Twenty-three
After swinging the door open, Paige fell to the ground, her legs giving up on even trying to balance. The two boys instantly ran to her side and helped her to the bed where she covered her face with her trembling hands and howled out pained cries, neither boy could barely listening to.
Once the door was closed, they crowded around, not entirely sure what to do.
It took a minute before they both decided to go for the obvious group hug.
A couple more minutes pass and the howls became more like choked cries.
At this point, all they managed to get out of her was 'phone'. Figuring her phone was in her room, Minho went to retrieve it while Changbin continued at his attempts to calm her down.
Minho opened the door and immediately froze upon seeing Lincoln in her room. The lights were on and he crouched down, staring at the remains of a phone as his back was turned to Minho.
He hadn't made a sound, there was no way he could have known he entered the room and yet Lincoln still spoke.
"Well, this isn't good. I wonder what she must saw. Any ideas?"
At first, Minho was sure he was taking to himself but then Lincoln turned slightly and fixated his gaze on Minho's.
"N-no," Minho stammered.
"No? Haven't quite coaxed it out of her yet?"
"She's still... Recovering."
Lincoln stood up, easily towering over the younger boy.
"First thing she did after smashing it was run to your room. I didn't know you guys were close."
"I wouldn't say close... Friends, maybe. But close?"
"Also heard you went out on a walk around earlier on, returning with a broken laptop."
"Dropped it in the water," he lied.
"Water? You went down to the river? The two of you?"
"Three. Changbin too."
Lincoln looked perplexed to say the least but still nodded.
"I see..."
"I should get to bed now. I guess I'll see you in the morning. Good night," Minho quickly left, growing uneasy in Lincoln's presence.

Did Paige sleep in Minho's room that night? Yes, on the bed. Did Changbin sleep there too? Yes, on the couch. And Minho? No, he paced around. So much was on his mind and he swore he saw a number of red flashes from cameras and sound recorders coming from all over his room.
Although also dangerous, he had to admit that being in a mafia was ten times less terrifying that serving for the Society. He felt naked with all the hidde devices that watched his every move. And then there was the Rebellion. Someone within the hideout had to be working for them.
Right now, all arrows pointed at Lincoln. He was acting strange and a bit too creepy for Minho's liking. But he was the Head of the Society. If they attacked him, the whole Society attacks them. That was practically suicide.
At about seven in the morning, Paige jolted awake.
"Where am I?" She demanded, glaring at Minho in confusion.
"Calm down, Paige. You just fell asleep in here last night."
She scanned him.
"You didn't try anything, did you?"
He smirked at her.
"If I did, you wouldn't be clothed right now."
Paige glanced down at her grey sweatpants and baggy yellow tee before sighing in relief and lying back on the bed.
"My phone... Did I really? Please tell me it was a dream."
He was silent for a minute before finally speaking up.
"If it helps, my laptop is still not working."
Paige groaned.
"Minho, I'm scared. No, terrified. Maybe we should stop digging into things so much. Maybe that's why everything just seems to be getting worse."
"There's someone working for the Rebellion in here. Whoever it is could kill us all. If there's a way I can avoid that happening, I'm going to take it."
"You didn't see what I saw. These aren't humans we are up against, they're monsters! They cut her apart like a slaughtered animal. They spooned out her eyes and made a meal of her fingers and toes. They ripped out her hair and shot her about thirty times. They glued our parents' exploded bodies to lifesize cutouts, Minho! They can't be human! They can't be!"
She sobbing again and in the midst of all this, Changbin awoke.
"Is that what you saw?" He asked.
She nodded in response.
"We need to stop... I... I don't want the same or worse to happen to me," her voice cracked.
Just then, Minho's laptop turned on. The exact same pictures Paige had seen were on it now except there were two more: Minho and Changbin's parents' exploded bodies.
"Is that... Are those... My parents?" Changbin asked. "They... Were in the explosion?"
Minho sighed.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I just..."
"He didn't want you as messed up as the rest of us," Paige helped him finish his sentence, looking anywhere but the laptop screen.
Changbin balled his fists before letting out a deep growl from the back of his throat.
"How dare they?" He spat out. "First they take their lives then they make mockery out of them? Appalling. Can't believe this. I'm going to kill-"
The door opened suddenly, revealing Cassidy. She smiled sweetly at them.
"Hey, Lincoln said I'd find you guys here. Breakfast is ready- Oh my gosh!" She yelled as her eyes landed on the pictures decorating the laptop screen. Minho immediately shut it.
"So, breakfast?" He cleared his throat.
"Were... Those your parents? Oh my gosh, why? Why were they...? Why would someone...? Why?"
Paige, Minho and Changbin gave each other one look before standing up in sync and walking out. This project was now their little secret. They couldn't trust anyone else.

"Good morning, sweetheart," Lincoln cooed as he kissed the top of Paige's head. Odd. "What happened to your phone last night?"
Paige chuckled and rubbed her nape.
"I may or may not have seen a spider. You know how much those servants of the Devil terrify me."
He chuckled and ruffled her hair.
"And what about sleeping in Minho's room?"
"Sleep? I didn't sleep. Him, Changbin and I were doing all we could to save his laptop all night. It finally turned on this morning."
Lincoln gave her a bitter grin.
"I see... Well, later on, I have to go out to get some groceries. Maybe I'll look at some new phones. Any else you'd like?"
"Not really, no."
"Great."
He kissed the top of her head once again then walked off.
"I don't trust him," Minho mumbled under his breath. "He-"
He was interrupted by his phone vibrating against the breakfast table. It was an informal breakfast with most of the people not even there so he was very much allowed to check it but before he did, Paige stopped him.
"Careful. It might be from the Rebellion."
He gave her a look of pure terror before finally picking it up. He looked at it one first before passing it to Changbin after feeling nauseous.
By the time Paige was staring at it, they were all on the verge of vomiting there and then.
It was a picture of Janey, in all her dead glory (not really). Her eyes were already scooped out in this picture and she floated over an ocean of blood. But that wasn't the main issue in the photo, in the left corner something was purposely circled. A gun in a detective evidence bag.
Paige looked closer before gasping louder than she intended.
Kyla, Cassidy and a few other Stray Kids members glanced at her.
"What is it?" Kyla asked, scanning them sceptically.
"He found him," Paige tried playing it off. "He found Harrison."
The sound of utensils falling against the plates filled the room.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"You should tell Lincoln."
"I will when he comes out of the library. I don't ever want to go back to that place."
There were a few chuckles before everyone went back to their conversations.
"Well done," Changbin sounded impressed. "But what was the whole gasping things about?"
Paige's eyes fell on the gun once again and she hoped she was just imagining things. Unfortunately she wasn't.
"The gun," she whispered. "Look at in closely. Do you see letters?"
Minho squinted at the picture.
"Aren't they Roman numerals for ninety-five? Oh wait..."
I think it's fair to say Minho and Paige worked well as a team, picking up details easily. Changbin, not so much.
"Wait... What am I missing?" He asked.
"Lincoln," Minho answered. "He was born in 1995. 95, get it?"
"Alright, I get that but so many people are born in that year."
"Janey, Kyla and Cassidy are all not in that year and at that point in time, each Society member was given a personal gun with their birthday on it. Yes, we can't see the actual day but back then, Lincoln was the only one born in that year," Paige explained.
She leaned back in her seat, sighing in confusion. Lincoln killed her? That makes no sense. Didn't he love her? Or was that just part of his plan?
Just to make things clear so you don't think otherwise, Minho does not have feelings for Paige. They are simply friends.
