1. Spilled milk
~~~ EXO - Fall ~~~
She couldn't sleep. She rolled on her bed again and again, not being able to find the most comfortable position. She groaned and simply laid on her back.
She heard soft snoring sounds from beside her, where was her best friend sleeping with stupid smile on her face, probably dreaming about unicorns or something similar. She was staring on the ceiling for another five minutes, not being able to actually close her eyes no matter how hard she tried.
Then she quietly got up and slipped down the mattress. She didn't have to worry about Bora, she was a deep sleeper, even if the apocalypse arrived, she would sleep it through, waking up and wondering, why is she the only survivor.
She put on her fluffy socks and went out of the room in the hallway. The parents were gone for the weekend, with Bora's parents, so she didn't have to tiptoe. She passed by the door to her brother's room, it was still wide open, like few hours ago. She rolled her eyes, that punk will come back wasted like an idiot again.
She went down stairs, not bothering to turn the lights on, when walking into the pitch-black kitchen. She always had a problem to sleep, it was usually better, when Bora was with her, but not even on today's sleepover it didn't help.
She got to the fridge, still without any light turned on, opening the door to refrigerator and taking out bottle with milk, blindly taking glass from the tray on the counter on the opposite of the fridge. She poured some in the glass and took a sip, leaning against the counter, her head empty.
That was when the front door creaked, alarming her about someone coming in. She quickly closed the fridge and stepped away, still with the glass in her hands. She fixed her eyes on the corner of the wall, which was separating the kitchen from the welcoming hall. She heard few grunts, coming out of someone, who just tripped over the threshold of the front door, bumping into the wall next to it.
"Shush!" one more voice added to the groans and moans, coming from as she already guessed from her brother. She rolled her eyes, wanting to get out of her hideout and help, but another voice appeared.
"Let me help you," girl spoke up. She heard shuffling, still not being able to see, who is it that brought her brother home, but she already had an idea, while her heartbeat increased as she clutched the glass with milk in her hand, trying hard to not even breath, when she saw the shadows appearing in front of her eyes, making their way slowly towards the stairs and dragging her stupid brother with them.
Her sight focused on the one, whose profile was turned so she could recognise him immediately. She wasn't really surprised to see her brother's best friend here. He was in their house almost on daily basis, he was the one who always made sure to bring that idiot of a brother safely home. Even though she saw his face every day, it never failed giving her weird feeling in her stomach. She blinked quickly, watching them disappear on the stairs right after, while she stayed still on her spot, trying to blend with the darkness of the kitchen. She realized she was holding her breath, so she released it slowly, closing her eyes to calm down.
She must get away, they will be coming down again, to leave. They can't find her standing here like a statue, but before she could even make a step from the place she was standing, she already heard steps on the stairs.
"Thank you for helping me, it wasn't necessary," the two of them appeared on the other side of the kitchen, stopping right there, obstructing the only way, to get out. She bit her tongue and stepped more into the shadow, hoping they will go away right now, without bothering to turn the lights on.
Her eyes stayed glued on the guy, who was facing the girl that helped him bring Sehun upstairs.
"It was my pleasure, I wanted to help," the girl let out in tender voice, lowering her head humbly. Jihye almost snorted out laughing, if the fact their sudden appearance made her into an intruder, didn't nail her to the ground.
"You are a good friend," he complimented her. Jihye definitely didn't want to be here and listen to him saying this to another girl. "Let me take you home," his lips spread into small smile, showing like that his sweet side. The girl lifted her head to look at him, looking suddenly weirdly determined.
"Junmyeon..." she let out. Jihye remembered the girl from the school, but she couldn't think of the girl's name at the moment. She was in the same year as Sehun and Jun. And she seemed to have her eyes set on him, which again didn't surprise her at all. Junmyeon was one of the most popular guys in the school. All the girls were hoping to get noticed by him, all the guys wanted to be friends with him. It happened to be her brother, who won the spot of the best buddy by Jun's side.
What happened next made Jihye forget about everything, only being able to stare frozen.
