"Stop screaming. Please," Birdie begged as she kept her hand clapped over cardboard Jimin's face after he finally realized what was going on.
She had muffled his scream too late though as she heard her father's shout coming up the staircase once more.
"BERNICE! STOP BLASTING YOUR NONSENSE THIS INSTANT!"
Sighing, she waited to make sure he wasn't going to come barging up the stairs before removing her hand from cardboard Jimin's mouth.
"I'm sorry," she said. "I just can't have my father finding out about this."
"Well, now I at least know your name," Jimin said.
"I go by Birdie," she said. "Please don't call me Bernice. It's all stuffy and old person sounding."
"Well then, Birdie, what kind of witchcraft did you put on me?"
"Witchcraft?" she said with a huff of surprised laughter. "What makes you think I had something to do with this? I'm just as confused by this as you are. I mean, you can't possibly be Jimin..."
"Well, I am and I didn't ask to be some sort of cardboard cutout!" Jimin said. "I have a concert to be at today!"
"Keep your voice down, please," Birdie said as she sighed, sitting back down on the edge of the bed and tossing the hand mirror off to the side.
"I'm sorry. I can't help but to be freaked out! Maybe I'm just dreaming...yes, that has to be what is going on! I have to be dreaming and just need to be slapped awake or something."
"Seriously?"
"Yes...now slap me!"
"Slap you?"
"Yes! Come on!"
"I'm not going to slap you."
"Oh come on! Just do it!"
Birdie got up from where she had just sat down and was just psyching herself up enough to hit Jimin across his cardboard face when her bedroom door suddenly flew open.
"Geezum Dad! Seriously..."
"What's all this yelling I can hear all the way from downstairs?" he asked, looking towards Birdie's hand that remained frozen in mid-air. "And what on earth are you about to do to that cardboard eye sore?"
"Eye sore?"
"You seriously have problems with distinguishing the difference between being a kid and being an adult," her father remarked as he walked right over to the cardboard cutout of Jimin and yanked him off its feet.
"HEY! Put him down!"
"Bernice, do not raise your tone at me! If you don't like me doing something, then move out, but while you're under my roof you're going to grow the heck up already and that starts with getting rid of this!"
Before Jimin even realized what was happening, Birdie's father took him right out of her bedroom before tossing him headfirst down the staircase, and it made him come to the realization that no, he was not dreaming.
