6. Getaway
I was laying on Star, while Suga complained loudly from under the both of us.
He was wriggling and squirming, trying to get us off.
"Yoongi, if you keep moving like that this will turn into a threesome," Star warned, licking her lips and winking at me.
"Senpai! Oppa!" I said breathily, playing along. I bit my lip hard and let it slowly slip from my teeth in what I imagined was a sexual gesture.
Suga didn't respond, but he stopped moving, complaining and muttering to himself.
Star and I continued to lay all of our weight on him, yawning and pretending we were going to sleep on him. Our fun was interrupted by the sound of the music being turned off, and everyone immediately stopped what they were doing and looked up.
I looked at Star in confusion before I noticed Namjoon standing above us.
I jumped in surprise and rolled off of Star, holding back a wince when I hit the floor. I sat up and stared at him, waiting to see what he would say.
"Get up, we're going out," he spoke, looking only at me before walking away. I scrambled up, staring at Namjoon's retreating form.
Out? What?
"Go, he's probably taking you on your first job," Star said, and I nodded.
I looked up in time to see Angel walking out with Jungkook. He must be taking her on a seperate job?
I jumped to my feet, running after Namjoon. "Wait, Namjoon-ah!" I yelled after him, and he stopped dead in his tracks, causing me to slam into his back.
"Ow, uh, sorry. Where are we going?" I asked, holding my arms around my pained chest.
"Out" he spoke, peering down at me out of the corner of his eye before looking forward again.
He got into the car and I hastened to go around the car and get to the passenger side before he started the car and peeled out of the makeshift driveway, tires squealing as he expertly turned, drifting a little before straightening out and gunning it.
I stayed silent, crossing my legs and leaning back into the cushioned seat. If I was getting a free ride from this, I might as well enjoy it.
What would my job be? Would we rob a bank? Rob a store? Rob a house? Rob something? Steal a car? Or would-he wouldn't take me out on a shooting this early yet would he?
"What are we doing?" I asked him, biting my tongue from nerves, but I was scared to realize that there was excitement bubbling in my stomach, rising up to my chest and filling my body with tingling anticipation.
"You'll see," he said, gripping the steering wheel tightly as he swerved onto the high way. I gripped the armrest tightly, but I soon found myself grinning at the speed, feeling the power of the engine like it was my own heart pumping gas to go faster and faster.
Namjoon peered over at me, a light grin on his face. I found myself entranced by his dimple, and I continued to stare well after he had already turned back to driving.
"Can I get a hint?" I asked, trying to sound convincing. He pffted me, but I knew he would tell me when his dimple reappeared on his cheek, showing that he was smiling.
"We're running a few errands," he said, sending me a quick look.
"And then," he smirked, "we're going somewhere that you can show me just how full of sin you can be," he spoke with a teasing voice, and I squirmed in my seat, anxiously wondering what he meant exactly. Drugs? Sex? Murder?
My mind was reeling with scenarios, but on the outside I managed to stay calm and smirk back at him, leaning on my hand and staring out the window like I wasn't freaking out about ways to prove myself.
After that we both kept quiet, nothing but the sound of the humming engine and the pounds of our heartbeats to keep us company.
I got lost in my thoughts, considering different possible places. A club, a bar, an underground facility?
My uneasy excitement was interrupted by a jolt, and I noticed that we had parked in a vacant lot outside a sketchy apartment looking more than a little run down.
Seeing Namjoon begin to exit, I moved to follow before he grabbed my wrist, hissing.
"No! You stay in the car. Get in the drivers seat and when I come out be ready to drive," he explained, and I nodded, my heart racing.
He walked out, and as he entered the back door of the complex I quickly jumped across to the driver's seat.
It was warm, and I had to resist being a weirdo and thinking too much about the fact that not two seconds ago Namjoon had been sitting here.
Shaking my head to clear my thoughts, I reached out and clutched the steering wheel, spreading my fingers out to get used to the feeling. I stretched my legs out, moving my hands over the side of the seat until I managed to find the knob to scoot the seat forward so I could better reach the pedals.
Namjoon had some long legs. I smiled at the thought, before frowning to myself. What was I thinking?
I'm helping the leader of a gang in what is probably gonna be some sort of armed robbery, I was going to be the getaway driver. And here I am completely unconcerned about anything except for the fact that Namjoon was exceptionally attractive and unlike anyone I had seen or known before. Whats gotten into me, this isn't who I am!
But it is. I am Sin, this is who I am. The excitement of the chase, the thrill of living life on the edge, the joy that fills the body when you do something life-risking.
I force a smirk onto my face, and then I find myself chuckling, turning on the radio and bobbing my head to the hip hop that was booming from the speakers.
I clench my foot on the brake, hovering my hand on the stick, reading to switch shifts as soon as Namjoon entered the car.
As time went by I started to get more and more nervous. What was taking so long? Was he in trouble?
The sound of a gunshot rang out, and I felt my heart stop.
I hardly knew Namjoon, but I had grown attached to him. And what was I to do if he was dead? I don't know the way back, and even if I did, what was I supposed to tell the others?
I sighed in relief when I saw a flash of pink, and then Namjoon was running for the car, jerking the door open and hopping in.
He hadn't even closed the door when I shifted into drive and began speeding away, losing myself in the crowd of cars and weaving through them like I was a drag racer.
My heart was hammering and I was hooting and shouting as I realized what had happened. I was a getaway driver. I was a getaway driver! And a damn good one at that.
I felt a warmth on my thigh and I nearly screamed when I felt Namjoon lay his hand on my leg and squeeze it gently.
"Nice job. Keep driving straight for a while. The fun is only beginning," he said.
I smirked, pressing harder on the gas pedal and grinning at the sound of the howling engine.
