Chapter 36 : Cathedral's Terrace

Jimin greets me in the morning with much more delight compared to his attitude last night. I guess he can't stay mad for too long if it's her mother's doings.

Last night, I heard someone knocking on the door, and I quickly guessed that it was Jimin. It woke me up a little, but I'm too sleepy to entertain him. I can't believe this man still had lots of energy left after a long ride.

Although he promised me yesterday that we're going to various places today, he still hasn't told me the itineraries. According to him, it's a surprise in the meantime.

Instead of Lance chauffeuring us today, it's only the two of us riding the car to wherever destination we are headed. I'm still not used to the light feeling I have whenever Jimin and I are on a ride. I mean, we used to remain silent every time. It's either we just came from a fight, or we've been fighting for days already to the point that car rides are automatically labeled to be silent among us.

But seeing how we jam over the music inside the car warms my heart. The speaker keeps switching from The 1975 and Chris Brown's music. "I remember how we used to bicker over our music preferences," I remark with a wide smile. He briefly looks at me before darting his eyes again on the road.

"Hm, would you look at that? That seems history ago," He comments. His hands continue to tap the steering wheel along with the beat of the music coming out of the speakers.

"I know," I lean back on my seat. I neatly press down my hands on my thighs, gently rubbing my palms over my jeans.

Jimin told me to specifically wear something decent (as if I don't) today. So I went with wide jeans paired with a striped long-sleeve colored in the brown palette for the top. I wore my boots today as I felt like we have a heavy adventure.

I'm determined to match with Jimin. He's too fashionable, and I want to at least be on his level of fashion for once. Just while we're here in Milan. But to my dismay, this is all I got in my luggage, so I had to be creative.

My eyes follow the red arrow on the car's GPS. We're slowly nearing the 'Duomo di Milano,' so I quickly typed it on my phone and researched it. As I read the context, I begin to understand why Jimin suddenly wants me to wear proper clothes. If I ever wore short skirts, I might've denied entrance since we're going to a cathedral. "Have you went here before?" I ask.

"Yeah, with Mom," He says, and I slightly nod my head. Before I can unbuckle my seatbelt, he handed out a ticket to me. "We need a ticket?"

"Yeah, if you want to see the view from the terrace."

"Oh, cool," Is all I managed to say. Once we got out of the parking lot, Jimin reaches for my hand, and I narrow my eyes at him before taking it.

A couple more steps later, we arrived outside the cathedral, and numerous pigeons greet us. I've only seen this view in the movies, and now I'm experiencing it. "Take a picture with me." I didn't notice how Jimin had his phone raised up in the air to capture a perfect selfie.

I give my best smile despite not being a fan of photos. After some captured selfies, he suddenly instructed, "Stand there; I'll take your picture."

"No, you stand there, and I'll take your picture." I snatched his phone from his hand and shooed him away. As if he doesn't want a solo photo.

I did my very best to capture his photos at perfect angles. But it's Jimin Park that I'm taking a photo of, of course, every piece of it is breathtaking. I bet these can sell dollars.

Once finished, he gently pushes me in the middle, saying that it's my turn now. I roughly smiled amidst the bright sun and flying pigeons around me. "You look awkward, aren't you happy?" He giggled, his eyes crinkled.

"I am!" I shouted from a distance and then rolled my eyes.

"Smile, or I'll show how great I am at public display of affection," He grinned, and I gasped.

"You wouldn't dare!" Instead of answering me, he puts down his phone on the side and slowly walks towards my direction. "Fine! Fine!"

I forced an all-teeth smile, almost closing my eyes. His phone at the ready, and I can barely see his reaction behind his phone and my crappy vision.

Once Jimin is satisfied with whatever he got in his phone, he reaches out for my hand again. "I wasn't informed about a pictorial today," I remark.

"Don't you want photos to keep? You know for memories." He asked, and we both stride in the same direction, headed to the back of the cathedral.

"I love to keep memories in my heart." I know it might sound cringey, but at least I'm honest with him.

"Why?"

"Memories aren't just moments; I believe there are memories from feelings too." My statement got him flabbergasted and perhaps, convinced.

We toured around the outside of the cathedral first. Jimin said it's nice to appreciate the sculptures and ancient style of architecture the building has. According to him, the back of the cathedral is the oldest part of the building, built in the fourteenth century. I got to enjoy and learn a lot, thanks to my wonderful tour guide.

At first, I thought Jimin only goes here for fun, and because of his mother. But it looks like he's interested in the place, too; that's why he keeps coming back.

Once we got back in front of the entrance, I hold out my ticket. The moment we step foot inside, we were greeted by glamorous and breathtaking statues. Everything seems to be holy, and I suddenly felt conscious about the sins I made my entire life.

I should be burning here; I'm too sinful.

We roam around the different parts of the cathedral, and as always, I'm in awe of everything that I see.

"Let's go up?" He questioned, and I fervently shake my head yes in excitement. I immediately sensed that he was going to pull me towards the lift, but I walked in a different direction. "Don't tell me you want to take the stairs?"

"I don't," I put on an evil smile as I continue to glide towards the staircase gleefully. He sighed but then eventually followed behind me. I turn around to look at him before taking the first step out of two-hundred. "What? Isn't this a memory?"

"Memory of exhaustion? Oh, sure." He shows a great deal of disagreement with the idea. I pouted at his comment, and for a couple of seconds, we only stared at each other until he sighed. "Fine. Don't say I didn't warn you."

I mentally screech before hurrying upstairs. There are also people who chose the stairs instead of the lift to visit the terrace of the cathedral.

As we reached, I think, the fiftieth floor, my ultimate goal is not to look down and feel intimidated by the height. Jimin behind me seems to be cool, but I can see that he's already exhausted. "Think of this as a morning exercise," I try to encourage him.

"Whatever you say, madame." He took a deep breath.

We would take a couple of minutes to rest and chitchat before continuing the climb. But after a very long and difficult challenge, there's always a good prize. "We're here!" I celebrated, currently out of breath.

I ran along the terrace and realized how high we are from the ground. There's a perfect view of the city and the beloved square near the cathedral itself at the cathedral's terrace. I place my hand on the railing and feel the wind pass by me.

Jimin's arm snaked around my waist, hugging me from the back and resting his chin on my right shoulder. "I'm satisfied with our sudden hike," I giggled. It's true, after seeing this view in front of me, I feel accomplished.

We stayed there and admired the view. It didn't bother if there's only silence between us. I know that whatever we're feeling right now, there's happiness in it.

"You know I love you, right?" Jimin suddenly asked over my shoulder. His question made me smile automatically like an idiot.

"Yeah, I know."

Once more, silence enveloped us as we're both wrapped in each other's embrace. "It's a good thing; you forced me to come here."

"It is," He laughed. "We're taking the elevator after this, right?"

I chuckled louder than I expected but not enough to capture everyone's attention on the terrace. Mentally, I scold myself. It caught Jimin off guard, and he glowered at me. "Yeah, yeah, we will."
