Kie's POV:

I really needed that night to take my mind off things. I totally panicked when I saw Cody at the beach playing sand volleyball with his friends. Luckily, JJ acted quick and I totally got Cody to notice me with JJ. I knew Cody was jealous. My evil plan might actually work.

It was weird holding hands with JJ at first, but then I forgot I was holding his hand. The next few days passed by and Cody left us alone.

I was working at the Wreck when John B came in. He got a table and ordered a burger. When I brought him his food and he said, "What made you decide to date JJ?"

"Honestly, I just wanted something different and JJ made me laugh and happy and why not"

"It's just funny because he always thought you were a spoiled brat"

"Ha, good to know"

"I shouldn't have said that"

"I'm glad you did" I smirked as it gave me something to give JJ shit about

We were closing soon and John B invited me over to his house to hang out with his friends. He said JJ was already there and I agreed to it because why not. It was part of our deal to prove to his friends he could be a good boyfriend.

I followed him there in my car and we walked inside and JJ looked over and asked, "What are you two doing?"

"I went to the Wreck and invited her to hang with us tonight"

"I feel left out, you were hanging out with my girlfriend without me"

"At least he doesn't think I'm a spoiled brat"

JJ looked at me and then at John B and said, "Really? You had to tell her that?"

"She's your girlfriend now, clearly you don't still think that"

I swallowed hard because I wasn't actually his girlfriend and he probably still thought that I was a spoiled brat. I see the place John B lives and I'm guessing JJ's house is similar. It's tiny compared to my parents. I feel guilty that he sees me as a spoiled brat.

JJ looked at me and then he looked down. I looked at him and said, "Can we talk outside?"

"Great, now I'm in trouble" JJ glared at John B as he followed me outside

We got outside and he brought me down to the dock and it looked like he was ready for me to yell at him. I was confused and he said, "Just say what you want to say, I can take it"

"I'm sorry.." I apologized

"What do you mean, you're sorry?" He asked confused

"That you think I'm a spoiled brat. I don't ever want to come across as a spoiled rich kook and I'm sorry that I made you think of me like that"

"You don't have to apologize... It was a long time ago and it was stupid"

"Tell me"

"Nah, doesn't matter anymore"

"It does to me, I'm your girlfriend, no keeping secrets from me"

JJ took a breath and he said, "We were in seventh grade and you brought in cupcakes for lunch for all your friends. There were a few left over and I asked if I could have one and one of the girls next to you said they were only for kooks because only kooks could afford to celebrate their birthdays and you laughed and that's how the whole spoiled brat thing got started"

I don't even remember that. I mean I do now that he mentioned it but I don't ever remember anyone saying that to him or me laughing. I looked at him and said, "I promise, I wasn't laughing at what she said. I don't ever remember even hearing that. If you would have asked me, I would have given you one. I'm sorry, JJ"

I gave him a hug and whispered, "For what it's worth, they were all bitches..."

He laughed as our huge broke and said, "Most kooks are"

"Hope that doesn't include me"

"No, you're one of the good ones"

"So are you" I whispered back

John B called out from a window and said, "Get a room"

JJ and I started laughing as we headed back inside and John B was ready to watch a movie. I sat by JJ and he looked at us and said, "Keep your hands where I can see them"

"You're disgusting" JJ said to his best friend

We watched the movie and it ended up being really good. It was late and I was going to leave and asked JJ if he wanted a ride home and he said no, he was going to crash at John B's. I wondered why JJ never went home to his own house. His dad must wonder where he is all the time.

The next day, I went to a local bakery and I bought two cupcakes. I texted JJ and said, "Meet me at our spot on the beach"

He was waiting for me when I got there and he said, "I thought dates weren't part of deal"

"This isn't a date. I have something for you"

I pulled out the box with the two cupcakes and said, "To make up for seventh grade"

He smiled and said, "You didn't have to do this, but thank you, Kie"

"You're welcome" I replied as we both grabbed a cupcake and started eating it

"Shit, Cody's here again" I said noticing him in the distance but this time he was with Steph

My blood was boiling and JJ grabbed my cupcake and put it back in the box. He put his in there too, but put his finger in the frosting and said, "Trust me"

He smeared the frosting right where my neck meets my shoulder. He leaned in and he started sucking, he was totally giving me a hickey. I moved my hands so they were on his back, near his head, and closed my eyes. Cody and Steph walked by without saying a word and once they passed, JJ stopped. I opened my eyes and he moved away.

"Sorry, you're gonna want to cover that up with some make-up"

"Actually, I'm going to leave it. Let Cody notice it"

"You're not mad?" He asked

"No, it was good thinking"

He handed me back my cupcake and I would never look at frosting the same again. My mind began to wonder and I wondered how experienced JJ was with things like this. What would JJ do to other areas of my body with that frosting... I snapped myself out of those dirty thoughts because he was only my fake boyfriend.

"What were you thinking about?" He asked

"I think we should kiss... Tomorrow at the party for Cody to see"

"You ready for that?" He asked

"As ready as I'll ever be, but remember the rules. No tongue"

"I promise, just a simple kiss" He agreed

We both left the beach and went home. I went into my closet and tried to figure out what to wear to the party tomorrow. I needed to look hot for Cody to notice me, especially since he was hanging out with Steph tonight. I texted Sarah and asked her what to wear and she said that she had something I could borrow. I told her that JJ and I were going to kiss at the party tomorrow night to get Cody's attention. I was so nervous to kiss him tomorrow.
