikely."

"Okay but then we can track the gun it looks like a military gun."

Mipha starts to talk.

"According to the data, this was used by Clint Barton, a U.S Solider that died 15 years ago, his body was recovered but his weapon was not."

Link loos down at the floor, scared, frustrated. Zelda was shot and there was nothing he can do, other than pray.

"There were people everywhere how did he go unnoticed?"

Sheik starts to talk.

"He might not have been unnoticed. Many people say they saw a housekeeper there, despite the fact that there wasn't supposed to be one. He blended in during the chaos and disappeared. if it was him he could be in Cuba right now."

"Then I'll go to Cuba and catch his ass."

Link looks down still thinking hard about what he could do right now.

"This doesn't make sense. All of the people there were happy that Demise was gone. It was supposed to be over, he was supposed to not hurt anyone anymore, all of his people ran away."

"I don't know bro." Sheik tried to calm Link down. "Who knows who that really was and why he shot her."

::::::::::::::::::::::::

Link goes back home, Zelda was still in a coma, he tried to think of what he should do. When he arrived at his home in Los Angeles everything felt empty, it felt like something, no someone was missing. Everything that he saw that belongs to her almost made him cry.
That was until he saw something strange on the table.

A letter?

He took it and opened it. First thing he saw was again, a red smiley.

It was from "Jerry Tyson", why did he write Link a letter.

Link starts reading.

Dear Link,

I'm really sorry I did this to your precious little woman it was necessary though.

I hope that you will now stop with your little break you planned with Zelda, and get back to the important things like me. I'm waiting for you back in Hyrule City.

With Love,

Jerry Tyson.

He really has the nerve to shoot Zelda and then challenge me like this? Link was furious he was already looking at plane tickets to get back to Hyrule City until he got a phone call.

Zelda woke up and is doing fine.

Link grabbed all of his things and rushed to Zelda. He also went to get some flowers for her because that's what you do when someone you care about almost died.

When Link arrived at the hospital he went into Zelda's room and saw Revali on his knee next to her. He tried not to show his shock and anger at Revali, but Revali got it and left.
Link looked at Zelda.

"YOu look at me, I must look really bad."

"No, it's just." Link took a short break. "I never thought I would see you again."

They looked at each other, and he saw Zelda's exhaustions in her eyes and her entire body.

"Eh, I heard you open up a flower shop so I thought I would support you."

Zelda already got tons of flowers from all people.

Zelda was able to put on a slight smile. Link sat down next to her.

"They all got here before I woke up, they are probably from the team. I don't think I'm going to live this one down Link."

"No. Probably not."

Again she was able to smile a bit.

"I heard that you tried to save me by tackling me."

"Yeah, I-" It took him a moment to realize. "You don't remember?"

"I don't remember much of anything. I remember standing in front of you and then it all went black."

Link looks down.

After quite some time he was able to tell her how he felt and she doesn't remember. He couldn't believe it.

"You don't remember..." He stopped there. He knew she didn't.

She saw the pain in his eyes, she felt guilty.

"They say there are some things you better not being remembered."

"Yeah, probably."

Link was hurt, what is he supposed to do now.

"I'm really tired now Link."

"Of course." Link got up and felt guilty for maybe pushing Zelda too much. "We'll talk tomorrow."

"Do you mind if we don't?"

Link turned around, he felt like someone just shot him in his heart.

"I just need a little bit of time." Zelda finished her sentence.

"Sure." Link tried to play it down like he wasn't hurt. "How much time?"

"I'll call you okay?"

Link could merely nod, and then he left, his heart was ripped apart. What has he done? Why did this happen?

The whole team and Zelda returned to Hyrule City. Link never heard anything from Zelda for quite some time, he just realized that one time when he came home, all of her things were gone and he had no clue where she went.

Zelda was still recovering she didn't work for three months, Link worked with the team every day not taking a single break. That was until Captain Fury got injured and a new Captain came in and kicked Link out of the team.

After 3 months Zelda returned to her job and met Urbosa and Mipha, they were happy to see her up and well again. The whole station started clapping as she walked in, they were all happy to see her again.

Urbosa started talking.

"It's okay you don't have to make excuses, we know you just missed us."

Zelda shook her head.

"Shut up." Zelda and Urbosa laughed.

"So anything?"

Mipha shook her head.

"No nothing, we got no clues."

"What about the housekeeper?"

"He's a ghost no one knows what he looked like and we can't find anything, but didn't Link tell you about this?"

"No."

Urbosa was confused.

"That's weird why would he hide that information from you?"

"He's not hiding we just didn't talk for a while."

Zelda tried to avoid the topic.

"How long is for a while?"

"Since the shooting."

Urbosa and Mipha were in disbelief they knew they both liked each other.

Zelda started to walk away but Urbosa followed.

"What? Why?"

"Nothing happened I just needed some time."

"He just left you alone for 3 months?"

"It's not his fault, I told him I would call."

"Why didn't you?"

Zelda didn't answer, she knew why but she doesn't want to talk about it.

"He was with us every day working until the new Captain kicked him out, he said that he doesn't need someone who pretends to read minds on his team. His name is Rhoam King. Also known as Iron King."

Zelda saw him walk and instantly saw why that was his nickname, she was definitely in the army for a while.

"Alright so I got something to work on, you take the time you need."

Urbosa left. Leaving Zelda alone.

Link was here all the time, not taking a break in months and she didn't even call him. I gotta see him right now but where was he?

That wasn't hard to figure out. Link loved being with people so he does what he does best, entertain people and make their day better. He was doing shows performing tricks as a mentalist.

She needs to see him as soon as possible, but will he forgive her?
