Chapter 1 : Client

Two years later...

Elise's POV

I woke up at the sound of my alarm and it irritated me. Ever since I started working at an accounting firm I had to wake up early. Especially today, I was told that the boss is giving me a great opportunity to level up my game in my field.

The sunlight already directly hits my face so I decided to get out of bed and wash up. The quietness of my house in the morning is a reminder of how I miss my family. After I graduated, they gave me a house of my own in Glendale and I'm obliged to use it since I'm already old to still live under the same roof with my parents. Also, the house is near my workplace so it's a win-win situation for me.

Twenty-four and I'm hardly striving.

My parents even wanted me to get married, but I blew up my only chance for marriage before.

Once I got out of the bathroom with a bathrobe on, I saw my phone vibrating on my bed so I picked it up. Speaking of lost chances, Ryan's name flashed on my screen. "Hello?" I heard him sigh in relief.

"I'm glad you're awake. You know you can't be late today, right?" The hint of anxiousness is evident from his voice in the other line.

"Yeah, I'm almost done. I'll be at the office in a bit." You smiled. Ryan said goodbye so I eventually ended up the call.

It's a good thing that Ryan and I became friends after what happened. It took years for me to earn his shattered trust again. We've come up with a conclusion that we both made our fair shares of mistakes during our relationship. But I doubt that since most of my mistakes are the cause of the downfall of our romance.

Maybe we did love each other, but not as a woman and a man, perhaps as friends and we misunderstood it for two years by entering an uncertain relationship.

Aside from Ryan, Ria, and Lana, Yoongi was added to my shortlist of friends. We've been in touch with each other and we sometimes hang out. He is also my primary source of news when it comes to Jimin, but so far, he hasn't heard from him either.

It's like Jimin totally vanished into thin air.

What I feel for Jimin is still there inside my heart. It's actually quite annoying because I haven't seen him in years and yet, I still long for him. I've spent two years regretting everything that I've done before. Everything that happened with him was beautiful and it was sad that it had to end tragically.

My parents told me that Jimin's house next to theirs was sold already to an unknown buyer, meaning he isn't living there anymore.

Mayhap, he moved into his house in Beverly Hills. Although I started to doubt that thought since it has been two years and I haven't even stumble or bumped into him. But it's not like I'm prepared to meet him. I don't even know what to say or how to act. The last time he and I interacted he was disappointed and mad.

Who wouldn't? I just lied at his face and I'm even expecting that he will forgive me.

I've tried so hard to convince myself that whatever Jimin and I had is over now and that I have to move on.

Well, look who is talking.

Guess what, I haven't done that and I'm completely frustrated at myself.

I envy Serene and Jungkook until now they're together and I'm probably sure that Jungkook already scored at her. Nevertheless, I'm happy for both of them. At first, I thought their relationship will end shortly but it was mine who did.

=====

Once I reached Direct Income Solutions (the accounting firm I work in), Ryan was waiting for me on the ground floor. "Hey, what are you doing down here?" I hugged him.

"Waiting, I'm so anxious for you." He said before breaking away from the embrace. "This will be your big break," He sounds really excited for me and I appreciate it.

I know I've earned good grades my entire life and now I will be putting it into real work. The firm just entrusted me with a huge client and I will not deny that I'm getting all cold feet and I'm terrified that I might screw it up later by stuttering in nervousness.

"You'll be meeting Ms. Cami McQuiod, she is the secretary of a big company," Ryan informed me as we both head inside the elevator.

"What is the company's name?" I asked while I straighten my pencil skirt. I made sure that I wore my best office attire today to impress.

This day will ensure my future and I'm not planning to ruin it.

I was told that I will be meeting the said lady later before lunch so I spent my morning reading books and reading journals inside my office cubicle. So if ever the client will ask me questions I will be ready to answer.

After I had lunch with Ryan and some of my colleagues who are currently congratulating me in advance, I retouched my make up in the bathroom.

Later on, someone called me while I'm busy fidgeting my fingers inside my office cubicle. "Elise, your client is here." My co-employee informed me.

"Okay, I'm coming." I smiled.

"Oh, and I heard that you'll meet the CEO." He said and my nervousness worsened.

I thought Ryan said that I'll meet the secretary and not the CEO himself or herself, perhaps there is a sudden change of plans and I feel somehow nice since I've prepared enough to talk to a CEO client.

I gathered up my folders filled with files to show the client as I stand up on my feet to walk towards the direction of the VIP meeting room. I will be meeting the CEO one on one and I'm beginning to sweat in cold.

I slowly opened the door of the room and entered but to my surprise, no one is inside. Instead of spacing around while I wait for the client, I sat properly on a chair and took deep breaths.

A few seconds later, the sound of the main door creaking caught my attention so I stand up and turned around to greet the client but my face immediately fell when I saw who it is.

"Elise?" The shock was all over his face.

I slightly bowed down my head before greeting the CEO, "Good day..." I paused, unsure if I should continue with the pleasantries.

"Good day, Mr. Jimin Park." I forced a smile.
