chapter thirteen

"Where is she?"

"If we don't fine her, Hayden is going to be mad."

"I can't get fired! I have a family!"

The frantic comments coming from the outsude of the library are louder than they need to be. It's getting to the point where I'm going to pop my head out of the double doors and ask then to quiet their words to a whisper.

In fact, that's exactly what I'm going to do.

I place my book down on the little end table next to my chair by the fireplace. I walk towards the door, and I open it just enough for my head to be able to show.

"What's all the commotion about?" I ask.

A maid, that I learned is named Eleanor, sweat drops at the sight of me.

"Your highness!" Eleanor smiles. "There you are! We've been looking everywhere for you," She ushers me out of the library, completely forgetting about the book, and soon enough I'm being shoved down the hall ways. "We have much to do. It's a big day after all. We can't have Prince Leonardo waiting long, now shall we?"

"What are you talking about? Today is Alex's wedding, not mine."

"You have the days mixed up," she confirms. "Alex's wedding is tomorrow. Not yours. Yours is today!"

I did say before that the weddings were quickly rushed. With the baby, and Hayden not wanting to have the kingdoms know until after the wedding, he quickly rushed both weddings before any baby bumps begin to form.

As of Laurance's wedding, his will remain on the same date. As in, a few months from now.

"Oh," I say with a blank face. "Thank you for telling me."

She brings me into my room, and Eleanor tells me that I have a special visitor. Although, she perfered not to call the person a visitor, in fact, more like a friend. Except, I don't know who she could possibly be talking about. A friend from the village? It couldn't possibly be because that would mean my secret would've been leaked into the village. I highly doubt that because of how much of a secret he is keeping though.

"Y/N, long time no see!" I look forward to seeing a smiling Taryn. "It looks like I'll be your main stylist."

I nod my head awkwardly with wide eyes. First I find out that I forget when my wedding date is, and one of the first people to actually accept my in this palace is my wedding stylist.

She begins to do my hair, and other maids do my makeup. I've noticed how different weddings we would have in the village, even if I go to many, are to royal weddings. Villagers line up from the kingdoms, even some from other kingdoms, to watch the wedding. Then there's always the other royal families that come to watch the wedding.

Royal weddings are elegant, and a generous amount is placed into them, and then they show off the new royally wedded couple off.

Village weddings are small, and they are simple. They have people play instruments, and they dance around in there best clothes. They can use handy downs, or even make their own wedding dress. It's not like a royal wedding.

They only thing a royal wedding and a village wedding have in common is the fact people are getting married. Saying that they're marrying for love isn't always the case.

"Time for you to get dressed," Taryn mentions, and I'm lifted from my chair. "Then when you're done, we'll prepare you with your tiara and everything you need for the wedding."

Taryn leaves, and the maids begin to undress and dress me into my wedding gown.

I look down to see my dress is full of lace, and is slighy puffy and frilly. It's a normally wedding dress, but it is beautiful.

A tiara is placed on my head, and a long trained vail is wrapped in front of me from behind. I'm given a bouquet of flowers, and they're absolutely beautiful.

Taryn walks in and gasps. She's dressed up as well, and she looks gorgeous.

"Y/N," she almost tears up. "You're stunning. Leo is a lucky man," Taryn smiles. "The wedding will be in a few minutes, but first, I have something for you to wear."

She walks off, and soon enough, she comes back into the room with a pearl necklace.

It's placed around my neck, and my questionable thought are accidentally announced.

"Ms. Davis has given then to the guards saying that they were your mother's. I thought it would be a nice touch to your dress, and as well as a touch from where you originally were from."

I give her a hug. "Thank you Taryn," I say, and I try to force the tears wanting to come out to stay away. "You have no idea how much this means to me."

A knock on the door is heard.

"Five more miuntes until the wedding starts," says a butler.

The doors are pushed up, and I begin to walk down the large isle towards Leo. He smiles at me, and I force myself not to look around for Laurance. But sadly, I do, and I can't find Laurance anywhere.

He didn't even bother to come to my wedding.

I take a deep breath to disguise a sigh, and I look ahead and I smile.

Soon enough I'm standing face to face with Leo. The wedding is long, and an old feeling hits me in the bottom if my stomach.

I love Leo, the butterflies in my stomach prove that, but a feeling of emptiness refuses to leave me.

"Does anybody object to this marriage?" Leo and I begin to look around, and not a single noise is heard. We turn back to each other. "It appear-"

The doors are thrown open, and a voice called out, "I object! I object to this marriage!"

Gasps are heard, and suddenly all the attentuon is brought to the voice's owner: Laurance.

He did come after all.

He marches up the isle to us.

"I object," he repeats. "I pbject to this marraige. Y/N, I love you, and I can't watch you get married to somebody who does love you back!"

Hayden stands up, "Laurance! Sit down, and quit making such a ruckus with your nonsense talk!"

I look at Leo. "You don't love me?" I ask.

"No, I don't. I'm sorry."

"It's okay."

The disappointment I feel isn't as much as the embarrassment I feel. I thought he loved me, but u was too blind to see that he didn't want to break my heart and was being nice.

"Y/N Zvahl is not royalty! It was all a lie that my father, Hayden Zvahl, made to cover up Alex's disappearance!"

"You'll regret this Laurance!" Hayden yells. Alex gets up from her spot and runs over to Laurance. "You will too young lady!" Then Cadenza followed behind. "I can't believe this!"

"It's true!" Alex announces. "It's all true! I ran away, and Vylad ran off after me. We fell in love, and now I'm bareing child. I've known the entire time of Y/N's cover up, but I didn't want to say anything because," she looks at me smiling. "She's like a sister to me, and love her like one. Im happy to say that she's one of my best friends."

"I wasn't here long," Cadenza comments. "But I was here long enough to know she had no say so in this, and she only did this for her kingdom. Our kingdom."

"I fell in love with Y/N, and she would push me away ignoring her feelings because of my arranged marriage. So Y/N, please, let me marry you instead of him. At least it'd be for love."

I turn to Leo, and he nods as he backs away to make space for Laurance. "Yes, I will marry you," I say. Laurance smiles and runs up to become my husband.

Hayden stands up, and booing accurs. "You hear that Laurance?! I hope you all hear the boos that are being thrown your way! Poor doesn't become rich, and royalty does not marry the poor! Just give up!"

A guard walks up to Hayden, "Sir, I must ask you to leave."

"Me?" Hayden asks shock. "I'm the king! You will obey me!"

He's brought out, and Laurance turns to me. People sit back down, and I look out to the crowd.

"Does anybody abject to this marriage between Prince Laurance Zvahl and Ms. Y/N..."

"L/N," I whisper.

"L/N?"

Nobody else abjects, and suddenly I'm brought into a kiss as soon as the announcement of "you may kiss the bride" is said.

Laurance pulls away, and he rest his forehead against mine. "Finally," he mumbles.