The girl stood on her toes and without warning pressed her lips on Junmyeon's, who was taken back by her actions the same way as Jihye. He didn't move at all, he didn't kiss her back, but he didn't stop her either. Why would the girl choose this time and place, to do it? Jihye's heart was beating painfully fast at this point.
That was when her grasp on the glass with milk loosened and she could only feel it falling down from her hand, with terrified expression she kept on staring in front of her and listened to the sound of shattering glass on the floor. The noise broke through the silence, making the other two aware of the fact, there is someone else in the room.
"What..." the girl stepped away from Junmyeon, both of them looking inside of the kitchen. Jihye felt the embarrassment washing over her body, her fluffy socks were getting soaked with cold milk already, still standing there frozen to the spot, meeting Jun's eyes, when the light went on, which was the girl's work.
She blinked quickly, getting used to the sudden brightness.
"Who are you?" the girl asked, sparking up the anger inside of Jihye, but she remained quiet, not telling the one who was visiting Jihye's house to get lost. She lowered her head down, not being able to bear his eyes on hers. He must have thought she is a creep, even though she was in her own house, she should have let them know about her presence.
She was so ashamed, not knowing what to do, she squatted down and started to pick up the shattered pieces of glass in the palm.
"She is Sehun's sister," Junmyeon mumbled towards the girl, whose eyes were glued on her, after he managed to distinguish Jihye's face. "I will take you home, go and wait in the car," he told her softly, but firmly at the same time. Jihye wanted them to go already, she thought she will pass out any minute, thanks to her heart thumping fast in her chest. She felt like crying. She managed to stay unnoticed by Junmyeon for all this time. She wasn't silent mouse, but when it came to him, she choose to be one. The girl looked like she is about to oppose, but then just silently nodded her head and went out of the house.
Meanwhile she was diligently picking up the glass fragments on the floor. She was literally praying for him to go. He was good at ignoring her, he just need to go and do what he was best at...
The figure squatted down to her level, startling her automatically. She drew back from his frame, unfortunately losing her balance as she stumbled backwards, before she knew it she was sitting in the puddle of milk. She wanted to support herself with hands on the floor to pick up her already drenched butt , but he stopped her, grabbing one of her arm before she could let it down on the floor.
The sharp pain in palm of the other one she managed to place down, made her realize how stupid she was. She winced, but kept her mouth shut, as her eyes found his. She didn't want to look at his handsome face, but their sudden proximity didn't give her any other option.
"You hurt yourself, silly," he let out almost angrily, standing up and pulling her up with him. She had difficulties to breath at this point. She couldn't ignore the touch of his fingers holding her arm, she was almost sure he must have felt the pulse on her wrist.
She wiggled out of his hold, leaving his hand just hanging in the air.
"It's okay," she breathed out soundlessly.
"Let me see it," he demanded, not touching her this time. She didn't dare to pick up her eyes. She was embarrassed to the highest point.
"It's nothing," she resisted, hearing him sigh quietly, then he just went for her injured hand taking it in his, immediately observing the small cuts, made by the glass pieces. She was surprised by his bold actions. He never spoke to her. She couldn't remember the last time there were only two of them in the room, despite the fact, she spent more time in his presence, than anyone else in the school... she actually never really interacted with this boy.
The fact he was standing in front of her now, was somehow unbelievable. She couldn't resist the urge to steal a glance at his face anymore. She studied his face as meticulously as he was focusing on her palm. Her gaze slid down his god like nose, to his full small lips, which were parted slightly. She looked over his cheeks that she always noticed first, especially when he smiles.
She needed to snap out of this right now.
This time she literally jumped away from him.
"I will clean it and wrap it up. Your friend must be waiting... I'm tired so..." she knew she was blubbering perplexedly as usualy, but this was an emergency. She was already looking enough pathetic in his eyes and there was no point at prolonging this matter. She just wished to disappeared.
He was about to say something more, but she dashed like a bolt past him, not caring she almost slipped in her soaked up socks on the tiles of the kitchen floor, not caring her butt was completely wet, or that this was probably the most horrible moment of her life and ran upstairs as fast as she could.
