Monkeys
"Jaan come here"
"Guggu nooo!"
"Can't y'all listen to me for once?"
Both the four and two year old boys nod negatively with a smile.
Reign the eldest was as boisterous as Arian the youngest. The two Kapoor scions were fond of making their mother run behind them. Their other favorite time pass included being clung to the parents, all the time. And when they don't, they run around the length and breadth of the gargantuan Krishnaraj kingdom!
After all they were the only heirs to the home and to the first clan of Bollywood!
Right now the boys post a quick nap were busy prancing around their nursery, scattering toys and lego pieces all across the room. Alia, their mom, scrunched her anger for the sake of her sanity. The boys were her and Ranbir's everything, their life but they also at times wanted to make her take her own life!
Today was another mad day at the Kapoors.
"Didi yeh dekhiye...pichli baar bhi bade baba ne red wala plane phenka tha. Phir ussi raat roye ki wahi plane wapis chahiye," Alia half heartedly smiled at the kid's new nanny. She was their youngest addition to the group of women than took care of the boys while Ranbir and Alia were away for work and other commitments. Younger nannies were always complaining while the older one's knew how to deal with the repetitive naughty behavior.
"Aur phir ussi raat tumhare bhaiyya ne ek dozen naye planes khareed liye taaki yeh badmash chup chap so jaye aur humein bhi sone de!" Uff, she had quite happening kids! Alia pressed her temple and resorted to look around for her youngest son, her little moon.
"Melaaa guggu aa jaa mumma ke paas aao." Not so little anymore Arian was his brother's shadow. Whatever he did, lil champ would follow. Tiny Arian looked up from his pile of toys at his mum, flashed her a big tooty smile and rejected her offer.
Their nanny stifled her laughter. She hadn't seen another bunch of exceptionally reactive kids. They were emotionally mature than many of their age. Their expressions were to die for. After all the apple didn't fall quite far from the tree. When parents happen to be the finest actors of the country, the kids would naturally be as expressive if not more.
"Okay I am telling Ayan chachu to not come. He said he will bring some cool stuff but let him stay at home. You two are too busy with your things. No time for mumma-"
"But always time for papa!"
From the door emerged a tall figure that naturally lighted up the whole room and of the people inside. Both the boys grinned at their father who looked at them with expectation. They had a ritual back in the days. That when either of them will enter the house after calling it a day, the kids will jump in to hug. Off lately they cared too less to follow.
Alia chuckled at Ranbir's disappointed expression.
"They don't give a damn about me. What makes you think you are anything greater?" He hit her arm playfully and proceeded to unwrap all the presents he bought for them.
"Ranbiirrrr I told you NO! Can't you get it?" Alia grunted looking at the servants entering the nursery with big and even bigger presents. "You are spoiling them!"
"Haan toh inko karunga na kisi aur ke baccho ko nahi. Who else we know plays with toys? Do you? No na, toh apne bacchon ko doonga. After all they bring life into our palace. Yeh mera jaan," he picked the giggling eldest and put him over his big shoulders "aur yeh meri duniya" he dragged the youngest kiddo to his lap and kissed his cherub cheeks.
The servants and helpers quietly left the room to give the adorable family their privacy.
Both the parents plopped on the bed with their babies in arm.
"Look at this mess. I get your mom now. She made it sound so fun." She recalls her memory of Neetu Kapoor fondly remembering Ranbir's childhood. He was a naughty child himself. With quite a few dazzling acts to his credit which included ringing the fire button in a building when no one was looking, just to see a reaction!
"This is fun. Hey don't blame my babies. They are the cutest bubs I know." Ranbir fake defended his kids and went on to blow raspberries on their stomach, making them erupt in laughter.
An hour later the kids were close to sleep, dozing off from their parent's shoulders. Ranbir looked at Reign holding his shirt with a cute fist. His face looked peaceful and quite, a contradiction to how he is when he wakes up. Arian had also resigned for sleep in his mommy's arm. Alia kissed his crown with affection, rubbing his back in an effort to not wake him up.
"I love this." Ranbir whispered with a brilliant smile. She knew what he meant.
The kids were immensely close to their parents as infants and would never leave them for another pair of arm. The whole family had tried to nurse them but to no avail. They just wouldn't budge. They loved their parents more than anybody else. "Mummy used to cry ki aata hi nahi unke paas. Such monkeys!" Alia kisses Reign's head while Ranbir holds Arian's dangling fingers.
"I secretly loved that a lot. You know much I wanted this, them. Naturally it felt great to have my children be so close to me that they would rather have my presence than anybody else's. I enjoyed that phase a lot. Now they're growing...this one's too! Urgh can we stop time for a sec?!" His low growl met with her nod. She hated it too. Her precious sons were growing up...perhaps growing afar?
Ranbir understood her clear as a day. They were each other's mirror. One look and the rest was decoded. He inched closer to her and held her with his right arm. She glowed under the low shade of the room.
"As long as they don't overgrown our laps like this, it's fine. And when they reach that phase, we will run and catch up. It's going to be a long journey...and trust me love, it's magical than anything else I've ever experienced. For now let's just enjoy what we have. Our little world."
She smiled and stroked her son's head. "Our monkeys!"

NOTE : Y'all will make fun of me when I say I saw this scenario in my head yesterday while in the church! So we had a grand church event and I happened to see two young mothers with their three naughty babies. They were such a bad mess. I felt pity for them. And ofc, the sight of kids these days pull me back to Ranlia and just like that this little thought played in my head of our babies running fater their babies.
I hope everyone's doing well. Ik I ain't much active these days but I can barely write much. I imagine them everyday but can't seem to put that into words like before. Currently I am looking forward to our baby's arrival and then me wrapping up my Twitter/Insta Ranlia page duties henceforth! So rn my mind is on the whole 'try-not-to-get-too-much-involved-with-the-ship' which seems to work off lately. I am not much addicted like I was at one point which in a weird way is nice.
Also their spottings are close to nil which is to my rescue :p I mean I miss the mawfully but also don't want withdrawal symptoms like I did when I tried leaving this around 2020 end! But stupid Ranbir brought me back with his wedding thoughts. This time it's final. Life needs major focus. Can't go astray anymore. Moreover I got everything i WANTED AND MORE this year itself almost like they knew that it was time for jem *cries*
Take care everyone. Just two months more for this beautiful 2022 to end and perhaps few more weeks left for our baby <3
Love and light,
Jemi :)
