IX

Slowly, feelings start to come flooding in, I can feel the cold air touch my skin. My body feels heavy, as if a Skiff sits atop of it but I manage to open my eyes. In a large room. wounded lie all around me, being treated to. There is a weight on my left arm, one that is not natural and as I look down I notice Lezia, resting her head on it. Her face looks so tranquil when she sleeps. As I stir she slowly wakes up. It takes her a moment to realize what is truly going un but after it sets in she immediately embraces me in a tight hug. That is when I realize the full extent of her strength, it is a tight grip, as if her own life depends on it.

Faklis: Lezia, you are hurting me.

She realizes that maybe she has gone a little too far and breaks away, taking a few steps back, there is guilt in her eyes, but also happiness, joy.

Lezia: You are awake, we didn't know if you would wake up. I have to go tell the others.

I watch her as she runs out, rarely does she move that quick. But soon comes running in with Kha'aulk, Titzer, Akeskriks and Dominic. I can see the smug on Dominic's face as all of them approach.

Dominic: Hello there big fella. How are you feeling?

Faklis: Heavy, exhausted and drained.

Dominic: You know, you gave us quite a scare. We didn't know if you would pull through.

Kha'aulk: Ha. Our leader is no weak warrior, he is as strong as obsidian mountain, as swift as the sunray and as brave as a true warrior. Of course he would pull through.

Akeskriks: We are glad that you woke up, but you will still be monitored for any signs of danger, we are not out of it even as we speak, things can go bad.

Faklis: I trust your capability.

Titzer: I must say, that was a extremely brave, or foolish move, I still haven't decided on it. But without it, I don't think we would have pulled through, you disrupted their coordination and instilled panic.

Dominic: I must say, that thing you did, that shit was cool as fuck.

Lezia: What move?

Titzer: He appeared to stop a projectile in the air and sent it back. We were all shocked and the enemy forces were scared, that is what made them retreat.

Akeskriks: We will leave you and Lezia alone for now, you have a lot of things to talk about.

Kha'aulk: We will?

Akeskriks: Yes we will you dense head. I will come in and check on you later today.

They walk out, leaving me and Lezia alone in this glass enclosed room, Akeskriks goes back to tending to the others while the others disappear from view.

Faklis: How bad were the wounds?

Lezia: Pretty bad, but you managed to heal somewhat and recover. Honestly, all of us thought that we would loose you. Honestly, how stupid are you? Putting yourself in that kind of danger.

Faklis: I am sorry, My Queen, but it was necessary. I would gladly give my life to save not only you but the people that I swore to protect.

Lezia: Bullshit! Did you ever think how I would feel if you died and I lived?

Faklis: Wouldn't you be honored and happy that you had such a loyal follower?

Lezia: I mean, yeah, but that isn't the true point. Look, I care about you Faklis. Like I really do.

Faklis: I know.

Lezia: You do?

Faklis: You care for everyone, you are a really caring and patient person.

She hits herself on the forehead, letting out a deep and long sigh. She walks closer to me, this time though, putting her hand on mine, looking me straight into my eyes.

Lezia: Not like that dummy. Look, I care for you more than you think. I know you probably don't realize it as you are simply too loyal and too focused on your duty. I won't say to you directly, I want you to come to me after you find out what I truly mean.

Faklis: Why not tell me upfront? You know I can't get mad or disappointed.

Lezia: It would defeat the point and purpose. But enough about that, tell me more about the power you used. I didn't know you could use any kind of power.

Faklis: I acquired it when I went on that trip to Europa where I found out that the Darkness was calling out to me.

Lezia: Did you take it's gift?

Faklis: Yes, but I submitted it to my own mind, it could not influence, I would use it without having to worry about being corrupted. Then a week was spent on using it, it had magnetic properties and I could use it not only for defense but offense.

Lezia: So you took a gamble with that tank shot?

Faklis: Correct.

Again, she let's out a sigh, shaking her head.

Lezia: I don't know if I should be mad, disappointed or amazed. Honestly, that was such a stupid thing to do.

Faklis: I didn't really have a choice, it caught me by surprise and I couldn't really evade it. May I ask one thing?

Lezia: Yeah, sure, what?

Faklis: What do you know about dreams?

Lezia: Dreams, huh. Well, they are a manifestation of our brains, it is what they wish to create for themselves. They might be looking at the past, regret, fear, many things. Why do you ask?

Faklis: Just asking, nothing serious, just had a strange dream.

