Chapter 4

Mother Nature’s POV

“Love is wasted on the young, my friend.” I say to the Sandman as we look on at our offspring. “I remember when father time found me. It was love at first sight and he took me away that very minute.” I smile as I close my eyes remembering that magical moment.

“Tell me about it. Me and the misses thought he would never grow up and find his mate.” But is he real. He just let her leave him. Just like that. I better get home. Because he will be a bear till he sees her again.” 

“I will see you tomorrow then. I have to keep hiding from Fallon. She needs to be able to hold her own, to get her independence. She will need it, if she is to leave my side and follow her mate.”

“There is no better mate for my son than your daughter. I can’t wait to bounce a little sandman on my lap.” Sandman says as he shimmers away.” I smile at the thought. Then winter’s unruly ways pop into my mind. One more to go.

Tyler’s POV

I made it back home feeling lost and a little empty. Damn, why did I let her go? I should have told her she was mine. I breathed out as I entered my room and saw Jack still asleep on my bed. I kicked him up. “What the” he said as he fell off the bed making me laugh. He jumped to his feet looking disoriented.

“See that is what happens when you cross my bow.” He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and yawned.

“What did I miss?” I sighed.

“Just the most wonderful woman in the world.” I said with a dreamy tone to my voice.

“No fucking way, you found your mate. Man, I thought I had just made me a new friend. Now here you are, already in love.” he sighed in resignation. “Ok lay her on me. Where is she?’ He asked.

I looked a little sheepish. “Um she went home.”

“Dude what? What do you mean she went home? She’s yours, your mate. You had to bring her back with you.” I looked around. Then I shrugged. He shook his head. “You are seriously in need of help. But unfortunately for you I have to go home.” He shimmered away and I fell onto my bed. Sprinkles came to lay by me.

“What do you think boy? Isn’t that barbaric, I mean she needs time to know me right.” I sighed. “
Then why do I feel like my life is missing its happiness?” That night I did my job with no thrill. Something was seriously missing.

The next morning I was so pumped to see her again. I decided to take Sprinkles with me. I mean if she loves me, she has to love my dog. We come as a combo deal. I was in my running gear again. Figured I could burn off some of this pent up energy. “What do you think boy. Do I look ok?”

He looked at me “yeah your right. I need to pump up my muscles.” So I started to do some pushups. “Is that better? You will really like her boy. She is sweet and sexy and just so perfect for us. I can’t wait to hold her in my arms again. Maybe Jack is right and we should just snatch her.”

Fallon’s POV

I watched as Tyler talked to a dog that I assumed was his. He looked so cute. The dog that is, I had just popped back and didn’t want to interrupted him. Well really I just wanted to be able to drink him in before he saw me.  But it didn’t last long because before I knew it the dog raised his head and ran my way. I laughed as Tyler tried to catch up.

The dog reached me and almost made me fall back. He got up on his hind legs as he tried to reach my face to lick. “Well hello to you too” I said.

“Fall” was all Tyler got out before his lips claimed mine. I melted into the kiss and his body. While the dog kept trying to get in-between us. “Looks like my dog likes you, it’s official, you are ours.” I laughed.

“Well then seems like you have to meet my dogs to make it official on my end. I told him about my 2 dogs Tootsie Roll and Nugget.  What can I say, I have a sweet tooth.” We jogged and walked and talked just about everything. He told me about Sprinkles and I told him about my dogs. I think they will get along good. I hadn’t located my mom and my sisters said just to go with the flow. So I did just that.

We played with his dog and he walked around with me as I made more of the trees change to fall colors. It was a very good morning. But he was looking, tired as the time went by. So I told him he should go home and take a nap. It would make him feel better. I was sad to let him go but he really needed it.

He left me and I sat there on the grass just thinking about him. That was when the air shimmered around me and another guy showed up. “You too are really pathetic. What’s taking you so long to just go with him? You no he isn’t getting any rest because he’s away from you right?”

“Who are you?” I asked.

“Names Jack Frost” he said as he shook my hand and then a pair of frozen cuffs appeared that tied me to him. Before I could utter a word we shimmered away.
