I

Life for me, Faklis, had not been easy. Having been a Kell of a house long gone, but exiled because of my different views from my people. They so blindly follow the Traveler wherever it goes, despite knowing that it is it's fault that our people had been turned into what we are. So many died once it left us. I had grown not only to loath and despise the Traveler, but the Darkness too, why can't they just leave us alone and fight each other somewhere away from life. I had seen what the Darkness does to a person, it turns them vile, corrupted, aggressive, turning their back on their very own blood. I sought out to stop relying on outside help, but instead, we rely on ourselves, on our creations. To stop chasing something that had only brought us death and shame, to instead focus on developing our society without outside help. But, my very own thoughts were blasphemy, ridicule, taboo and for that, my very own people, that I had protected, saved and fed, turned on me. They exiled me, tried to kill me, but I managed to flee away from them. I would come back when I was stronger. I fled to Mars where, I set on making myself stronger. But, I had faced hardship there, fighting against the Hive had wounded me but also hardened my body and mind. I entered a massive human research and manufacturing facility. From my childhood I was gifted in tinkering and making machinery, I was a prodigy and with that knowledge I had hoped to sway my people, but they were to simpleminded to see beyond the veil that was the Traveler. Using superior human technology I made not only new arms for myself, after having lost both of my upper limbs fighting against a Hive knight, but I then focused on making armor. Eliskni armor is clunky, rough, impractical and heavy, so, with the help of the many materials and machines that were laying around I built myself a complete armor set that would protect most of my body better than the armor that I had. It was even more practical, lighter, you could move better in it and most of all, you could integrate many things into it. To help me fight and give me an advantage I built an exoskeleton that would give me more strength and endurance, then set on making better weapons. For, what the Eliksni had was inferior to what I could make. I built myself two sharp swords from many available alloys, that were not only sharper but also more durable than what I had. Using some human designs as inspirations but also their philosophy of weapons I had created a railgun that would help me deal with most things that my swords couldn't deal with.

While heavy compared to what humans would build, my strength and size would make it perfect for me. Next thing I focused on was upgrading my body, first started with vision but then slowly started to get rid of my reliance on Ether and other outside sources. What I would be classified was an Cyborg. Through extensive modifications I made myself stronger and more adaptable. But, even my stay on Mars was short lived as the Darkness had come and I fled once more, I fled to the Tangled Shore where my next chapter started. There I lived in shadows, killing whatever would cross my path. But, was it fate or simple coincidence I came across a Awoken warrior. We clashed, our battle was fierce, but I came out victorious after having cut her legs off. I was about to kill her, having expected pleading or sadness as I have seen in many things I had killed, but I saw nothing. I saw joy, that confused me, who is glad to die. She looked happy as I was swinging my sword down but I stopped right in front of her face. Her eyes, they showed no emotion, as if they were lifeless, as if the being that had them had no life behind it. Like a machine. We kept staring at each for a moment, in my mind a new goal surfaced. To care for her, but why, I do not know. Was it admiration at the bravery in face of death, pity towards her now crippled form or empathy for those eyes that showed nothing but suffering and hopelessness.

I took her in my care, no matter how many times she begged me to kill her I didn't, she constantly refused my help so I used force. I force fed her, I helped her in many things as I saw that she didn't have the will to do it herself. But, as we spent more time she had shown trust in me, but no matter how many times I had offered to build her a new leg she refused. Stating that she enjoyed being taken care of, carried around everywhere we went and fed. It seemed that those times would bring a smile upon her face. I learned that her name was Lezia Vul, she was an Awoken warrior, one in charge of serving the queen Mara Sov, but had to escape after she had plotted to kill Mara. She suffered more than I originally thought, having had to kill her own sister which was among the many that were sent after her. Witnessed many atrocities, tossed around as a hired gun like she were nothing more than an object. She grew tired of death and suffering and really wanted me to end her life. Having learnt more about her I grew a newfound respect for Lezia and decided that, even though I was stronger than her, I would be her servant. I would ensure her safety, her well being and her happiness. We traveled from planet to planet, fought against many Cabal, Hive, Vex and even Scorn, but also more assassins sent to kill her but were not successful, instead they found themselves facing death. Thankfully after some time the assassins stopped, but all these battles only helped me to become even a better and more skilled warrior. For I, Faklis, no longer a Kell, but a guard of Lezia, an Awoken female, had a great task on my hands. She even painted my armor blue, as it was her favorite color and the grey metallic that was before bored her and didn't suit me. She had created her very own emblem that she put on me, as a sign. Faklis the Exiled turned into Faklis the Loyal and would do everything she instructed me.

