New Blurb - Feedback is Welcome

***I've put together a new blurb. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while. I liked my old one, but I thought it might be too unconventional. For the new one, I've returned to the "classic" form.

If you have a moment, please let me know what you think. I'll paste the old one at the bottom for the sake of comparison.

Thank you for weighing in. And thanks for reading!***

NEW BLURB

In Queen Andromeda's unforeseen absence, Scott MacRae has assumed power. His son, Joseph, is his right-hand man. And Pyxis, the fairy city they preside over, has never been more peaceful or prosperous.

This is the appearance they need the fairy world to behold. The truth is too cruel to fathom. They are painfully vulnerable. Evil is never very far. So they bury it deep and cling to the hope it won't claw its way out.

Scott MacRae knows in his gut that Andromeda will return and that his days could be numbered. It's no wonder he can't focus or sleep at night. His heart is full of holes. There is only one void he can possibly fill - if any. But as both a father and leader, any action he takes will have profound consequences.

Joseph believes what he wants to believe - that which makes him admired and respected, a fairy celebrity, everything he wasn't in his former human life. But his truth lurks in the shadows too. Try as he may, he's far from perfect. He can't forgive or forget. Or avoid temptation. He's come so far. He's found his purpose. And yet he still wants what he can't have, an ideal he perpetually fails to obtain.

Cassiopeia was always a princess, but for the first time ever, she's assumed the lifestyle she was never granted during her mother's reign. Despite the dress fittings, grand appearances, and a high-profile engagement, she doesn't have any real power in the kingdom she will supposedly inherit someday. She is small. She is wingless. She is not her mother. Her world never fails to remind her. Does it even matter? It's hard to say. Something is missing. Or someone. And she isn't who she once was.

The higher they rise, the harder they'll fall. . . ?

Christopher MacRae. He left four years ago and no one has heard from him since. Is he dead or alive? Is he the solution or the problem? And where is Andromeda anyway? If Christopher and his allies haven't vanquished what remains of her army . . . then who will?

OLD BLURB

Sometimes dreams do come true. . . .

"He looked down at his clothes. White--they always began that way."

And though love has failed before, perhaps this time it's meant to be. . . .

"He bounded toward her, grabbed for her hand. He missed. Falling to his knees, he fumbled for the dress. It was about as substantial as the cool, thin night air and it slipped right through his fingers. Once again, she danced between moonbeams, farther and farther away from him. Her laughter grew more distant. Soon, he couldn't tell if she was giggling . . . or weeping."

But evil has a will of its own. . . .

"Then that sound was gone, or more precisely, replaced. Drowned to nothing.

There was one, after another, after another. From all angles, they converged with their weapons and their armor. They headed right for the tiny forest nymph, so beautiful and precious to him. So defenseless."

Some will rise to the occasion, while others may fall. And only the strong will survive. . . .

"Though he felt weak, he pushed himself forward. One shaky stride in front of another. He heard nothing more than a muted whimper.

The noise was everywhere . . . and nowhere."

Who will ultimately rule Pyxis? In this epic sequel to "Fairy Tale: Winter's Bite," a star is rising. Blinded by their own ambition, most fairies of power and privilege can't see it. Yet there are others out there who seek the light with the intent to possess, manipulate, or destroy it.

Lastly, and against all odds, there is the one and only who will stand in their way. . . .
