Chapter 42 : Movie Night

My morning sickness continues, and I have to admit; it's awful. Despite being called morning sickness, it doesn't actually only apply during sunrise. In fact, it chooses no time.

If it weren't for Doctor Sinclair, I wouldn't know that. She also told me that I have to keep this up for four months because that's usually how long pregnant women experience this symptom. On the bright side, having this nauseous feeling is a sign of a healthy pregnancy. And that got my point.

I wasn't sure if I really am not ready for this responsibility. But the moment I learnt that I'm carrying a child, worries morphed into unexplainable happiness.

It isn't easy to cope up with my current state, especially now that I'm hired. I'm currently on my third day at work. Even though I'm busy, I have to make sure that I eat food on time and stay healthy for my baby. Yes, it's challenging when I was all alone.

Not until Yoongi caught me. He paid an unexpected visit last Monday, and I felt sick a few moments later. Knowing him, he got suspicious to the point that he threatened to drag me in the hospital if I'm not going to tell him what's happening.

In the end, his reaction was like Garfield, who saw a lasagna freely lying on a table. Of course, he was happy for me. Everything was fine not until Jimin got into the topic.

Yoongi asked if Jimin already knew and I told him no.

Ever since that incident in his office, I felt an invisible distance between him and me. That same day, he messaged me to have dinner the next day. But guess what? He's a no-show. Lance had to pick me up at the restaurant and apologize for the sake of his boss.

Since then, I began ignoring his other messages. But this morning's was an exception.

Hey, dinner tonight? At my office. I'll have Lance pick you up after your work.

I contemplated if I should answer him. What if he shoos me away again? What if he makes me wait for nothing again? Although the idea of having dinner in his office was persuasive, I didn't reply to his message.

Once I arrived at the firm that I'm now working for, I start doing my usual job; Read business papers and check journals.

This new environment of mine is... fine. I mean, it is somehow lonely because I'm not familiar with anyone. Most employees are older than me, and no one around my age seems approachable, unlike my previous workplaces, where most people are friendly.

During lunch, I ate all by myself on my cubicle. Ever since Yoongi heard that I'm pregnant, he began packing lunch for me. It's actually sweet of him to drop by at my house during the morning before I go to work. He said it's better to eat his food instead of buying meals from the firm's cafeteria.

On another topic, of course, I haven't forgotten Ryan's favour to me. I kept dialling Ria's old number, but it's still unattended. Perhaps, she changed her network or number.

While deep in thoughts, my phone vibrated again, and it's another message from Jimin.

Please?

Then another.

I promise tonight's going to be different.

Sighing, I gave up since I could see that he was somehow trying. I send a simple thumbs-up button and return to my lunch.

=====

After work, I got out of the firm's building, and I didn't see my car. Instead, I saw Lance patiently waiting outside. "Ms. Austin," He greeted with a nod.

"Hey, uhm, where's my car?" Before answering my question, he kindly asked if I needed help with my bag, but I politely declined.

"Already back in your home," He informed.

How did he do that? My car keys are with me the whole time. I already have someone in mind, so I just took a deep breath before hopping inside a car that it isn't mine.

A little later, we're already in front of PRKR Los Angeles.

I was hesitant to go inside. I don't want to see Jimmy at any cost. His face annoys the hell out of me. And I don't want my baby to be birthed out in an instant because of my anger to him.

Lance led the way, and I was thankful for that. He walked me to Jimin's office. He knocked twice to announce his presence, but when he was about to turn the knob and let me in, that's when he realized that the door was locked.

"Give me a second," He said before fishing out his phone from his pocket. Creating a short distance between us, I stood there, waiting. I can distinguish that he's talking to Jimin. The way he answers politely to someone over the phone says so. "He's currently talking to a client," He enunciated after the call. I exhaled loudly and expressed pure disappointment. "He'll be out in ten minutes."

He better be. I whisper to myself.

Ten minutes suddenly felt like hours. I looked at my wristwatch, and it indicated that I'm already doing nothing for a solid hour and a half. Probably the reason why my stomach starts to beg for food. "Go have your dinner, Lance. I'll wait here," I told him.

He has been standing next to me, and I bet that he needs more energy than I do. "But Mr. Park said I—"

"I'll vouch for you," I smiled timidly. "Just come back once you're done." It wasn't hard to convince him. I believe he was ravenous already.

My initial plan was to leave after another ten minutes. And so I was about to. I'm already on my feet, and I just need to take steps to head to the elevator when somebody called me.

"Elish!" The slurring accent bothered me, and without me knowing, Jimin had me turning back. "Where are you going? Letsh have dinner!" He jingles his keys in his finger.

I groaned as I realized his state. "You're drunk?" I shift my weight on one foot while crossing my arms in front of my chest. Here I am, thinking that he's doing something so I waited without prejudice, only to be welcomed with his drunk ass.

His facial expression changed into bewilderment, "I'm not."

"Whatever. I'm taking a cab. Night," I waved my hand lazily and rolled my eyes.

Turning my heels, I walk straight towards the elevator. But the nearest two are occupied. I had to wait for a few seconds before it stops on this floor. Not until someone grabbed my wrist, "What the hell?" I exclaimed in shock.

"Lesh watch a movie," Jimin was standing right next to me. His breath reeks out of alcohol.

"No, I'm hungry. You stay here and do whatever important thing you have while I go home and eat," I hissed and removed his hand from my skin.

What's wrong with him? My disappointment towards him continues to grow, and I don't like it. So far, this night is the top second-worst of all. The first one being the time where he embarrassed me in front of his father.

"You can eat me," He mumbled with a childish pout.

"What?" I grimaced. He was starting to use his tactics again, even in this state of him. "No," I firmly stated. The elevator is almost there, but then Jimin pulled me away from it.

"I shaid, letsh watch a movie!" He bellowed while he dragged me in the hallway. People were staring at us and his grip, his grip hurts.

"Jimin, you're hurting me."

Although I'm just wearing my flats, his force got me struggling with it. I took a deep breath once we reached his office and he stopped pulling me like a damn bandwagon.

He closed the door, and I glared at him. "I have food in the fridge; we can watch on my computer, hm?" Jimin instructed.

"What's going on with you?" I asked. It's not like he drinks. That happens rarely and its either he's in the mood or something wrong is going on. And I strongly believe that it's the latter.

He didn't answer me. Instead, he walks wobbly to that fridge inside his office and pulls out ready to eat food in it.

Seeing how he struggles to keep himself in balance along with the food he's carrying, I go to the rescue and help him. Sighing, I motioned for him to just go sit while I put the food inside the microwave.

I hear him clicking something on his computer, probably finding for a movie to watch. I waited for five minutes in front of the machine. Carefully, I brought two bowls of macaroni to his table.

"Shit here," He tapped the chair next to his. That chair wasn't originally there, so I was guessing that he placed it there himself.

"Why are you eager to watch this movie?" I muttered. I know he's not going to answer me, so I just blur out everything I think of.

His computer screen is still black, and he stared at it for one good minute, which bothered me. "Hey, aren't you going to play it?"

"I won, Elise," He looked at me with an unknown expression. "I won," He repeated.

"Huh?" I scowled. "Just play it," I pressed the space bar to play the video.

I noticed the duration of the film, and it says it's almost four hours. At first, nothing was happening, not until I dropped the bowl on the floor.