She stopped when she got up and stayed in the hallway, holding her breath and waiting for the front door to shut. When it finally happened, after what felt like a year, she relaxed, collapsing on the wall next to her.
If someone saw her right, her acting would probably seem to be very irrational, but it was hard for her to face him. He didn't do anything bad for her to feel this way, but that was exactly why she couldn't deal with him.
Her heart was still pounding inside her chest, almost making it hurt to the point, she just wanted to crawl to the corner and hope to survive. She almost gave in...
"Holy... that scared the crap out of me... what are you doing standing here Ji...?" the annoying voice of her brother pulled her away from the edge of the pit, making her come over it.
"Go back to bed you drunktard," she whispered, making sure to flick his forehead, knowing he won't remember it tomorrow and running into her room, while he kept moaning and rubbing the affected spot on his head.
She went to the bathroom, changed her pj bottoms and took care of the hand, putting plaster on the biggest cut and leaving the rest to breath. She didn't want everyone to freak out to see her hand wrapped in bandage. It wasn't that bad anyway.
She went to bed then, her eyes not wanting to close, not even for a minute. She was desperate, wanting to forget the situation she got into. If she stayed here, she would humiliate herself in front of him.
Bora pushed herself in the middle of the bed, cuddling Jihye a little, which gave her enough comfort to doze off for at least for few hours, before it was time to go to school.
"Jihye, time to wake little birdie," it felt like she just fall asleep, when someone was poking her shoulder, forcing her to get up.
"You know were exactly you can shove your bird, right?" she muffled into her pillow, not bothering to open neither of her eyelids.
"The location was not found, so get up or we will be late," Bora threw a pillow on her head and ran away while giggling, before another pillow, Jihye tossed, almost hit her.
"Move it," she yelled at her, before going downstairs to have some breakfast. Meanwhile Jihye dragged herself out of the bed and got ready for school. It was good she didn't need too much time to prepare and went downstairs after fifteen minutes, she was in temptation to make herself a coffee and suffer through the bitter sweet taste of it, in order to wake up.
But as she walked into the kitchen, sniffing the sweet aroma of pancakes, her stomach which was nervously knotting for some reason since she woke up, got tenser. She halted in the middle of step on the doorsill to the kitchen. Her brother was surprisingly conscious, stuffing his face already. Bora was sitting next to him, watching him with disgusted expression.
What made her freeze in the movement, was the sight of Junmyeon, leaning against the kitchen counter, watching his friend hoovering the plate with his breakfast. His posture was relaxed, he was wearing black simple sweater and denim jeans, having his arms folded on his chest. His mahogany straight hair were perfectly styled. His appearance made her doubt that what happened last night was real.
When she looked on the floor, she was left breathless, as all the mess she made, was gone.
"Morning, Jihye," that was his voice. He was talking to her. She met his eyes the next second, knowing, that she definitely did made herself look like a fool in his eyes last night. He should have just kept on ignoring her, but the fact he just greeted her, which he has never done before, put her into a panic mode.
heyaaaaa,
that would be all for the first chapter!!!
As I explained in the introduction part before, the way this chapter was written, was very unique :D
but it was fun! Trust me, having hyped drunken Spanish girl on the other side of Kakao chat, with her very keen convincing skills, gives the person the right kick!! haha she will hate me for witting this down hah, but the backstories of the actual stories are just the best!!
Anyways, I sincerely hope you like the first chapter, cuz it has this inside joke which I treasure very much and only the chosen ones will understand hah:D
Also as you guessed, this will be story placed in 'Highschool' environment and I haven't done that for some time, lets see how this will go.
You will get to know the main cast closely as the time goes, there might be few cliche parts, but I do not say it will be problem that will be concerning the main couple hah... there is a lot I have prepared, so who loves drama, pinch of cliche, love stories and our dorks, then read on!!
I will look forward to your feedback!!!
Until next time
Love ya!
