The doctor entered the room as Lyla sat on the bed, greeting her once she walked in, "I am Dr. Arain, and I will be treating you today. So how are you feeling?"

Lyla grimaced, "Emotionally or physically?"

The doctor just chuckled as she wrote something down, "Both would help, although I'm not a therapist."

"Well, my head is slightly pounding but other than that,I feel fine." The brunette explained as she removed the ice pack, "Will I be able to go to work after this?"

Dr. Arain sighed, "Well, first, I would like to do some testing to see if you have a concussion. Even if you don't, I don't want you moving around too much, so I would advise you return to work on Friday."

"How will I explain it to my job? It's my first day."

The woman smiled, "It's fine, I'll take care of it Lyla. For now, relax and answer these questions."

"There's no sign of any concussion, just some bruising. I want you to take it easy for a few days, do not go to sleep once you get home. And if you experience any abnormal pain or the symptoms, I want you to come back immediately. Okay?"

The green eyed teenage girl nodded as she hopped off the bed, "And my job?"

"All taken care of, now go home and get some rest." The doctor ordered as she escorted her to the waiting room where her friends and family were waiting.

"Lyla, oh my god!" Her mother exclaimed as she grabbed her chin and began to examine her, "Are you alright?!"

"She's perfectly fine, Lyla just needs to rest for a few days. But if she has any abnormal pain or symptoms of a concussion, I would like for you to bring her back immediately."

"Okay, thank you so much."

Colby began to cry and threw himself at Lyla's legs, apologizing to you while choking out sobs. Lyla smiled softly and bent down to his level, "Colby, I'm okay, see?" She grabbed his hand and let him touch her head.

The little boy sniffed and rubbed his hand across his nose, "Doesn't hurt?"

The girl shook her head, "No, it doesn't hurt."

Colby looked up at the doctor and hugged her knees, "Thank you for making my friend feel better."

She smiled at him and ruffled his hair, "You're welcome, now I wish I had something to give you for bringing your friend here immediately." The woman brought her hand up to her chin and hummed, "Oh, I know! How about a lollipop?"

He gasped and looked up at his mom for permission as she simply nodded, "Yes! Yes!" He squealed as she brought down a jar.

"Pick your favorite kind." She told him as he picked a pink sucker, thanking her as his mother took his hand and left.

Dr. Arain beckoned for the mother to follow her as Lyla and her dad stayed where they were, "I guess you won't be going to work today."

Lyla shook her head, "No, but she said I could return Friday if I was feeling up to it. Wait, she would have to clear me first."

Helen walked back towards them with a list in her hand, "Ready to go?"

The two of them nodded and made their way outside into the hot summer heat, immediately running out of breath by the time they got to the car. Austin and his family still remained inside their car as Austin rolled his window down.

"I wanted to make sure you were fine before we left." He explained, "So are you fine?"

Lyla giggled and tucked her brown hair behind her ear, "I'm fine, but I'm going home to rest now. Sorry for not being able to take you around to explore."

The boy waved it off, "Honestly, that doesn't even matter now as long as you're fine. And one more thing, my mom is afraid of getting lost so can we follow you guys back home?"

Daniel laughed as he honked the horn, "Let's go Ly! It's too hot and I'm pretty sure Austin's mom wants to get back to her a.c.!"
