Chapter 8
Parting
The air in Mollie’s apartment continued to grow cozier as time seemed to past by. However, the single angel within the space was slowly growing more and more anxious during the same amount of time. His eyes were fixed on Mollie as she was slipping a jacket over her uniform for work. SeokJin bit lip while observing her thrown a single strapped bag over her shoulder, all while slipping on a pair of heeled boots. Today was hectic for Mollie, her shift at Cafe Serendipity was much longer than usual- seven hours. Her classes would then go until ten after a two-hour break after work. By the time Mollie gets home, she’s too tired to even cook dinner. The night usually results in take away, which is not too healthy for her if it continues on.
During the time being, Mollie offered SeokJin to stay in her humble home while his wing healed. He was in terrible shape last night, he needed time to regain his strength so that he was well enough to go looking for his special one. However, deep down she hoped that SeokJin would treat this place as his own home, and feel comfortable enough to return to it when he grew tired. She felt nothing dangerous about the angel- he had made it very clear to her that he meant her no harm before. Mollie understood him wholeheartedly; it was terrifying to wake up in an unknown place. She felt that he very kind-hearted and considerate, oddly enough, she adored that about him.
As she finished preparing for her shift, Mollie turned back to SeokJin, who was looking directly at her. She tilted her head in worry, seeing the uneasiness in his eyes. Fixing her bag, she slowly sauntered towards the tall man, maintaining eye contact with him.
“SeokJin, what’s wrong?” she asked in a thoughtful voice, genuinely concerned about him.
The angel frowned deeply, looking the coat and boots clothing her form. It meant that she was leaving, and he was afraid that she wasn’t going to come back. He felt very attached to her, despite it being only a few hours since they smoothed things over. He didn’t want her to leave, but he knew he couldn’t control what she does because he had no right to. She has her own life, and he literally crashed it. However, SeokJin couldn't seem to let her go.
Mollie placed her hand on his shoulder, squeezing it ever so gently. The angel kept his eyes fixed her's, trapped within the pure blue. With delicate hands, he reached towards her face and cupped her jaw into his palms.
"Do you have to go?" he whispered, pressing their foreheads together.
The young woman closed her eyes slowly, soaking in the warmth from the man's hands and forehead. SeokJin's heavy breath danced across her cheeks and nose, sending shivers down her spine. However, she nodded against his hands- the pads of SeokJin's fingers gently pressed into her cheeks, wishing that she shook her head instead. He wanted to hug and hold her tight. SeokJin didn't know why he was feeling this way, but he couldn't help himself. It felt so natural to have her in his arms, conflicting his earlier thoughts about why he came down to earth in the first place. Nonetheless, he continued to hold her close to his heart.
"Yes SeokJin," she whispered. "I do need to go. I promise I'll come back."
The angel stroked his thumbs against Mollie's cheeks, feeling the softness and burning blush on her skin.
"Can I at least give you a tracking code?" he asked. "Just so that I know you're safe."
Mollie could feel the high levels of anxiety coursing through his veins, and it was starting to affect her. She began to worry about him in turn, reaching up to cup his cheeks. Just like SeokJin, she found it very hard to separate herself from him. Mollie couldn't let her shift go uncovered, however- as much as her bosses are nice, they won't hesitate to get angry at anyone who doesn't take their job seriously. If allowing SeokJin to use a tracking code on her would ease his worry, then she would do it.
"Alright SeokJin, if it will calm your nerves while I'm gone," she nodded.
Mollie was slowly turned around by SeokJin, guided by the hands on her shoulders. She felt her hair be parted behind her neck, then pulled over her shoulders. SeokJin's warm fingers gently pulled the collar of her jacket and shirt back, exposing the nape of her neck. She shivered as he slid the tips of his fingers against the sensitive spot, leaving a trail of heat behind.
"Relax, okay Mollie?" he cooed softly before wrapping his arms around her smaller form.
Mollie was pulled back against the angel's chest, feeling the firmness of his muscles. For the young woman, his touch felt addictive, just having his arms around her was enough to drive her crazy. SeokJin hunched over to reach the nape of her neck, he came close enough where he could firmly press his lips against her skin. A laboured gasp passed Mollie's parted lips, as a sudden overwhelming feeling began to rise in her body. SeokJin's hold tightened around her waist, keeping her in place as he pulled away.
"There, all done," he whispered, smiling to himself as he witnessed a small lily engrave into the nape of her neck.
Mollie turned back to the angel, unconsciously reaching up to palm the spot SeokJin kissed. She felt her cheeks warm up further, the pleasurable heat of the angel's lips still lingering. Her eyes flickered up to the grinning man, only for her cheeks to burn brighter.
"W-What was that, SeokJin?" She questioned, looking at the angel in disbelief.
Mollie's heart fluttered within her chest, running at a thousand miles per second. She wanted to look away from embarrassment, but her eyes remained glued to the angel's. Not once in her life had she been kissed by anyone other than her parents, and during those times, she thought of them as quick, parental signs of affection. However, feeling an angel -feeling SeokJin- kiss her neck with incredibly plump lips, she couldn't stop thinking about it. Mollie cupped her own cheeks, trying to control the pink blush on her face.
"I've created a link between us," SeokJin explained, pulling Mollie's hands into his.
The softness and tenderness of his hands were delicate against her's. For a split second, she swore that she could feel his heartbeat in her palms. She truly felt connected to him- however, she couldn't understand why quite yet.
"If I wish to, I can sense your heart rate and emotions," he continued. "However, I will not be able to read your thoughts, because of your right to privacy."
Mollie tilted her head.
"If I let you into my head, then you can?" she asked out of curiosity.
SeokJin nodded.
"Your permission is important to me, I will not do something unless you say so," he added. "Don't be afraid to ask me for something either."
"I'll keep that in mind," Mollie blushed.
With one last wave and hug from SeokJin, Mollie set out into the city. From the window in the living room, he watched as she got onto a bus across the street below. Though the bus drove out of sight, SeokJin kept his palm glued against the window.
Hey guys! Ao here 💜💜
I have some good news concerning Fallen Angel! During the week, I've written some future chapters, and those are ready to be published over the next few weeks or so!
Unfortunately, with BCP, it's honestly been a struggle to write new chapters for that book. I have no idea what it is, but I've sorta lost my mojo for that. Which sucks because most of you have been waiting for an update on that. I do have some plans on how I want to structure the plot of the book, but for now, new chapters might be scarce for another week.
I'm going to try and formulate some ideas and try to write for it, but for now, BCP will be floating around. I'm really sorry guys, I've been trying for the past couple days and it's been hard. I do honestly want to complete that book, and it bothers me that I have to leave you hanging.
I hope you guys can forgive me, it hurts to do this to you all.
~With love, Ao 💜💜💜
