Chapter 7- Changes here, changes there

(Christine's POV)

The midnight soon came and I slowly crept out of the dorm barefoot and only in a nightgown. The floor was cold, but it didn't matter all that much to me. I tiptoed through the hallways and I was soon at the chapel. As soon as I came into the room, my Angel spoke.

"Welcome, my dear Christine. I am glad you came." I smiled at the voice.

"How could I not come? I gave a promise and I never break my promises." A slight shiver ran along my spine as I sat down on the floor in the middle of the tiny room.

"Are you cold, Christine?" He asked me tenderly.

I shook my head. I didn't want him to worry with my petty problems. "No, Angel, I am fine."

I suddenly felt something falling onto my shoulders. As I looked at what it was, I found a long black cape over my shoulders. Although it looked to be cold at the first glance, it was really warming me up.

"I hope you are a little warmer now, Christine." I literally felt him smile in his voice.

"Thank you so much, Angel!" I thanked him as I cuddled into the cape. My angel then wanted me to sing some scales, so I stood up straight and still cuddled in the black cape and sang. My angel was satisfied with me, so I curled myself back into a ball and we talked until I fell asleep at the gentleness of his voice.

I woke up in the morning to Diane poking me. My sight was blurry, but I realized that I was back in my bed in the dormitories and that I was cuddled into something soft. As I lifted my bed sheets, I found a teal cape with a hood and bows lining it's edges. I had no clue as how it got there, but I then remembered my angel and I smiled to myself.

(Three months later)

My dear angel was training me for a quarter of a year and he constantly praised me. I think I am going to get kind of spoiled if this will continue. But I am glad the angel is still here with me. Not only is he my tutor, he is also my companion when I feel lonely and he takes care of me when I need help.

Also, about a week ago, the primadonna of the Opera Populaire has left due to some unknown circumstances. So, they were searching for a new singer to take the lead role. My angel left me a music sheet a few days ago and we were practicing the song each lesson.

"Angel," I asked him for about a millionth time these few days, "do you truly think I am enough for this part? Because I don't know if I am the right material for this."

"Christine, my dear," he said gently, "remember, my dear, you are more then enough. You will do amazing. Trust your angel."

I went to the casting the next day and I must say, I was nervous. My knees were trembling, sweat was slowly forming on my forehead and my heart was beating so hard, that I was surprised that it hasn't fallen out onto the floor.

They soon called me in and I took a spot center stage. I sang away and after I finished, everybody was clapping for me. I knew that my angel was pleased. I looked up and I swear I saw my angel's shadow walk across the catwalk above me.

I was shown into the dressing room in which I was supposed to stay and I soon made myself comfortable. I still had to go for a few things into my old room, so I locked the door and went on the little journey through the backstage.

As I got back into my old dorm room, I saw that all my things were already packed in a box and my teal cape, a gift from my angel, was lying on it. Diane was sleeping on her bed and snorting slightly. I was about to leave when little Diane asked me: "Christine, where are you going with a box?"

"I got a new room sweetie. I am just moving my things there." I told her. Diane pouted slightly "Don't worry, darling. It isn't like I am going to leave forever. If you would like, I could show you where I will be staying from today."

So we went into my new room togheder. I was holding my very few belongings in my arms and Diane was walking beside me, clinging to my skirt every once in a while.

When we arrived at my room, Diane just gasped with excitement. The walls of my room were raspberry colored with light pink swirls on them. The floor was made out of cherry wood and the furniture was either white, pink or raspberry, almost red color. There were a few things however, that weren't here when I came about half an hour ago.

There was a note on the vanity, sealed with a red stamp. On it layed a beautiful thornless red rose with a black ribbon tied around the stem. I broke the seal on the note and inside, it read:

Dear Christine,

I sincerely congratulate you on your successful audition. I know you will be amazing tommorow as the new primadonna. I hope you like your new room as well. I left you some dresses in the closet, so I hope you will like those too. Don't forget to come to the chapel tonight.

Yours,
Angel of Music

I walked over to the closet and my jaw almost dropped. Inside were about ten different dresses, each looking more expensive then the other. Diane crept up behind me and her eyes lit up with joy.

"Christine, these are so beautiful!" Diane squeed.

"I know." I said, still gawking at the dresses. "Angel, you are going to spoil me till death." I thought to myself.