Two years had passed since we first met and now we had settled on Earth. Built ourselves a home in an abandoned ancient temple that was located in a cliff. Inside was in ruins but we managed to fix it up, decorate it and make it look more, or I should say less ruined. We lived off what was around us, growing our plants, hunting wildlife for survival. We haven't been bothered by any unwanted guest and even found a ship. While it was overgrown with plants, product of long time it had been abandoned we managed to clean it up and I even, through some fine tunning managed to squeeze more power out of it than originally thought of.

One rainy day, we sat on a small balcony overlooking the valley that was in front of us. Listening to the rain as it hit the many surfaces, each omitting a different, yet soothing noise. This was Lezia's favorite time, rain and thunder calmed her, she would always, whenever rain started falling, sit on the balcony and close her eyes and listen.

Lezia: Faklis, I am bored.

Faklis: What can I do for you Lady Lezia to help you relieve some of that boredom?

Lezia: I don't know, I want to meet some people at least. Like, don't get me wrong, you are fun and all, I really like being around you, but I want to meet more people.

Faklis: But more people would mean more danger. What if the bounty is still on your head?

Lezia: You are going to be there to protect me, aren't you?

Faklis: Of course I would be, it is my duty to do this. My willing duty.

Lezia: Perfect, there is a city called the Last City, I know, creative as hell name. That is where humanity is, the last of them, plus I heard that there are Cabal and Eliksni there. And the Traveler.

She said that with a more silent voice, knowing well that it despise that thing. But, despite my loathing for it, I can't help but feel that I should do it. I would make her happy, yes it might expose her to danger, but I will protect her and it would be good to get more people. Especially if we could bring them here.

Faklis: When would you like to head out?

Lezia: Let's do it right now. I can't wait honestly. Come on, pick me up, pretty please.

As I pick her up from the ground she moves her face into my chest. She would do this often but I would never understand why would she do that. I carry her to the ship, but not before grabbing some supplies. We set her down on a bad inside and proceed to sit on the pilots seat. It is a single seater, no need for a copilot as everything can be easily controlled by the pilot. Strangely this ship does have some unknown modifications on it that I couldn't figure out what they were for. There are disruptors, auxiliary generators that power something and a lot of weapon systems are hidden inside the ship and have doors that they would come out. I turn on the engines and as we lift off the ground I move fly out of our makeshift hangar. The speed of the ship is good enough, it will take us about two hours to get there. I set the ship on autopilot and get up from the seat. I walk back to Lezia.

Faklis: Do you think that there will be people that would be willing to harm you there?

Lezia: I hope not, but that is hope, there probably will be. But maybe, some have forgotten about it or it had been taken down, who knows.

Faklis: Wouldn't it be easier for me to build you a leg so that you could roam around without me?

Lezia: Like I said, I don't want it, I like being carried around by you. It makes me feel special and nice. Why do you hate the Traveler so much, like, I know it left your people behind, but many of your people still follow it,

Faklis: I am no foolish and stupid as they are. It showed us that we can't rely on anything not of our own, it left us when we needed it the most. And yet, my people seek to be beneath it once again. It made us weak, reliant on outside forces instead of us focusing on our capabilities that the Cabal had done.

Lezia: I guess that is all correct, but you do kind of remind me of Eramis.

Faklis: Eramis?

Lezia: Oh yeah, she was the Kell of House of Salvation or something. She used the darkness as a tool, but she was slain too. I am still in tune with the happenings of this world.

Faklis: Using Light and Darkness is the same, relying on either of them only makes you weak and unready for when they turn their backs on you. If you build something yourself it can't turn it's back on you.

Lezia: I guess you are correct.

We talk more until we reach the Last City. A massive wall surrounds the city, but there doesn't seem to be the Traveler. This does confuse me, I expected to see that monstrosity floating above like it did to our cities. We approached the walls without anyone contacting us, if it were night it wouldn't be all too strange, but this was in the middle of the day. We fly towards a large area that looks like a hangar judging by the many ships that had already parked there. As we land I turn off the engines and grab my weapons and holster them. Then proceed to pick up Lezia in my arms. Both of us unsure what to expect as the doors slowly open, letting in the outside light into the dimly lit interior of the ship.
