The whole pub was applauding for some minutes. Eric was worth it. Eva and I smiled at each other to share the emotions we had inside. His performance was still in our heads, and we didn't want it to stop. But the evening couldn't end in such a good way. Something had to happen to damage our high spirits.

   That time it was Alex.

   He was a guy from our college. The short, weird young man with the terrible taste in clothes. I didn't even believe that he could sing, but by the way... How did he study at the same faculty with such talented guys? No one had an idea. Neither did I. Nevertheless, it wouldn't look so disgusting if he didn't have such bad manners. Eva would not deny that he was the strangest boy at our college.

   "Get away!" Eva screamed, having noticed him sit down at our table.

   "What are you doing here?" I asked, changing the expression of my face.

   Alex looked at me as if he was offended.

   "Here I am. How did I sing?" Eric wanted to know our opinion as soon as he returned to us. Eva's eyes started to shine like the Sun again.

   "You were fabulous!" answered she.

   Eric noticed Alex and couldn't find out what he was doing at our table. Then he also asked a question.

   "Alex? Why did you come?"

   "I..." He looked at me again, "I come here almost every week. Moreover, I saw you on the stage, the girls and... And I came to spend some time together with you. I think we have a lot in common, don't we? I also thought that Eva was upset with something. Didn't you notice that?"

   I had a desire to laugh. It looked unbelievable for such a situation. Neither me nor Eva understood what he meant.

   "You should go I think," Eric whispered not to attract people's attention. "Okay?"

   Alex didn't give an answer, and I couldn't be silent.

   "No, no," I calmed him down, "we will go home. It's so late and dark. So, we shouldn't stay here. Eric has ordered some food for us, but I am not hungry. Neither is Eva. I hope it will not be a problem, right?"

   I stood up and Eva did the same. She didn't want to look at Alex and talk to him. I was scared he was gonna do something or play a trick on us. That way it was a good idea just to leave the place. Eric followed us.

   "Oh, wait!" Alex stopped us on the way to the exit. We all sighed deeply. "Eva, you need a partner! Yes, you're absolutely right that streets are very dark now. You can get lost, so... I am here for you to be useful and helpful!"

   His smile was the only thing we wanted to get rid of. I had no idea how to refuse such an annoying guy. The evening was undoubtedly destroyed. Actually, we all heard that he was talking exactly to Eva. Had he fallen for her? No one knew.

   "I don't need your help or assistance. I want Eric to accompany me to the house!"

   "But I am the most interesting and attentive guy for you. You'll be in absolute safety with me. Just trust me. I am irreplaceable in things like this one. Don't you believe my words?"

   Alex stood his ground until Eric added his own opinion about the conversation.

   "Go with him. He wants it much more than I do. Moreover, I'll call a taxi. Don't be nervous. See you soon."

   It proved the fact something had gone wrong between them thanks to Alex. Eric left us easily, having said goodbye to us. Was it a good end of the wonderful meeting? I didn't think so. Eva looked at me and quickly said we needed to go. I opened the door of the pub and we left Alex the same way Eric had left us. We felt a mixture of emotions we couldn't talk about. From love to mess for an hour or less.
