Chapter 6: Mirrors and Duels

"Mirror, mirror on the wall," Ikaruga said, looking at herself in the mirror. "Who's the fairest of them all?"

The mirror replied, "You, my queen, are fair; it's true." This pleased the queen, but then the mirror said, "But Juvia is even fairer than you."

Ikaruga was so mad. She called over her huntsman.

"You called for me, your highness?" The huntsman said.

"Yes. Take Juvia out into the woods and leave her there to get killed by the beast. Or maybe the wolves," the queen said.

"But wh-"

"Don't talk back to me!" she said in a threatening voice.

"Yes, my queen."

Juvia was watching her brother dueling from her balcony. "Go Jellal-san!!" she cheered.

"Reiki Scarlet," her stepfather announced.

This Reiki guy looked oddly familiar.

Just then, a servant came into her room and said, "Tonight, you're going hunting with the huntsman. Be ready."

Juvia was surprised. Her mother was letting her go outside? Was she in a good mood? Why to go hunting? Sure, when Juvia was little she used to play fight with Jellal, but it wasn't serious. It wasn't like how Jellal and Rosemary used to sword fight. They used to train seriously. Juvia couldn't hunt.

So many questions were bombarding her mind.

Jellal got in a stance when his duel with Reiki began.

Jellal attacked

He dodged.

Jellal attacked.

He dodged.

Reiki wasn't even attacking him. Jellal was getting bored. He stopped playing seriously.

Just then, Reiki attacked. Jellal frowned. Why wasn't he attacking before? They were fighting a little more seriously, when Jellal's sword scraped Reiki's cheek.

Reiki stopped, and touched his cheek with his hand. When he looked at his hand, he saw blood. Jellal saw Reiki frown and get into a different stance than he was in before. He was starting to get serious about this.

Their swords clashed at each other more violently now. Jellal could see Reiki's red hair plastered to his forehead with sweat.

Mira, sitting in the perimeter of the arena, whispered to the person next to her, "This is turning into one heated battle!"

Jellal got distracted by someone in the crowd, which gave Reiki a chance to attack.

And he did.

Jellal got pushed to the ground, and Reiki sat on his chest, so he couldn't get up. His sword was pointing towards Jellal's throat.

Faust was flabbergasted. No one has ever beat his son before.

"H-he cheated!" Faust stammered as Jellal and Reiki got up from the ground.

"No father," Jellal said sounding annoyed. "He beat me fair and square," he said, even though he was plenty sore about it himself.

Reiki smirked.

They didn't know his secret.
