massive trees surrounded me, the forest and middle of nowhere. i already missed leah, being away from her killed me. the stars shined brightly, the sky clear.

"well, well, well."

i turn around relaxed, seeing him standing in front of me. his white toga glowed, he glowed.

"i didn't think you had it in you, no girl?"

"didn't tell her."

he raises his eyebrows impressed.

"the dark knight in shining armor sacrificing himself for his princess. how sweet."

he pretends to act touched, touching his cold heart. i roll my eyes, cracking my knuckles in anger.

"let's get this show on the road!"

i look behind him, seeing two fellow guardians.

"james? brian?"

they have a look of guilt in the way their eyes flickered. their wings wilted down, as they pushed the back of my knees forward. causing me to kneel, they cuff my hands with a pair of energy rings. as the three backed away from me, i look around, he begins to chant something. in an instant, i'm surrounded by a circle of an inferno.

seeing him through the flames, it's as if looking in a mirror.

                              leah's pov

i push on my pedal hard, zooming past all the buildings and houses. i was getting closer to the rural area, that was in the middle of nowhere. my mind raced as fast as i drove. please don't be gone shawn, not yet, not now. i can't lose you, we haven't even began.

after taking an almost drift while turning inside a forest. why couldn't this car go any faster?

"you have reached your destination."

my phone dings, i didn't care how to park. getting out of my car, i run through the trees. i stop hearing voices, scouting behind a tree. i look to the side, seeing... flames?

                           shawn's pov

i felt goosebumps suddenly ride up my entire body, i didn't know why. i only had that same feeling when i was around leah, or if she was near. he continues chanting, the fire getting stronger at times, and settling down. i felt myself grow more tired as he spoke, losing myself in the incantation. james and brian stood beside him, guilt and pain coated their faces.

"how can you let him do this to me?"

my voice boomed, they don't look at me, but at the ground. my so called bestfriends.

"you broke the treaty, shawn."

"by being in love? trying to save the one thing that made me human again? hearing you say that it's a law to kill her, and not love whomever we wanted is disgusting. she did no wrong."

i could tell they agreed with what i was saying, but instead, they sided with him. their fear making them cowards, leaving me to be punished. it was disappointing, really, i thought they would have stepped up. afraid not. in a second i feel my chest hurt, my heart beginning to be crushed.

i widen my eyes.

                              leah's pov

i stood in the shadows, seeing two guys behind a man with a beard and a toga. he seemed awfully young, but had a vibe that felt like he's lived millenniums. with the circle of fire i see the one thing in my life that had meaning, shawn. he had been cuffed with these yellow rings, on his knees, the bearded man chanted. i take a step outside the trees, in a millisecond, shawn groans loudly, falling to his side.

my heart drops.

"NO!"

i shout, the bearded man takes a glance at me. a smirk at his lips, the two men blocked me from reaching shawn. i stopped running, feeling a wave of power flow through me.

"i don't wanna hur-"

throwing my hands up, he flies back hundreds of feet away. the other man next to him has a face of shock, feeling my eyes burn into a white color. i felt power consume me, save him. whisking wind around me, i lift myself off the ground. i forced the wind to gradually build speed, a small tornado held me up.

while the man on the ground is whisked into the tornado, i make a sudden movement. shooting a bolt of lightning at him, he burns, shouting in pain. before his body starts to shake, his entire body turns into a bright energy. subtly blinding me, before disappearing. looking below me, i see that the inferno was still in place. shawn was on his back this time, his eyes wide and in pain.

no. i stop the wind in an instant, dropping to the ground, causing a dent around me. i'm by his side, picking him up, sweat all over him.

"stop this!"

the aggression in my voice causes the bearded man to stumble back. he had an evil smirk that wouldn't leave, momentarily stopping his chanting.

"no can do, you're much more powerful than i had thought, leah. now move."

he gently moves his hand in a down and up motion, causing me to fly out the circle of fire. seeing shawn's face become fearful, he couldn't move. he was in pain, so much. i felt like everything was in slow motion, as i flew back, my hair curtained my face. i pick myself back up, hearing him groan one last time.

panic fills my system, i don't hear the man chanting anymore. the fire was still alive, but very, very weak. my feet find themselves running to him again, the energy rings had disappeared. it was just him and the man that wanted to kill us both.

"shit, shit, shit."

i cursed under my breath, falling to my knees, i carefully rest his head on my thighs. holding his cheeks, he looked so much more paler. his eyes dark, he could barely lift his hand up. my vision became foggy from the aching in my heart.

"he has two minutes, farewell."

i don't bother looking at the man in front of us, feeling a slight breeze. i don't feel his presence anymore, only the man that i loved.

"shawn,"

i breathed, holding him as gently as i could.

"shawn, please hang on."

he smiled at me, a tender, lopsided smile that shattered the little control i had left. i began to tremble again, silently crying.

"didn't think you'd find me."

he chuckled, before coughing out a large amount of black blood.

"thank an app."

even dying he tried to brighten up the mood, my cheeks were soaked. i didn't want to laugh, i didn't feel shock. or numbness, right now, i needed to stay calm. i can fix this.

"i love you."

his voice was soft, only causing me to sob harder.

"you sound like you're saying goodbye, don't say it that way. but i love you, too."

i press a kiss against his cheek, his skin was colder than ice.

"you can't die now."

he grimaced.

"i'm working on that."

i held him even closer than ever before, hearing the trees move with the wind. he had a gaze at me that was filled with love, and embracement.

"don't worry about anything,"

i murmured, kissing him gently.

"i'-i'll heal you."

my hands were wobbly as i hovered them above his weak body. his face didn't believe that i'd be able too, i couldn't just sit here and wait for his death. i needed to do everything i could. feeling energy rush through my fingertips, the brightness flows through him. his face begins to have color, his body beginning to inflate again.

i feel hope replace my anxiety, only to have it ripped away from me. he began paling, the energy not lasting, his body crumbling.

"no, no, no this can't be happening."

i frantically tried bursting more energy, only to have it bounce off his body. i was too late, i couldn't accept this. my lips quivered in fear, i hear him breath a soft word. i couldn't make it out.

"what was that?"

stopping my actions, i lean close to his mouth. his icy lips caressed my earlobe.

"forever,"

he said.

"you've got me forever."
