"I do swear in the name of the law that what I shall state shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth." Piper says taking a seat as they swear her in to testify.

"Piper thank you for coming I know this must be hard" The prosecutor says walking towards the stand. "Can you tell me the relationship you had, in regards to Kellyanna, Kyle, and Oscar Meyers"

"Oscar Meyers was my seven year old brother at the time of the shooting who I held helplessly as he bled out on the sidewalk outside the Chase bank on fourth street" Piper says looking at the jury. "As to my relationship with Kellyanna and Kyle Meyers, they were my mom and dad"

"What were you and your family doing here in Chicago as at the time of the incident you were residents and lived together in Los Angeles California am I correct" he asks looking back and forth between Piper the jury and the defense table.

"Yeah that's correct. We were here in Chicago because my Mom had ramen a case defending some high level drug dealer in a gang or something like that. She couldn't really talk about it much ya know law stuff or whatever, and since it was here, we all came to visit our Gramps and Grands while our mom has the case" Piper explains.

After a few other questions the prosecutor asks "What were you doing at the Chase bank on fourth at the time of the incident"

"My family has a tradition of donating to a sports team for the less privileged, we were getting some cash so we could go do that at one of the local rec centers" Piper explains on the verge of tears"And if I hadn't asked to do it that day we wouldn't have been there. If I didn't say let's fulfill our stupid tradition they'd still be alive"

"Where were you when you heard the shots ring out" He proceeds to ask her.

"I was in the SUV that was parked a little ways down the street, I was on FaceTime with my friend Briar so I stayed in the car" she replies.

"When you heard the shots what did you do"

"I got out of the vehicle and ran to see what happened. My parents may not have been on the right side of the law, in regards to the facts they were defense lawyers who defended often guilty people, but they raised ya to do the right thing. I got out of that car thinking it was someone else. Not my own family" she says clearly angry. "My mom died on the operating table from a bullet to the abdomen and one to the right lung, my dad was a DOA when the ambulance got there, from a bullet to head, and my brother, my seven year old brother Oscar bled out from being shot in the neck"

Soon enough it's the defenses turn.

"How do you know my client" The defense asks.

"We hung out a bit while my mom was working on the case up until the time they were murdered" Piper replies.

"Did you know my client was involved in a gang" he asks her.

"Not when we started hanging out." she replies "when I found out I kinda cut ties, I'd only get hurt, and obliviously I did"

"I believe the reason he hung out with me was to get close to the case, I found out he was in the same gang as the guy my mom was trying. I mean it worked. When they died he got a mistrial and was released, of course with the nature of Chicago they lost track of the dude and were never able to retry him"

"You say you saw him, my client Marcus Green the day of the shooting running away, do you think maybe it was that you remembered his face from the times you hung out" he asks her as I watch her tense up.

"Piper please answer the question" the judge says turning to face her.

"I know what I saw" she replies weakly.

"Have you ever had sexual relations with the defendant" his lawyer asks.

I watch a disgusting grin grow in his face.

"Yes" she replies in a low volume.

"How many times have you had sex with my client Ms. Meyers" he asks looking at the Jury.

"4" she replies.

"Were any of those to spite your parents" he asks.

"Ye. . . Yes" she says stuttering.

"And why would that be Ms. Meyers" he asks looking her dead in the eyes as the defendant laughs.

"Mr Smith, I advise you get your client to be quite" the judge says sternly .

"They didn't approve of the Defendant Marcus Green, they said the likelihood he was in a gang was high being that we were in Chicago, were they wrong though" She retorts.

"The funniest part is he told me he was in the gang the last time we fucked. And I kept my distance after that night. I say he used me to get close learn our routines so that he could help the gang get their boss out, by causing the mistrial. He may not be guilty of murdering my family, but he sure as hell did play a roll in it." She says as the defense lawyer sits back down beside his client.  "

"I remember it now. I texted him that morning telling him what we were doing cause I still did wanna be friends, I told him we were going to the bank and then the rec center on fifth street" she says as tears start to fall from her face, which I wish I could just wipe away. "I invited him to go with us. Maybe make my mom and dad hate him less"

"So your saying you saw my client shoot your parents" he asks her.

"I don't know anymore" she replies.

"At this time the prosecution would like to ask for a recess and time to look into this" the lead prosecutor says standing up. 

"Mr. Hughes as a prosecutor you know the defendants right to a speedy trial, with that said I sentence Marcus Green to 5 years for conspiracy to commit murder with charges allowed to be added when the prosecution has more evidence" the judge says as she makes direct eye contact with the prosecutor before turning to Piper who's still sitting on the stand. "Ms. Meyers you may step down from the stand"

With that Piper gets up and walks out of the court room and down the hall to the front of the court house.

I catch up and walk out with her.

"Hey you did great" I say placing my hand on the small of her back.

"You probably think I'm a slut now" she says as a pair of gunshots ring out causing my world to go black.

An hour and a half later

The boys and I were hanging out with Kendall when I get a call, from Jaden's Mom Amy.

"What's up Amy" I ask picking up the phone, immediately hearing her sniffing.

"Something happened with Jaden and a girl, I think her name was Piper. John, Haley and I are flying to Chicago now, I don't know what to do" she says clearly stressed. "Do you guys think you can come. It doesn't have to be all of you, just please come"

"I'm on the next flight out with her brother, and whoever else wants to come" I say as Anthony makes eye contact with me.

"I got to go our flight is boarding, I'm sorry for bugging you I just thought you guys would wanna know"she says as we hang up.

"I'll stay here with the pups" Bryce says as the rest of us rush packing our stuff to go to Chicago.

"Ready to Go" Nessa asks as we all are gathered by the door.

Everyone is talking and you can barely understand what anyone is trying to say to anyone else.

"Will someone tell me what the fuck is going on" Kendall screams causing the rest of us to go silent before someone speaks up.

"Your sister, and Jaden they were both shot outside the court house" Josh says as Kendall breaksdown in my arms.

"I can't loose her too" he whispers and only I hear as we head to the car for the drive to the airport.

A/N my cat has been crying at the front door for the past two and a half hours so I'm awake at one in the morning and very salty. So to make me feel better I'm giving you a second chapter today ish.