She looks at me but doesn't question further. She knows it isn't just a strange 'dream' but won't ask too much. And I do not want to worry her with what I saw and heard. Still, I do wonder whose voice that was. It couldn't have been an Ahamkara since they are all dead and from what I heard and read, they speak 'Oh wielder of mine' not 'Oh wielder of ours'. I will have to look into it, I do feel stranger that before. Is it from the medicine or something else.

Lezia: Well, you rest, I have to go sort some things out, repair some damages and express condolences to those that fell.

She walks out, leaving me all alone in the room once more, letting me to gather my thoughts. It will take me some time to recover, but I am glad that we won and even proud. But what confuses me are her words, maybe I should ask Akeskriks about it. My eyes feel once more, heavy and a deep slumber slowly takes me.

Next time I wake up I expected to be in the same room, but that is not the case. I stand in a dark open field, a hard stone like surface is beneath me. And in front, lays a entrance to the underground. This must be another vision and as I head inside the construction of this strange place is not like what I expected. It is no Pyramid ship metal, no, this is something more, normal. The inside halls are dimly lit, but empty, there is a eerie atmosphere. Navigating the empty space, following the light. The entire structure is unlike anything I had come across before, all of it is alien to me. There is a large door at the end of a large open room. It has an aura that is both inviting but at the same time, creepy and ominous. Yet, I walk to it, every step I take echoes, only amplifying the fact that this is completely baren. As the doors slowly open they reveal a dark room, only a single light illuminating a platform. Walking inside I tread carefully, stepping towards the light, nothing else can be seen, as if the purest darkness is around me. However, upon stepping on the platform. the entire room lights up. Revealing rows and rows of strange figures all around me, their humanoid shadows are the only thing that can be seen. Some float, some stand on the floor, none of them appear to have eyes, but I feel like I am being watched. Slowly they manifest into strange beings, ones that I had never seen before. Their thin bodies stand tall, some have two sets of arms like us, some only one. Their faces hidden underneath a thick veil, well most of them, only one has it's face revealed. It is a grotesque thing, a wicked smile, one that could even scare a Hive Knight, appearing to have no eyes and a strange device going from it's forehead to the back of their skull. All of it says to me, run, but I have a sense that there is no need. The thing speaks, but it's mouth does not move.

Creature: Greetings, oh chosen one. We greet you.

Faklis: Who are you? What is this place?

Architects: Call us Architects for now. As where we are, or you are, welcome, to our domain. One of them.

Faklis: Why are you speaking with me? Why am I here?

Architects: We are the ones that created your bow that was gifted to you. We wish to speak with you and pulling your consciousness during sleep was the best opportunity.

Faklis: Talk about what?

Architects: We have watched you for a long time and have come to a consensus and verdict to choose you as our gifted, as our warrior.

Faklis: Why?

Architects: You see, we were a once prosperous race, living in complete solidarity with the laws of our universe. The, came he, we never wished for blood of ours to be spilt so we escaped.

Faklis: Are you talking about the Witness?

Architects: Correct. He attacked us and we found a way to escape him without him being able to follow us. We escaped to another plain, another realm which was a parallel of the before world, but in which none of the Darkness nor Light existed. Where we could live once more in peace?

Faklis: But he is defeated, why don't you cross back. Or is there a reason that you can't.

Architects: By crossing over, we forfeited our material bodies, the ones you see now are only the spiritual manifestation of us, a physical manifestation is impossible. We know that he is defeated, but the Darkness remains and we wish you, with our weapon, Anku to cleans and destroy all traces of it.

Faklis: But I am loyal to one and how can a bow defeat the Darkness itself.

Architects: Because it is a weapon that transcends all logic and reason, it did not come from your timeline nor worlds rules, it came from ours in which we are the leaders, in which different rules exist. We do not ask you to actively seek it out, but if you come across, do destroy it.

Faklis: And how would I use it?

Architects: All you have to do is think of it. Call out it's name and it will manifest in your hold. It is a part of you, a part of your very own soul. If you die, we pull you to us. We are only able to tamper with your dimensions but not exist in it.

Faklis: Do I require arrows?

Architects: The power you use is one that only comes from you, any element, any outcome you wish, it will abide by it. Be it fire, be it Light or Dark, be it the very forces of cosmos, it will manifest. But it is not to be used carelessly, it takes a immense amount of power and energy to use it. So only use it when necessary.

Faklis: Very well.

Architects: Perfect. Please do not tell any soul of our existence. We would like to stay nonexistent for as long as we can.

Faklis: I can do that. I would even doubt that anyone would even believe me.

Architects: We are grateful for you understanding child. Now, rest well and recover.

With a snap of a finger darkness overtakes me again, warm and comforting.
