It All Went Wrong
We catapulted across the rooftops, summersaulting and leaping from rooftop to rooftop until we got to TCRI.
The moon was, thankfully, hidden behind a thick brush of clouds, as were all the stars, so we were well shadowed.
I was out leading in front, followed closely by Raph, then Donnie, and lastly Mikey, who was doing flips in the air.
"Mikey, if you want us to be spotted, keep doing that," Raph growled.
"The sky is shadowed, dude! There's no way anyone could see us." Mikey responded defensively.
We leapt over another rooftop and landed running.
"Actually, the city is filled with a number of lights at nighttime, so there's still a chance of being spotted," I heard Donnie say matter-of-factly.
"Guys, we're nearly at TCRI," I warned, and we were silent for the next few minutes.
Finally, we reached the huge building that read TCRI. I crouched behind the leg of the "M" on the motel just in front of the cursed building.
"Okay, guys, that place is probably crawling with Kraang," I whispered just loud enough for them to hear.
"Yeah, so we go in and kick their metal behinds!" Raph growled, swirling his sai.
"It's not that simple," Donnie said.
"Of course it is, just like every other time," Raph argued.
"But don't you remember? Those metallic dudes probably upped their weapon quality."
"Something's gonna go up in the air soon. Give up? Okay, it's silver, and if you whack it you get the little brain toy out from inside -"
"Guys! Cut it out! Now's our chance," I whispered as a single Kraang droid opened the doors and walked outside.
"Now!" I whispered, and everyone went into ninja mode.
We stalked through the shadows as we leapt down from the building in complete silence. The Kraang droid had the laser gun in hand, but that didn't stop Raph's sai slamming into its head.
The silver droid crumpled into a heap, and the real Kraang's brain-like form wriggled out of the body, squealing.
A swing of Mikey's nunchaku knocked into next week, or the dumpster to be more precise.
We moved, without making a sound, into the building, Raph collecting his sai on the way.
Instantly, we saw about eight Kraang droids, and quickly ducked behind some wooden crates. We listened in to the conversation the Kraang were having.
"Kraang, is the Kraang's bomb that the Kraang will be needing in the Kraang's master plan in which the Kraang's bomb will be needed in ready?" A blue droid asked.
"Kraang, the Kraang's bomb that will be needed in the Kraang's master plan is ready for Kraang to use in Kraang's master plan in which Kraang's bomb will be needed in." The silver droid next to it replied.
"These dudes are giving me headaches," Mikey whispered.
"Shh," Donnie shushed him quietly.
"Kraang, I sense there are more life forces in the Kraang's secret area that the Kraang should keep a secret."
"Kraang, who are these life forms in the Kraang's secret area that needs to be kept secret by all Kraang as it is Kraang's secret area?"
"Kraang, it is those known as 'The Turtles'."
"We've been spotted! Everyone, battle stations!" I yelled to my brothers as we all leaped out from behind the crates.
I threw my dual katanas and nailed the two Kraang droids in one go. The brains popped out and ran away, squealing. I retreived both my katanas, and out of the corner of my eye I saw Donnie whack two more blue Kraang droids. Both the droids crumpled and out popped the brains, joining the other one and squealing.
I turned on a coin and saw Raph nailing two silver Kraang in the head with his sai. "Headshot!" He whooped and grabbed the brains before they could run away. He chucked them against the wall, and they were knocked unconscious.
"Why'd ya do that?" Mikey yelled as he slammed the last two blue and silver remaining Kraang droids with his nunchaku.
"So they wouldn't report back!" Raph argued.
"Guys." Donnie gasped.
We stopped fighting to see our genius brother staring at a badly hidden trapdoor.
I sheathed my dual katanas and scraped off the dirt. I tried to unlatch the trapdoor, but Donnie stopped me.
"Obviously, there's a trigger point around here somewhere. This trapdoor was crafted with Kraang technology, do you really think you could open it with brute force?" My genius brother explained as he started poking the ground.
We all got down on our hands and knees and dug into the dirt, looking for a weird contraption.
Mikey was carefully poking the ground with his tongue out the corner of his mouth. Suddenly, his finger connected with a weird metal thing hidden away in the dirt. It glowed, and the trapdoor sprung back. We all crowded around it, and Donnie reached in to find a chest. He tried to pull it out, but he nearly bent over double.
"A little help?" The purple-clad genius asked as he looked back up at us. We rushed forward and dug around the chest, trying to pull it out.
Finally, Donnie and Raph pulled it out of the dirt and were catapulted backwards with the effort. The chest clanged against the wall and fell. It clicked open.
"Woah," Mikey gasped as he drew closer to the bomb.
"Mikey? Don't!" Donnie yelled as he tried to recover quickly.
The bomb beeped three times.
"Little brother! Stop!" Raph yelled, lurching towards Mikey, but falling back down into the dirt.
The bomb beeped twice.
Mikey advanced closer, and closer still, until he was right up to the chest.
The bomb beeped one last time.
"MIKEY!"
I rammed into my little brother, sending him spiralling out of the way, just in time for the bomb to detonate.
