Profound Bond
Dean awoke to the sound of Sam's laughter. He was sitting on his bed, his back facing Dean. He was talking on the phone.
"Don't worry. It's not a problem. He knows already," Dean rolled his eyes, realizing who it was. "Actually, he figured it out a while ago.... I don't know when.... Yeah, like that's gonna happen.... Okay, love you too. See ya." He hung up the phone and sighed happily. He shoved his phone in his pocket.
"Was that Gabey?" Dean asked in an almost child-like voice. Apparently, Sam was not aware Dean was awake, as he jumped like a yorkie. He turned to face Dean.
"Don't do that!"
"Come on, Sam. Ever since he showed up, apparently not dead, you have been acting so friggin gooey. I can't stand the sight of it." Sam scoffed.
"Well, he's coming over today. To the bunker, once we get there." The reason they stayed in a motel room is because the best of vamps they hunted was in Austin, Texas. So instead of driving, they decided to stay at a motel until morning. Dean gave him a shocked look.
"You're kidding me, right?" Sam smirked.
"You wish." Dean sighed.
"Awesome. Well, if he's going to the bunker, I'll see you in Chicago. I'll order us some pizza." Sam sighed.
"Come on, Dean. He's changed since the last time you saw him. He's different. And, just for the record, he died saving our asses." Dean groaned in defeat.
"Fine. Let's go see the bastard." Sam chuckled.
"That's the spirit."
-------------------------------------------
They drove to the bunker, Dean grinding his teeth most of the way. Once they arrived, Dean sat in the library, his arms folded over his chest. He looked as though he were a small child who just threw a temper tantrum. He was not very happy with this at all. This was the same dick who killed Dean for a hundred Tuesdays. The same asshat who made them live through those TV shows. The same douchebag who pulled those deadly pranks as a nice little introduction. Although, he knew Sam had a point; Gabriel did die saving their asses, and he knew it. He also lead them to defeating Lucifer by shoving him back in the cage. But before he could think about this more, he heard a flutter of wings behind him. He turned around quickly, only to find that it was just Cas. He sighed with relief.
"Thank god."
"Hello, Dean." Cas gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"What the hell was that?"
"That was called a kiss."
"I know what it was. Why did you just give me one?" Cas tilted his head slightly in confusion.
"I thought we were...intimate."
"Not that intimate. We might have had casual, meaningless sex--something I never thought I'd say to you--but, news flash, that's what I do." Cas's eyes were looking more and more like a lost puppy's.
"So no kissing?"
"No kissing," Dean looked up at Cas. He was staring at the ground awkwardly. Dean sighed. "Maybe on occasion when we want to make someone uncomfortable." Cas smiled a little, but tried to hide it. He looked at Dean.
"Okay."
"So, have you heard?" Cas looked confused again.
"About what in particular?"
"Gabriel's stopping by because my brother's an idiot." Cas nodded in understanding.
"Ah, yes. I have heard."
"I just don't get it. I thought I raised the kid better. I'm not talking about the fact that Sam's a dude and so is Gabriel. It's just that...this is Gabriel we're talking about. So what in the hell does Sammy see in the guy?"
"Oh, I don't know," An all too familiar voice chimed in. "Charisma, humor. Good looks perhaps. Maybe it's all of the above."
"Oh, hello, bitch."
"Hello, douchenozzle."
"Guys," Sam interrupted. He looked at Gabriel and smiled. "Hey, Gabe." Gabriel smiled back, pulling Sam in for a long, warm kiss.
"Hey, honey," He looked at Cas. "Well, well. If it isn't good ole 'Asstiel'. Long time no see." Cas sighed.
"Hello, Gabriel." Gabriel chuckled.
"Now, is what I heard true? Are you lovers in the nighttime?" Dean gave Sam a disapproving look.
"You told him?" He boomed.
"I'm sorry, it just slipped out."
"'Just slipped out'. That is a piss-poor excuse."
"Oh, come on, guys!" Gabriel exclaimed. "Can't we all just get along?"
"No!" Dean yelled. "Not with you in the room!"
"DEAN!" Sam roared, causing everyone to shut up. "Listen to me! Gabe has changed, believe it or not! If you could just look past his mistakes, maybe you wouldn't be so goddamn blind! And if you can't, well, tough. Because," Sam grabbed Gabe's hand. "this is the man I care about."
Dean just stood there, dumbfounded. It took him a while to speak.
"Mistakes?" Dean hissed. "MISTAKES?! This is the same son of a bitch that killed me countless times, put us through hell! He's been messing with our heads, and I bet that's what he did to you! That's why you care about this arrogant, rotten-to-the-core, self centered--"
"Dean!" Cas interrupted. Dean turned to look at him. "Perhaps we should hear him out. He might be able to explain his actions."
"Explain?" Dean repeated.
"I agree with the Columbo angel." Gabriel said.
"I don't understand that reference." Dean sighed.
"Alright. But only because I'd love to see you try and explain." Gabriel sighed as well.
"Look, I know I was a dick, and some of the stuff I did was pretty bad."
"Pretty bad?" Gabriel held up his hand to silence him.
"But that's only because I've never met anyone like Sam. Sure I've had some dirty whores, but that wasn't quite enough. Sam truly changed me. And I can't thank him enough for that." He smiled. Dean just stared at him like he was crazy.
"You're joking, right? You expect me to buy this?"
"I don't care whether or not you buy it, but the truth needed to be said." Dean didn't know what to say. Everyone seemed to buy this dumb charade. But not Dean. He knew Gabriel was bad news, and he was gonna do something about it. He was gonna prove it.
