Chapter 7: In the Palace
Erza was excited. She won the duel and Jellal was showing her to her room. In the palace!! She was going to live in the palace!
Erza looked around to see if she could find Rosemary, but she wasn't there.
"Um," she said in her best boy impression. "Don't you have an older sister or something?"
"Here to pick up girls?" Jellal grinned. Erza flushed red.
"N-no! I just heard that you had an older sister!" she explained frantically. the last thing she wanted was Jellal thinking she was gay. Oh wait, she thought. He thinks I'm a boy.
Jellal's smile vanished. "She died. Ten or eleven years ago."
Erza went pale. Rosemary was like a sister to her. She helped Erza learn how to use a sword.
"I'm sorry," she whispered.
Suddenly, they bumped into someone.
"Oops!" said a female voice. Erza looked up to see.... Juvia?
"I'm terribly sorr-" Juvia looked at Erza with an amused smile on her face.
"Reiki," she said aloud. Erza panicked. Did she know her identity?
Juvia looked at Jellal.
"Can I borrow Reiki for a second?" she asked him.
Jellal shrugged. "Sure."
Erza heard him mutter, "Here for less than 5 minutes and he's already picking up girls."
Erza was about to faint when Juvia asked if they could talk in private. I she finds out her true gender, Erza could be executed.
"Wh-what is it your highness?" Erza said.
Juvia gave her a huge hug. "You can drop the act." Juvia smiled. "Erza."
Erza gasped and pulled away. "How did you know?!"
"It's so obvious!" Juvia giggled. "This just proves the fact of how stupid boys are!"
"Let's hope that you're the only girl that finds out," Erza said seriously.
"It's ok," Juvia said. "The guys are a terrible influence on the girls anyway."
Erza laughed. "Well that's good to know."
Jellal poked his head through the curtains. "Hurry up, we gotta go."
Juvia and Erza started to panic again. "Did you hear our conversation?" Juvia asked slowly.
"No," Jellal said. "Is there something I must know?" He narrowed his eyes at Erza.
"Nope! Nothing to worry about!"
As they were walking to Erza's room, Jellal turned to her and said, "If you don't hit on my sister, I'm sure we'll get along fine."
Erza laughed. "You don't have to worry about that," she said.
Jellal smiled. "Good."
Erza didn't know why, but whenever Jellal smiled, her stomach did back flips.
They went to the knights' chambers, and stopped at a door there.
"Make yourself at home. Remember, though. Don't hit on my sister."
Erza sweat dropped. "L-like I said before, your highness, you don't have to worry about that."
Jellal chuckled. "If you say so. Training starts tomorrow morning." He waved, and walked to his chambers.
Erza flopped onto her bed. "What's wrong with me," she said under her breath. There was another knock at her door. Erza groaned. She wanted to be alone for sometime.
She opened her door to see Mirajane. "Mira!" she said happily. Mira walked into her room.
"It's cool, huh? Living in a palace," Mira said.
"Yes," Erza said sadly. She still couldn't get over the fact that Rosemary had died. It had happened so long ago! How could she have not known?
"The princess recognized me," she told Mira. Mira gasped. "What did she say? Is she going to tell the King?"
"No," Erza said happily. "We have some......... history together."
"You knew the princess?! You never told me you knew the princess! Does that mean you know the prince too? You-"
"Hush!" Erza said. "Someone might hear you!"
Mira looked at her expectantly. Erza sighed. "Yes I knew the prince and the princess. Jellal was my best friend. I knew Juvia too. They had an older sister named Rosemary. We called her 'Rose-nee. Apparently she died 10 years ago."
Mira blinked. "Well, that's a lot to process."
Erza sighed again, and crawled to the mattress. She burried her face in the pillows, and said, "Can you leave now? I'm tired. The prince was hard to beat."
Mira nodded and left the room. Erza gets up right when the door closes. She gets a strawberry cake that was in her luggage. and started to eat it.
Things will get better soon.
Erza sat up. A voice played in her head! It sounded very familiar, but she couldn't remember whose voice it was. It was a girl's voice, that was for sure. She brushed it off and went to sleep.
