As much as I hated to admit it, I was so jealous of Marina that I sometimes cried myself to sleep in his bed. When Benito wasn't spending time with me, he was with her. Sometimes he came back in a good mood, sometimes he came back in a back mood, but either way, he would cuddle up at me and told me everything. "I don't get it, Hannah. I'm so confused." he said frustrated when he had come back from one of their dates. "Why are you confused? You still want her back, right?" I counter questioned, looking up from the screen of my laptop. "Just a few weeks ago I would've said yes without thinking twice, but now I'm not so sure anymore." he then explained, sitting down on the couch next to me. That caught my attention, so I closed my laptop and put it to the side. "Why not? You said you still loved her and that you missed her." I then responded. "It feels like I don't know her anymore. Like, today two fans came up to me, wanted to take a picture and she literally told them to fuck off. She would've never done that two years ago." he told me. "Maybe you don't miss her, but the memories you have with her." I replied, shrugging. "No, I still love her, but my heart longs for someone else as well and I just don't know who I want to be with." he explained very fast. "Hold on, you like two girls, did I get that correctly?" I wanted to know curiously. "It sounds stupid, I know." he answered, shaking his head. He scooted over to me and laid his head onto my lap. "It's not stupid. I'm sure you're gonna figure it out somehow." I said, caressing his cheek. "What would you do?" he then questioned, looking up at me. "I honestly don't know, but you should listen to your heart. Spend time with both of them and pay attention to how each of them makes you feel." I told him. "Thank you, Hannah. Enough from me, we haven't talked about your guy problems in a while." he then said, smiling up at me. Benito and I had talked about almost everything; he knew about all of my exes and also about all of the guys that had broken my heart. "Uh, what can I tell you. There's actually nothing new." I shrugged it off. It had been so long that we had talked about guys that I hadn't developed the feeling that I had yet. "Hannah, we've been doing this for way too long that I wouldn't notice if you try to change the subject." he replied, sitting up. I stayed quiet and looked down at my fingers. "What's wrong?" he then asked, caressing my cheek. "Okay, I like somebody." I admitted. "Oh! And why aren't you all happy and smiles, when asked about it?" he questioned concerned. I didn't get the feeling off that something bothered him, but I just couldn't tell what it was. "He doesn't like me back at least not in a romantic way." I admitted honestly. "You haven't told him that you like him. Am I right?" he guessed. "No, but there's no need to. He already likes somebody else and I know that for a fact because I saw them kiss." I explained, still looking at my fingers. "He's an idiot." he commented, chuckling. Confused I looked up at him. "I mean, you're funny, you have a good heart and from what your friends and family told me, you don't love very often, but when you do, you do it with every fiber of your heart. Not a lot of people do that and any guy should be happy to have you." he explained, still caressing my cheek. These words warmed my heart, but at the same time they broke it. "Thank you, Benito." I simply said, leaning my head against his shoulder. He kissed the top of it and put his arm around my shoulder. "So, now tell me, who is the second girl?" I mumbled slowly. "Who's your guy?" he counter questioned. "Since it's not gonna work out, it's not important." I said, burying my face in his chest. "Alright, but if you ever wanna talk about it, you know where to find me." Benito answered, pulling me even closer to him.
I was skyping with Jennifer because she needed advice with an outfit for a date with Brad - yes, they were still a thing, more or less. "Where's your boyfriend?" she asked, when she realized that Benito was not there. That was the perfect time for me to tell her that the relationship was fake. "Jenny, I have to tell you something." I started, looking down. "Oh, no! Did you guys break up?! Or worse: are you pregnant?!" she asked shocked. "No and no, but it has something to do with Benito." I answered slowly. "Okay, I'm listening." she said. I took a deep breath, before explaining everything to her. "So, let me get this straight. You faked the whole relationship to get rid of the annoying questions and now you actually started liking him?" she summed everything up. "Yeah." I confirmed. "I should be mad at you for not telling me, but I kind of understand where you guys were coming from." she replied, looking like she had to let everything sink in. "Jenny, I don't know what to do anymore." I exclaimed frustrated. "You should tell him." she told me straight away. "He doesn't like me back." I replied, sighing. "Girl, from what you told me, he adores you. He got you the most expensive roses in whole LA, drove through the whole city to pick them up, initiated the first real kiss you shared and was the one who made the sex-rule disappear. Benito's definitely into you." she countered. Right when I wanted to say something, my phone vibrated next to me. "He just texted me." I told her. "What does he say?" she asked excited. "He wants to meet me at his favorite place. Bet his date with Marina didn't go very well." I answered, rolling my eyes. "Hannah, he wants a date with you." Jenny laughed. "You think?" I questioned unsure. "Did he say anything else than that?" she countered, carrying me around in her apartment. "He said he's waiting there for me and that's it." I answered, looking at the text. "What is his favorite place?" Jenny then wanted to know. "It's the top of a hill behind his house." I told her. In the moment that I said it, I realized that she was right. "Oh my god! He said he had never shown it to anybody!" I exclaimed excited. "Then what are you waiting for? Go get your man!" she cheered, before saying goodbye and hanging up.
When I reached the hill, the sun was about to set. Benito was sitting there on a blanket. Two wine glasses were standing next to him as well as a plate with strawberries and other fruits on it. "Wow." I said, when I reached him, causing him to turn around. "You came." he exclaimed happily. "Of course, I did. Why wouldn't I?" I answered, sitting down next to him. "You didn't reply, so I thought, you'd rather stay at home." he admitted, looking at his feet. "Then I would've told you. I was just talking to Jennifer and then forgot to tell you." I explained, shrugging. "Here, I got you something." he then said, pulling out a small box from his pocket. He handed it over to me with a smile on his face. I slowly took it and opened it; it was a bracelet with a small heart as a pendant. When I had been in Puerto Rico for the first time, we had walked through Old San Juan and I had seen it in the window of a cute little shop. "Benito, that's beautiful." I said, pulling it out of the box. "I have one too." he told me, holding his hand up to show me his leather bracelet. Smiling, I asked him to help me put it on. "Did you go to the shop to get it?" I asked, looking at the pendant. "Yeah, wanted to get both of them myself because you liked them so much." he then admitted, moving closer to me. "You accepted a two hour drive just to get those? Why would you do that?" I asked confused. "For somebody who can read people like books, you can be incredibly blind." he answered, pulling me onto his lap by my hip. I still looked at him confused, but didn't say anything. Benito leaned in and stopped right before our lips were touching. "I bought them because you're the second girl, Hannah." he whispered against them. My heart was racing and my thoughts were running wild. Benito slowly pressed his lips onto mine. Immediately, I closed my eyes and returned the kiss.
