the sun awoke just before yoongi did. it was still rising when his eyes peeled open, painting the sky in a blended orange, red and blue. a smile was plastered onto his lips as he watched it change, barely noticing when the sun was completely visible in the sky, blue overtaking the red and orange that was once there.
hoseok lay peacefully beside him, turned towards him with a content smile on his face, hair panning over his forehead. yoongi didn't dare disturb him, so he moved away as quietly as he could and avoided all the leaves he could, the autumn breeze making him shiver under his pyjamas. up until now he had completely forgotten he was in them, the rush from the night before had overtaken his mind.
his hands ran over the many lumps and bumps he had on his arms, after many nights of injuring himself from the suspense and complete uncomfortableness of being trapped indoors while the sun was hidden. he knew that they weren't going to fade away, and that's not the seer side of him talking, it's the realistic side of him. how were they going to? magic?
(ok, maybe.)
it took around fifteen minutes for stirring in the leaves to finally arrive, but it wasn't hoseok as he was expecting. the boy from yoongi's first day, the one with blue hair, was speeding up as he proceeded towards a still sleeping hoseok and a protecting yoongi.
"why is the prince out here?" he called, his small hands now being curled up, pressed against his sides.
"shh, keep your voice down, he's asleep. we were...he wanted to see the trees, so we left early morning, and-and he was still a bit groggy and fell asleep. i apologise if this causes any inconvenience." yoongi spoke quietly, standing up to move closer to the boy who was slightly shorter than him.
"did you get permission from the guards?" the boy sunk down to sit next to hoseok, and yoongi's life flashed before his eyes in a total of one second. they had snuck out.
"well, he's the prince. he said he didn't need it." he quickly mustered a lie, placing himself down on the other side of hoseok, using his finger to move the hair from his forehead and to let it dangle within the rest of his hair.
"who are you? you seem to have taken a liking to our prince. why are you here, at the castle?"
"i'm min yoongi, and i'm here to look after hoseok. i'm the seer that king heechul sent for," yoongi muttered, smiling down at hoseok who had now shifted his body to face away from the blue haired boy and towards him. "you're park jimin, the knight with the water powers. hoseok told me a while ago, and about your friend taehyung."
"o-oh, taehyung-ah," jimin stuttered gently, and caught the smirk dangling from the older's lips. "what're you smirking at!"
"he also told me that a certain someone has a crush on taehyung." yoongi whispered and received a cold, hard glare in return, and he almost gagged on his hand from stuffing it into his mouth to prevent his laughter from being loud.
"so, you and the prince seem close." jimin quickly changed the subject, running a hand through his hair and pushing it away from his forehead.
"i would like to think we are, as close as two can be for knowing each other for two weeks," yoongi smiled down at the sleeping prince but spoke to jimin in a gentle voice, resisting the urge to place his hand back into hoseok's hair. "i like him and he likes me, fortunately. we do have to spend a lot of time together."
"that's cute," jimin's voice progressively became quieter and quieter and his eyes were on a figure which was running towards them; they seemed to have red hair and yoongi could immediately tell it was jimin's friend, taehyung. "t-tae!"
"hi!" he cheered, throwing himself down next to jimin and clattering against the much shorter boy, sending him to the side slightly and arousing a stir from the sleeping prince. "oops."
"mmm...yoongi hyung?" the boy groaned quietly, rubbing at his eyes with a balled up fist. a smile worked it's way onto the seer's lips, chuckling quietly at his bed head.
"right here, hoseokie. we have visitors." yoongi took one of hoseok's hands and pulled him up into a sitting position, motioning to the pair of boys who were sat awfully close.
"taehyung-ah, jimin-ah!" hoseok grinned and rubbed at his eyes again, this time with the palms of his hands, then proceeded to attempt to fix his hair.
"hi, hyung!" the two cheered and hugged the prince briefly, then forcing themselves up to their feet.
"we really should be going to training now. it was nice to meet you, yoongi hyung! we'll see you later!" jimin babbled when taehyung grabbed onto his hand and dragged him away, his feet picking up to running speed.
"did you sleep okay?" hoseok quickly turned towards yoongi once they could no longer hear the two, his hands pressing into the older's shoulders.
"i slept brilliantly, that's the problem," yoongi sighed, letting his head drop and his eyes trail along the grass, slightly damp but extremely comforting. "i shouldn't have, i should have been uncomfortable lying on the floor. i'm a filthy half blood."
"don't call yourself that," hoseok automatically spoke, moving one hand to make yoongi face him again, a giddy feeling swarming him when his face started to tint red. "you might be a half blood, you might not be, but you're most certainly not filthy, hyung. if you were, you wouldn't be here protecting me, would you?"
it took a minute for yoongi to reply, shaking his head gently and watching as the smile spread across hoseok's face. both now had their legs crossed, knees pressed together.
"i'm very hungry. should we go and steal food from the kitchen? c'mon!"
when hoseok grabbed his hand and pulled him from his position and towards the castle, yoongi was sure he was now definitely there to protect hoseok, not for the money. he was certain that he didn't just need to protect the prince, but that he wanted to.
