Five Months Later
"If I have to hear you belting out Who one more time!" yelled up her father before letting his words drown out, chuckling as he shook his head from side-to-side.
He didn't have it in him to yell at her anymore about the music, enjoying the cheerful sounds of his daughter from upstairs. Looking towards the front door as a knock sounded, he opened it to see her idol, Park Jimin, standing on the doorstep with a guitar strapped to his back.
"Good afternoon sir."
"Good afternoon," Birdie's father replied, stepping aside so Jimin could enter. "I didn't realize you were stopping by today. Birdie's upstairs. Want me to call her?"
"That's alright. I'll just go up if it's okay."
Her father nodded as he shut the front door, chuckling as he watched Jimin take the stairs two at a time. He knew that there was more to the story about how Birdie met Jimin then she let on, but decided to let it go. His daughter was happy and for that he was too.
"Besides," he whispered to himself. "If her mother was here, I think she'd also approve of him."
Birdie was in the middle of belting out 'Who' into her hairbrush microphone still when a knock came at her bedroom door. Thinking it was her father, she danced backwards while singing, opening the door and nearly letting out a scream when she saw Jimin's laughing face on the other side.
"I see you like this song," Jimin teased as Birdie backed up and Jimin stepped into her room, shutting the door behind him.
"I...I didn't realize you were stopping by today."
"I wanted to surprise you," he remarked.
Seeing the blush race to her cheeks, he chuckled moving to lean towards her ear and whisper, "I might have to change the lyrics to this song. I think I know who my heart was waiting for now."
"You don't...don't mean..."
Birdie was flustered as Jimin stood upright again. While she was happy spending time with Jimin whenever he had a chance to pop by, they had become nothing more than friends. After all, the experience they went through had bonded them. This was however the first time he had ever said something like this to her.
"Oh, but I do," he insisted as his eyes locked on hers.
Before she could think about how to react or respond, Jimin stepped closer to her. His hands gently cupped her cheeks as his thumbs padded gently over them, their eyes locking for a brief moment before their lips softly did the same.
Eventually pulling back from that kiss was like coming back to the surface after an underwater dive. The surprise of it all had taken her breath away.
"Jimin, I..."
"Was it not good?"
"No...no, not that."
"Then what?" he asked, unstrapping his guitar from his back and leaning it against her dresser nearby. "Don't tell me you prefer and miss your cardboard cutout over this..."
"No, no...it's just..."
"Then stop," Jimin said. "Don't try to think up reasons why I shouldn't say or feel this way. Just let it be. Be mine."
He moved a hand off her cheek to grab one of her hands in his, putting her hand gently over where his heart was steadily beating.
"It beats for you," he whispered, watching as she chuckled. Seeing her relax caused a small smile to come on his face.
Turning off the doubts in her brain, Birdie leaned in as Jimin did again, kissing him and letting their lips do a slow dance together in perfect sync with one another.
