Marina was sitting next to me at my pool, holding her feet into the water. We had spent the day at my place, watching movies and laying around lazily. It wasn't the first time that we had met up within the eight months of her believing that I was in a relationship. Still, my mind was constantly drifting off to what Hannah was doing. She had told me that she was going to spend her day with Jenny. "Te extrañé, Benito." I heard Marina say next to me which ripped me out of my thoughts. She reached out for my hand and grabbed it. That was the first time that she was craving physical contact ever since we had started hanging out again. With a smile on my face, I turned to face her. "Te extrañé también." I then told her. "Me di cuenta de que estaba equivocada y que dejarte fue la peor decisión que he hecho." she said, looking down at our hands. I had waited for that moment for almost two years and still it didn't feel right anymore. Suddenly, I remembered all of the pain she had caused me, the things she had said and the way she had made me feel in the moment that she had told me about the other guy. I wasn't so sure about us anymore, but I was willing to give it a try. "Benito, quiero que volvamos a estar juntos." Marina continued, when I hadn't said anything. "Estoy en una relación y necesito tiempo para volver a confiar en ti." I honestly replied, closing my hand around hers. "Entiendo y te doy todo el tiempo que necesites." she answered, nodding.
Two weeks later, I was picking Hannah up from the airport in San Juan. I hadn't seen her in over a month and I had missed her incredibly, so I was impatiently waiting for her in front of the entrance to the airport. Since it was quite late, there were only few people coming out of the building. The longer I waited, the more nervous I got. Finally, I spotted her coming towards the door. She was looking down at her phone, so she didn't notice that I was actually running up to her. Right before I reached her, she put the phone back into her pocket. A smile spread across her face, when she saw me. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her into a tight hug. Hannah buried her face in my chest. "I missed you." she mumbled, tightening the hug even more. Smiling, I placed a kiss on the top of her head. "I missed you too." I replied, when I pulled away from the hug. Intertwining our fingers, we started walking towards the exit. Yawning, Hannah got onto the passenger's seat of my car, while I put her luggage into the trunk. "I'm hungry." she informed me, closing her eyes. "You're always hungry." I answered, getting into the car as well. "Can we get something to eat on the way to your house, please?" she asked. "I actually cooked something." I told her as I started the engine. "You did?" she questioned surprised. "Well, I tried." I answered as we drove off.
After eating, Hannah immediately let herself fall onto the couch. Chuckling, I sat down next to her ans just stared at her in amusement. "You wanna go to bed?" I asked her. She groaned in response, but didn't move. "Was that a yes or a no?" I questioned because I still didn't know if she wanted to sleep or not. "I wanna go to bed, but I don't wanna get up." she mumbled into one of the pillows. "I think, I can help you with that." I told her, getting up from the couch. Slowly, she turned around to see what I was doing. I bent over her, wrapped my arms around her and picked her up. Without warning, I threw her over my shoulder, causing her to squeal a little. "What are you doing?" she giggled. "I'm carrying you to the bedroom." I answered, making my way up the stairs. As we made it to the bedroom, I gently put her down onto the bed. Hannah, brushed her hair that had fallen into her face out of it and smiled up at me. I took off my shirt and climbed into bed next her. With a tired smile on her face, she looked at me, still sitting at the edge of the mattress where I had put her down. "Didn't you wanna go to sleep?" I asked, resting my head on my right hand. She didn't answer, but crawled up to me and attacked my sides. "First of all, I have to take revenge! You know how much I hate to be carried around like that." she said, while tickling me. Trying to grab her hands to make her stop, I couldn't hold in my laughter. Even though she barely ever tickled me, she knew exactly where to poke me. A few seconds later, she flipped her hair over her shoulder and laid down next to me like nothing happened but I wasn't gonna take it. Hannah was very ticklish; just the slightest touches sometimes made her jump and I took advantage of it in that moment. She immediately curled herself up to a ball, laughing loudly. Dios mío, how I had missed that sound. "Benito, stop! I can't breathe." she said between laughters. I stopped tickling her and just stared at her in amusement. When she relaxed and laid down normally again, I crawled on top of her. She had her eyes closed and the goofiest smile on her face. Slowly, I leaned in and placed an innocent kiss on her lips. Immediately, she kissed back and her hands found their way to my neck. Quickly, the kiss turned into a make out session with my hands roaming her body. After a while, she sat up to take off her shirt. I patiently waited for her to do so and reconnected our lips in the moment that she had pulled the shirt over her head.
Hannah's even breathing was like music to my ears and still I couldn't fall asleep. My thoughts kept going back to the conversation I had had with Marina two weeks prior. I didn't know why, but somehow I didn't want her back anymore because it meant that I had to end the fake relationship with Hannah and I didn't want that. Sighing, I carefully pushed her head from my chest to get out of bed. Before I did so, I looked at her to make sure that I hadn't woken her up. There was only person that I could talk to about this and that was Aubrey because he knew about everything. Grabbing my phone from the nightstand, I walked over to the balcony of my bedroom. Quietly, I closed the door behind me and dialed his number. "Aye, Benito! What's up?" he greeted me as soon as he had answered the call. "Hi, Aubrey. How are you?" I replied, leaning myself against the balcony rail, always having an eye on my bed, so I could see if Hannah was still sleeping. "I'm good, how about you?" he answered my question. "Could be better." I admitted, sighing. "Why? Is everything okay with Hannah?" he immediately wanted to know concerned. "I need some advice..." I started hesitatingly. "Alright, tell me, what's wrong?" he said slowly. "I kind of started crushing on Hannah, but I also still like Marina and now I don't know what to do." I told him, feeling stupid. "Weren't you the one saying that there was no chance that you would develop feelings?" he questioned, sounding confused. "I know I said that, but she's doing something to me. She's mending my broken heart without even doing anything and even though she's not my real girlfriend, she makes me feel loved and appreciated. She's amazing in every way possible." I explained to him. It was frustrating me that I couldn't put it into words how I felt about her because there was nothing that could nearly describe it. "Wow, um, I don't know what to say. It's been a while since you talked about a woman like that." he replied. "Anyway, I think you should dump Marina. Obviously Hannah would be the better choice and you still hold onto your ex like your life is depending on it." he then added honestly. "A part of me still wants to try it with Marina and two weeks ago she told me that she actually wants me back." I said, sighing once more. "Why would you go for a worthless rock if you can have a diamond?" he asked, referring to Marina with the rock and to Hannah with the diamond. "You're right, but I still need to think about it. Besides, I don't think that she actually likes me back." I answered, yawning a little. "The only way to find out, is to talk to her about it." he told me. "Yeah, I know... I'll try and sleep now. Good night, Aubrey and thanks for listening." I said, looking at the bed to see Hannah still sound asleep. "Alright, night! You're welcome, Conejo." he responded, before hanging up. Taking a deep breath, I walked back inside and laid down on the bed again. Closing my eyes, I wrapped my arms around Hannah and kissed the top of her head. A part of me wished that all of this was real and that it would never end, but I knew that it at some point had to.
