Chapter 3

“Oh my goodness, no way, no way. You found your soul mate.” She jumped up and down pulling me with her. What can I say? She made me forget I was mad at her again. I hugged her back and screamed along with her.

“I know right. But I don’t know who he is. I just left him asleep. It’s so early for him to be sleeping, don’t you think?” She shrugged and put her hand on my eyes. I gave her a mental image of what I saw and I heard the noise she made. I punched her in the arm.  “Winter stop.” I said all mad.

She laughed then held my arm.  “I was looking for an image; you’re the one that gave me your emotions too. Hell that was your moan not mines. He’s ok. I mean I see him as a regular guy. You’re the one that sees the sex god. Holy crap, am I going to be like that when I find my mate too.” She wrinkled her nose. “I don’t know about that.”

I shook my head “where is mom?” I asked again.

“I don’t know I just wanted you to tell me what was going on.” I glared at her again. But she just hugged me and kissed my cheek. “Go back and talk to him. He should be so lucky to have you as a mate. You my sister are the sweetest thing ever. He will love you as much as we do. But you know that already. You know what they say. You always hurt the ones you love.” Once she said that she sprinkled some magic dust on me and the next thing I know I am right in front of the house looking in on the window where the man was.

I guess he must have felt me because the next thing I know. He was there looking at me through the window. “Damn you winter.” I muttered as our eyes connected and damn did it feel like all my nerve endings were firing at the same time. He placed his hand on the window and mine raised and went over his on the other side. 

Wow this is what love feels like. I thought as I looked into his eyes. But then in a split second he was gone. I was left wondering if I imagined the whole thing. I felt lost but then I heard the door open besides me to the right. I turned and saw him coming towards me. I turned and walked to him. But true to my nature I tripped and fell at his feet.  I felt my face flame as I heard his chuckle. “Well now, I have literally had a girl fall for me.”

I slapped his hand away when he reached down to help me up. He didn’t pay attention to my anger though as he lifted me up and held me close to his body. “Hi my name is Tyler and I’m the Sandman.” He said very close to my face. I felt his breath feather my lips as he spoke.

“Oh that’s why you were sleeping.” He gave me a smirk.

“I thought I felt someone looking at me earlier. So you like to stalk men huh.” I felt myself turn red again. Why was he making fun of me?  I think he notice my feelings because he kissed me ever so gently. “I just thought I was going crazy feeling eyes on me. But it made me feel warm all over. Now my beautiful mate, are you going to tell me your name. Or do I have to kiss it out of you?”

I opened my mouth to tell him. But damn, look at the boy. My mama didn’t raise a fool. So I clamped my mouth shut and pressed my lips together. That made him chuckle all over again. “Thank goodness.” He said as his lips descended to mine and he literally kissed the breath from me. Once we surfaced to catch our breath I smiled at him.

“My name is Fallon. But they call me fall. I’m sure you can guess why. I am Mother Nature’s daughter.” I told him.

“Are you the one responsible for all this?” He asked gesturing to all the beautiful fall foliage all around us. I smiled and nodded yes. “Wow, I thought I was going crazy when I saw the leaves turn colors as I ran. It looks so spectacular.” I felt warmth spread in my chest from his praise.

“Do you want to see what I do?” he asked. Then he took me to a part of the woods behind the place he was staying in. “See this, I invented the bow and arrow. It will help me spread the sleeping dust without getting caught.” He explained.

“Well that was very smart of you.” I said after he shot a bag of sleeping powder into a tree.

“Do you want to try?” He looked so expectant. I said yes and he came to me placing him body, in back of me and guiding my hands on the bow. I must say I was not listening to a thing he said. His body was way too close to mine. I tried to swallow as his nose nuzzled the side of my face. That sent the bag of sleeping dust flying through the air and landing on a tree. The poor birds that nested there fell right asleep.

“Um, so have you had time to see all the happenings with Halloween?” I asked needing to desperately move away and be around people. He was causing my body to go into overload.

“No I haven’t I used to spend my days sleeping.” I smiled at him and decided it was time he got into the spirit and saw everything. We started out by walking through the park where I first saw him. I explained about the bon fires they have since it seems like they were setting up for one tonight.

“So have you come down here much?”He asked me.

“No not really, since I am taking over for mom. It was my job to come down and well do my job. But my sister Winter is responsible for the cold that is here now. She likes to play a lot of tricks on me and people.” He laughed.

“Sounds like my new friend Jack Frost. Maybe I should introduce them.” He told me. I smiled feeling sorry for the poor sucker that ended up with winter.

“I have to go now” I told him needing to talk to my mother and sisters. I wasn’t sure what came next.

“Can I see you here tomorrow?” he asked me and I nodded yes. He kissed me before he shimmered away. I sighed and went to look for mom.
