Chapter 11: Running Away

Lucy was shocked to hear that Prince Natsu was hosting another ball. Her stepmother was very excited because she thought that the prince was in love with one of her daughters. (Even though he never got a chance to speak with them.) The day of the ball, after her stepmother and sisters left the house, she rushed outside to the juniper tree to see Levy waiting for her.

"As soon as I found out there was another ball, I expected you to be here," Levy said.

She waved her wand, and Lucy had on a dress even more magnificent than the other. Lucy hugged Levy and thanked her, before she dashed to the ball.

I'm kinda excited because I'm going to write this segment in Lisanna's POV!

Lisanna sighed. How did she get herself into this mess? One minute she was enjoying herself at the buffet, the next, she was dancing with Natsu, who was stepping all over her feet.

"I need help practicing before the girl comes," Natsu told her.

Lisanna snorted, "you're gonna have to find another girl to help you!" She said as she stuffed her face.

"It's too late!" He said pulling her up.

"Your getting my heels dirty!" she said.

"I thought they were stilettos!"

"I was wearing those last time!"

"Can you please just help me? Pleeeaase?" Natsu begged her.

Lisanna sighed in defeat. "Fine. But don't ask me again."

Natsu perked up. "Yay! You're the best friend a person could ask for!"

Lisanna smiled at Natsu's childishness. "You should me thanking me for EVERYTHING. I was the one who forced you to talk to her in the first place!"

Natsu blushed. "What girl? I'm not in love with anyone! What are you talking about?"

Lisanna smirked. "Yeah, I think it's a little too late for that."

Lisanna tried to help him-- by yelling at him when he did something wrong-- for a few minutes, when the same woman walked through the door, even more beautiful than last time. If that was possible.

Natsu looked at her and smiled. He let go of Lisanna who fell on the floor.

"Yeah, sure! Just drop your friend in the middle of the dance floor. After she helped you be with your love. That's nice, don't ya think?" she grumbled under her breath.

Lucy looked at Prince Natsu as he was dancing with the same white haired girl as last time. Her face fell. Last time, she thought she was his girlfriend of something. She was surprised when she was the one to make the prince dance with her. She hoped that they could become friends, but she got so caught up with Natsu, she forgot all about her.

Natsu looked at her and smiled letting go of the white haired girl. the white haired girl frowned when he dropped her, but when she caught Lucy's eye, she smiled.

Natsu cleared his throat, getting Lucy's attention. "May I have this dance?"

lol, i sound sooo cringe right now

She smiled, taking his hand.

"Wow!" she said after a few minutes. "You're doing a lot better than last time! Have you been practicing?"

Natsu laughed nervously, remembering Lisanna. "Um...kind of!"

He tried to look for her, scanning the crowd. He finally found her talking to her adoptive father. They seemed to be arguing about something. He tried to listen, but Lucy interrupted his thoughts.

"Is something the matter Prince Natsu?" she asked, concerned.

"It's nothing," he said. "You never told me your name. What is it?"

Lucy hesitated, "It's better if you don't know," she finally said.

"But--"

Lucy cut him off, running out of the palace, just as the clock struck 12.

"Wait--no! Come back! Did I offend you?" He tried running after her. He reached the staircase, where she was out of sight. A slight shimmer caught his eye. It was glistening in the moonlight.

It was a golden slipper.

Natsu was enraged.

"You need to find someone to marry! You're telling me you hosted two parties, and you still haven't found anyone?" Igneel screamed.

"There was one person-- I just didn't know her name," Natsu grumbled.

"That's it! I gave you a choice but you didn't take it! You're marrying Lisanna," Igneel concluded.

Lisanna's, who had been listening quietly, eyes widened, and she burst into tears. "You!" she said pointing to her adoptive father. "You planned this, didn't you?"

Her dad didn't say anything. He just sat quietly.

"What? No! You can't make me!" Natsu yelled back.

"Oh, yes I can! Plan the wedding to next month!" He told his advisors.

Natsu stormed out of the throne room, burning with anger. Later that night, he began to pack his things. He had enough. He was going to run away.

Lucy sneaked back to the cottage she lived in. For some reason, Levy's magic lasted a bit longer than expected. Unfortunately, her stepmother caught her trying to hide the dress.

"Where did you get this?" she asked her, grabbing the dress.

"It's none of your business!" Lucy said, trying to get the dress back.

"Did you steal it? What a terrible child!" She said with disgust. "No food for you tomorrow."

Lucy got mad. "YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO! I AM CAPABLE OF LIVING BY MYSELF! GIVE ME BACK MY DRESS! NOW!!" Lucy exploded.

Lucy's stepmother looked down on her with disgust. "How dare you,"she seethed through her teeth. "How dare you speak to your mother in that tone. Go to sleep, you filthy rat. Don't show me your ugly face.

"Oh and," she adds holding up Lucy's dress, "I'll be keeping this. You don't deserve beautiful dresses like these."

Lucy shook with anger. When everyone had gone to sleep, she stole food, and head out to the woods.

She had enough of her stepmother. She was going to run away.
