"Hey! Shawn, do you know about our school's urban legends?"

He pulled me by the shoulder while i was busy thinking about my schedule and asked me this stupid question.

The one asking me this stupid question is the one who ranked 2nd in the entrance exam. He is pretty smart and liked by everyone. That's why he is the class representative and I'm not. His name is Ryxen.

Though I may seem easy to talk to now since Lisa and Rias keep butchering my peace but this doesn't mean that anybody can just come and be all buddy buddy with me. I don't need any leech attached to me. So, I just gave him a stare and then ignored him. 

I think that worked because he silently returned to his desk. He probably hates me now. Well, I don't care.

A self study period. I want this kind of time everyday. Even though its called self study, I can barely find anybody actually studying. Lisa and Rias are busy talking about something. This means that there's no one now who can disturb me while i nap. Finally I can take a fine nap.

The best place to fall asleep in a school is your own desk. Just put your hands and head on the desk and close your eyes. That's all it takes.

But i don't think that god likes me that much. He doesn't want me to have a moment of peace, that's why he sent those two little demons in my life. 

 I hardly even closed my eyes but Rias and Lisa came shouting my name. Sometimes I think that these girls don't even have any reasons but still they disturb me.

"Shawn..Shawn..Shawn…."

Calling my name with such enthusiasm , it just points towards only one thing that it's gonna bother me.

"Shawn..you know there are few urban legends in our school."

"Urban legends...urban legends...it's making me feel frustrated. Why did I never encounter it then, huh...tell me girls."

"That's why we want to investigate it and you my friend, are going to accompany us."

"Why me, I am busy. Go find some else, shu….shu…."

"Then tell us Shawn, what's keeping you so busy."

They both asked me at the same time. When did they both got so close that they are even in sync.

"It's none of your business." I replied with a straight face but I wasn't able to keep eye contact.

Rias looked at me and with an evil smile that totally says you are doomed, and said..

"I know what you're gonna do. You will just head home and waste all your time watching tv or sleeping. At this level my refrigerator is much more productive than you."

Saying this all to my face..Rias sure doesn't hold back.

"Just leave me alone you two."

" I am not listening. You are going to come with us and that's final Shawn."

Looks like Rias is in a bad mood today..maybe Lisa forced her to investigate and now she wants me to join it too so that she doesn't get bored.

"Geez.. okay, but leave me alone for now..okk."

"That's good to hear. Meet us at 5 PM eve at the front of the school, tomorrow."

"Okay, sounds good to me"

And finally they left. I still don't understand why these two don't leave me alone at all. And of all the things these two are friends now.

Oh..i get it, God you really hate me, right..

After school, i thought why not ignore them and not go there but i discarded the idea. Because I know that those two will just barge into my house after that. So, I simply just went to the place.

I reached the school gate at 5 PM.

Since it's the weekend, I don't have to teach Lisa. But it's already 5:30 and those girls still have an appearance to make. Don't they have a little shame. They can't even show up at the time that they decided by themselves.

Oh! Here they are..

"You both took your sweet time.."

"No, we are on time Shawn. You were just early."

That's so smart of you Rias, what a quick reply. But I am not falling behind.

"Guess what? You should just accept the fact that you are at fault this time. Rias and Lisa you both wasted my time which I absolutely hate."

"Yeah..yeah.. whatever. Let's just break into the college already. I am not here to fight Shawn. And Lisa, are you coming or not?"

"Right behind you!! Shawn hurry up! Lets go!!!"

What a way to dodge the topic. Well..its not wise to make a scene at the front of school. So, i am going to leave this matter here.

"Okay, let's go, nutters."

We broke into the school. And even though it's still dark, we can only use touches but only inside as someone might see and report us.

As we walked through the hallway. We halfway started to realize the creepy atmosphere around the whole school. The frightening silence and weird noises. I can clearly see someone like Lisa chickening out now. But this time she seems confident. Maybe it's just the excitement masking the presence of fear for her.

 But Lisa has not been talking to me that much since that incident and Rias being Rias, since I discovered her little attitude, she's treating me quite harshly. I may have miffed Rias in some way after that. Anyway i need to break the silence because it's getting awkward now.

