Chapter 8
Nightlight was aimlessly walking through the forest until he sees a shadowy figure rush through the forest in front of him.
"Hey wait! Come back!" He shouts as he ran to the direction the figure went.
Nightlight runs into a pitch black area but it wasn't much of a problem for him with his glow in the dark yellow rings all over his body. He sniffed the air and caught the familiar scent of the creature. He ran up a hill and jumped on top of a pile of rocks. He was now atop a mountain. He saw the dark creature sitting at the edge of the cliff.
The creature was a gray-brown Fox-like Pokémon with crimson and black accents. His large red voluminous mane with black tips in a blue ponytail was blowing in the wind.
"Who are you?" Nightlight said. "Why do I know your scent so well?"
The Zoroark laughed. "You don't remember do you?"
"No I don't recall knowing a Zoroark" Nightlight replied. "Maybe it will be kind of you to tell me your name?"
"Hm..." the Zoroark faced the Umbreon. "My name is Eclipse."
Nightlight had no idea but that name sounded familiar to him but he couldn't remember how he knew.
"Still you don't remember anything do you, you little simpleton" Eclipse replied. He turned away and looked up at the night sky. Nightlight approached him cautiously to take a closer look at him. He saw a scar the size of his own crossing his left eye. From that discovery a memory of his childhood was brought back into his mind. He had a flashback of when he was just a little pre-evolution Eevee.
He was in the village playing with a Zorua.
The Zorua spoke. "Hey Nightlight, do you want to battle?" The Zorua asked.
"Challenge accepted Eclipse." Young Nightlight replied.
"If two Pokémon's eyes meet. They have to battle" Eclipse grinned. Eclipse charged and released a Shadow Ball at Nightlight but he countered it with an even bigger Shadow Ball. Eclipse came back with a Night Slash. Nightlight dodged the attack and used Quick Attack, slamming into Eclipse hard. He quickly recovered and looked at Nightlight with a Mean Look and struck him with a Night Slash to the face by accident. The attack left a deep cut crossing his right eye that would leave a scar.
Nightlight was enraged at that point and swung an Iron Tail at his left eye causing the same sized scar. Eclipse winced in pain and ran into the dark forest without looking back at Nightlight.
His flash back ended. He was about to speak but Eclipse started talking before he could. "You attacked me on purpose. That scar I made was an accident and you hit me on purpose. We were best friends long ago Nightlight, how could you forget that day you hurt me. How could you forget our friendship."
"I-I didn't mean to Eclipse. I'm sorry" Nightlight apologized.
"It's too late for forgiveness now Nightlight. The damage has been done" Eclipse growled.
Suddenly, two blood red eyes appeared out of no where followed by a large creepy smile and a dark purple round body appeared out of nowhere.
"Boo!" The Gengar shouted frightening Nightlight. The Gengar laughed at him.
"Hey! Are you mad!! You almost gave me a heart attack!!" Nightlight yelled.
"We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad-" the Gengar was interrupted.
"How do you know I'm mad?" Nightlight asked.
"You must be or you wouldn't have come here. You know we're not living in a Wonderland right, Blacky?" The Gengar joked.
"I know that and don't call me Blacky!" Nightlight growled.
"Don't be a grumpy cat" the Gengar said. Nightlight rolled his eyes at that remark.
The Gengar laughed and floated towards Nightlight. "I see you've met my apprentice"
"Apprentice?" Nightlight asked surprised.
"Yes, he teaches me everything he knows" Eclipse replied.
"I see you're filled with the jealousy Blacky" the Gengar cackled joyfully as he pranced around him."You are jealous of a young Eevee they call Faith." Nightlight was surprised that he knew about her. "How do you know-" Nightlight was interrupted.
The Gengar laughed heartlessly. "I've been watching her. She is quite strong, maybe stronger than you" he teased.
"She is not! She's just a weak young Eevee" Nightlight growled angrily at the Gengar.
"Yes let all the anger out. Feel jealous of her. You will be very useful to me" The Gengar thought.
"Do you want to show everyone how stronger you are than a pathetic little Eevee?"
"Yes" Nightlight thought not thinking it through at all.
"Good. Now in order to do that, you must show me that you are worthy for my teaching" he cackled evily.
"What must I do" Nightlight said.

The next morning Faith woke up earlier than anyone else in the village. She felt like something was wrong but she didn't know why.
"Since everyone is still asleep I might as well do some training on my Psychic powers. Sakura did tell me to train at the village if I can." She thought.
From that, she walked to the pond where the Vaporeon always loved to swim and play in. She began to skip stones across the pond using her Psychic. She was improving on Psychic but she thought that she should try something else.
"Maybe I should try Psybeam" she thought.
She attempted to use her gem to shoot a Psybeam at a tree, but all she could make was just a few small sparks.
"Come on! Come on!" She thought. "I can do this I just got to try harder." She tried a few more times before she collapsed to the ground in exhaustion. Her ears dropped down.
"I just can't... do it" she panted.
"Come on Faith!!! Don't give up! You have to believe in yourself and you can do it" she motivated herself as she looked at her reflection in the pond. She got back up to her paws to try again. She wasn't going to give up that quickly. She just had to try.
She remembered the words that Clairvoya said to her. "I have Faith in you"
That was all she had to think about to keep on trying. She had to do this for Clairvoya, for her friends and for Eeveeville. She focused on the tree she was aiming for and tried to use Psybeam again. She only managed to get a small spark out before she became an Eevee again. She groaned in annoyance. "I almost had it, why did I have to transform back now" she moaned.
Serena and Lillie were both up and right outside of their den. They spotted Faith sitting by the pond and decided to see her. "Hey Faith what are you doing up so early?!" Serena asked.
Faith was surprised to see them. "Oh I was just... er... I just woke up and I couldn't go back to sleep so I decided to skip stones across the water" she answered.
"Oh, okay? Well you want to go take a stroll around the forest with us for a while?" Serena asked.
"But doesn't that get you into trouble?" Faith asked.
"Well yeah but we still like doing it rather than just staying at the village skipping stones" Serena replied.
"Well I'll pass" Faith said.
"Okay if you say so. Come on Lillie." Serena and Lillie left Faith alone beside the pond.
