A/N: I'm so sorry that I didn't update in so long, I had a lot of things to do. Over 9k reads... Wow! Thank you so so much!! By the way: Do you want me to translate the Spanish conversations or not?
I was out with my brothers because we hadn't done so in quite a while. As we were walking down the streets of downtown San Juan, we passed a jeweller. Honestly, I had thought about buying an engagement ring so many times because I was sure about Hannah being the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, but I had never really done it. Also, I had wanted to fake propose to her, but why not have a real engagement? "Benito, ¿vienes?" Bysael asked, when he noticed that I had stopped in front of the jeweller. "Regreso enseguida, amigos. Denme cinco minutos." I told him, walking up to the door of the shop.
When I was done inside the jeweller, Bernie and Bysael looked at me confused. "¿Qué compraste?" Bernie asked, looking at the little bag I was carrying. "Un anillo para Hannah." I answered before I flashed him a smile. "Espera un segundo, ¿un anillo de compromiso?" he replied a little shocked. I simply nodded and continued walking. We had wanted to grab some coffee and meet up with our uncles to play dominoes. "¿Estás seguro de que quieres casarte con ella?" Bysael questioned, when Bernie didn't. "Sí, 100 por ciento." I answered. "No me malinterpretes, me gusta mucho Hannah, pero ¿no estás apurando un poco las cosas?" was what he wanted to know. "Nunca he estado tan seguro de nada en toda mi vida, Bysael, así que ¿por qué debería perder el tiempo y esperar?" I counter questioned. Yes, proposing after only three months of dating was soon, but I was sure about it and I had never been the person to waste time. Plus, patience had never been one of my strongest virtues. Both of my brothers stayed quiet after what I had said. They knew that arguing or trying to talk me out of it would've been useless because I was one of the most stubborn people in our family. For the rest of our walk through San Juan, none of us said something. Right before we entered the little café, I stopped my brothers. "¿Podrían quedárselo para ustedes, por favor?" I asked them. Bysael was the first one to nod, then Bernie. I didn't want my family to know about my plan; my parents would've killed me. Even though my mother had wanted me to marry Hannah, she probably would've thought I was crazy. "Una cosa más: ¿cuándo le vas a preguntar?" Bernie asked, holding me back from entering the café. I thought about it for a few seconds. Valentine's Day was going to come up and I thought that would be the perfect occasion if we weren't going to see each other for Christmas and New Year's eve. "En el día de San Valentín." I told him, before smiling.
Two months later, I was getting ready in my hotel room in LA. It was Valentine's Day and Hannah and I were going to go on a date that night. For the past three months, I had been the happiest guy on this planet. Even though Hannah and I hadn't seen each other a lot - actually we both had been busy and so the last time that we had seen each other had indeed been her last day in Puerto Rico -, there was still nothing but love between us. With every second that passed by I got more nervous. Before I left the hotel room, I checked if I had everything; the ring, the keys to my rental car, my wallet and my phone. The ten minutes of driving felt like forever but that was only because I couldn't wait to see Hannah. Finally, when I arrived at her apartment, I texted her, saying I was waiting outside. While I was waiting for her to come outside, I got out of the car. As soon as she came downstairs and saw me, she started smiling. I picked her up and spinned her around, when she reached me, then I placed a long and passionate kiss on her lips. "I missed you." I told her, after I had broken the kiss. I put her back on her feet and looked down at her. She was wearing a tight, nude coloured dress combined with simple black heels. Since she had never been the date-loving kind of person, it was a rare but extremely beautiful sight. I took in the view and enjoyed every second of it. "I missed you too, but do we really have to go out?" Hannah said, pouting a little. I opened the car door for her, while I quietly chuckled. "Yes, Hannah, we have to. I reserved the table months ago." I told her, getting into the driver's seat. I had reserved the table, the night that I had bought the ring.
Later that night, Hannah and I shared a desert; some ice-cream. Even though she had complained about how fancy the restaurant was, she seemed to have a great time. With every spoon Hannah ate, I got even nervous. I had been able to hide how nervous I actually was the whole evening but now that the moment of asking her to marry me came closer, I couldn't hide it anymore. "Everything okay?" she asked, putting her spoon down. "Hannah, I have to ask you something." I replied, getting up from my chair. She looked at me in confusion while she remained seated. Quickly, I walked over to her and grabbed one of her hands. Since other guests were staring at us, she started to shift in her seat uncomfortably. "Benito, what are you-" she started to say, but stopped when she saw me get down on one knew. My heart was pounding out of my chest and I was sure that you could've heard it if there hadn't been any music in the restaurant. Slowly and with shaking hands, I pulled the little box with the ring in it out of the pocket of my jacket, then I opened it. Hannah gasped and her eyes went wide as soon as she saw it. "I know it's a little crazy considering that we haven't been together for long, but Hannah, will you marry me?" I asked her, when I had calmed myself down a little. While I was waiting for her to give me an answer, she looked around. I really thought she was going to say no or worse even leave me. It wasn't long until she nodded, but it felt like an eternity. A wave of relief rushed through me, when I put the ring on her finger. Quickly, I got up and kissed her passionately. The people around us started clapping. When we pulled away, a waiter came over to us with a bottle of champaign. It felt surreal that now I was engaged.