"So, Lisa, what was the urban legend that you heard?"

"You want to know shawn, okay! Listen. The first legend is 'the hanging boy of the rooftop' that's why we are heading there."

"But do you believe in urban legends Rias?"

Oh! nice going Lisa. Asking such a question straight to Rias, you really are frank.

"I think they are just made of rumours but these can also be some reason behind them. I mean there might be an explanation behind those rumours."

"Anyway i don't believe in them."

"Rias, that's so cool."

"Yeah, these words really sound cool coming from your mouth girl."

And here we are in front of the entrance to the rooftop with a lock on the door.

" Shit we don't have keys"

"Haha… calm down Rias I am here."

I quickly used my lock picking skills and got it.

"See all done!"

"That's impressive shawn. "

"yup, you can become a skilled thief."

"Thank you Lisa and what do you mean by that Rias."

"Nothing, ignore it."

"Now, you ladies can investigate what you want, all you want. I am just going to sit here and watch you wasted efforts."

Now that I think about it, every old school and college has some urban legends. Some of which are famous like the Hanako-san of the toilet and there was a legend related to the staircase too. These can be true or may just be false rumours. No one can say. But I am sure that there is some kind of reason behind all those.

"Oh! You two are done already? Did you find what you were looking for?"

"Nope, there isn't a sign of hanging boy."

"See, there is no point in all this, but I want to know what is this hanging boy, of whom you are this big of a fan Lisa?"

"Actually this urban legend is about a boy hanging from the side of the roof asking for help and if you try to help him, he will just drag you down with him."

"But that's just something made up by idiots."

Looks like Rias is confident about what she is saying.

"If you say so Rias. By the way, where are we heading to now?"

"Music room, as there is an urban legend about a ghost playing the piano at night."

Isn't this too cliché.

I looked at Rias. And even she is making an expression that literally shouts out that 'are you serious'.

"By the way Lisa, from where did you get all this info about our college's urban legends?"

"Shawn, do you not know that our college has a social media page. They have all the latest news related to our college. And this is where i read an article about our college's urban legends."

"I won't follow such a useless page. By the way we have reached our destination so lets just open the door and enter the room ladies."

"Shawn could you please switch on the lights."

"Ok Rias, and looks like nobody is here."

"Those are just rumours and I have been telling you to just return home."

"Yeah.. i know you are right Rias but since we all are here why don't i play something for both of you. Just listen to my play. "

I sat down on the chair in front of the piano and played it like a pro. I was forced to take piano lessons up until recently. That's why i am good at it.

"Wow Shawn, that was wonderful. I never knew that you also know how to play a piano."

"Thank you Lisa."

"That was Moonlight Sonata, right?"

"Rias, you know that, i am surprised!"

"I like listening to piano , that's why I know that."

"Anyways, let's head back now and Shawn, switch off the lights."

"Okay Rias."

Although she sounded rude, I believe she is just acting.

Now, we are on the hallway and it looks like Lisa is going to reveal another urban legend.

"So guys..this is the last urban legend that i recall. It's called 'the shadow of the hallway'. People say that they have seen the shadow of a boy walking down the hallway from the outside from outside the school."

"Thats creepy." I replied while making a face clearly indicating that I am bored now.

"But it's night now so there's no point being here. Lets just return for now."

Looks like Rias lost all her interest. I can say this just by listening to those words of hers.

We left the school and then I looked at the watch to find that it was 7:53 already.

"Okay guys..i will have to run now, bye!!"

While running I noticed that the music room's light was still ON. Maybe I forgot to switch OFF the lights. After that i reached my home and somehow managed to make something to eat for dinner and during that time i realised that maybe i am the reason behind all those urban legends. There might be a chance that someone saw me walking through the hallway and there was the incident with Lisa pushing me down the rooftop. But well if yes then this means my words were true that are always some reason behind all the urban legends.

Next day, we again came across a rumour that someone heard a piano being played in the school around 8 PM and they also noticed that the light was ON and after the music stopped it turned OFF and they immediately ran from the scene.

Looks like some of the legends might be true after all.
