Flashback

"Admit it already. We make a great team." you smile towards Mystogan, skipping next to him as you're leaving your third completed job with him.

"I guess we do." he smiles back.

"Anddddd..." you raise a brow at him, grinning like an idiot.

"I'm not sure what answer you're looking for." he says slightly confused.

"I was going to say 'and you would love for me to join you more often.' But you can say whatever you feel like." your grin now turning devilish.

"How about 'and I really enjoy having you around. I would love for you to join me more often.' Sound good?" He says, eyes straight ahead, focus on the path you two are headed down.

"Oh my Mavis, is the mysterious Mystogan asking little ol' me into a partnership?" you mock, placing a hand over your chest with as much drama as you can.

He broke into a rare laughing fit before answering. "Sure. Partnership. Is that what they're calling it these days?"

"I would assume so." you reply before going deeper into thought. Thoughts seem to be clouding your mind a lot these days, all of them about the blue haired boy next to you. "You're quite lucky Myst. I usually would make a potential partner take me on a date first, but you seem to have blinded me with your mysterious charm." you joke.

"I am a but hungry. There's a nice quiet cafe about 20 minutes down the road. It's perfect for a first date." he replied, seeming as serious as ever. You let out a nervous giggle and go quietly into thought again. He raises a brow to you now, like he's waiting for something.

"What?" you ask a little confused now yourself. "Wait, you we're serious?"

"Yes. I've ate there a few times and I think you would enjoy it." he looked ahead again, directing the two of you to continue your journey.

"Oh, ok." you say quietly. Placing a nervous hand on your neck you ask again, unsure of his unusual casualness at the moment. "Really?"

"What's wrong? Has the queen of flirting has been outwitted?" he ask, smirking at you. "I'm serious.. Unless you're not."

"No. I mean I was. I am. I- I- I just didn't think that would work." you blush.

"So you did want a date then?" he chuckles a little, and you grow more nervous. This feeling is not normal for you. "Relax. I would like a date as well. So let's get to it then." he replied, and you two made your way to your first date in comfortable silence.

End Flashback

"Here." Laxus says quietly, handing you a cup of tea. Sitting on his couch curled up in blanket, you begin looking around as you sip on the tea, relaxing a bit. His place is surprisingly well kept. Another surprise is how Laxus has treated you today. To you, he's never quite been the asshole he comes off as really, but he's never been this kind before either. "Does anyone else know? Anyone at all?" he ask after you seem to reach a stable level of calm. 

"Just Wendy." you answer honestly. "Myst and her were close when they were younger. When I first began to get sick he had her try to heal me. She figured it out soon after. She was like a sister to him, so it was nice to be able to share it with her of all people."

"Aunt Wendy." Laxus deadpanned you. 

"Huh?" you asked confused. 

"Aunt Wendy." he smiled a little. "She was like a sister to him. That would make her an aunt. Your child has an aunt."

"I guess you're right." you smile a little back to your comrade, taking in some more of your warm tea. "Never really thought of it I guess, since we planned on being in Edolas." After a moment of silence in your thoughts you begin to question, "We'll never be able to reach Edolas again, will we?" you question, fighting back your wave of emotion.

"I don't know." Laxus deadpans again. He never has been one for much emotion. "At this moment in time, I say no, we can't. No one really knows what the future holds though." His answer is exactly what is to be expected. It's the truth, but hearing it still hurts. "If you think about it, it's not the same, but you can't exactly say I have a dad either." he says, now moving from his seat across the room to sit next to you on the couch. "I personally will help in any way can. That kid will never feel alone. Besides, you're a member of Fairy Tail. You are surrounded by family. You won't go through this alone and neither will your child. I know you're worried about that, but you shouldn't be."

"Thank you, Laxus." you wrap the blanket tighter around you for comfort. "Hey, I never really thanked you.."

"For?" Laxus ask, confused. 

"All of it." you perk up a little. "I would have never grew a relationship with him without your help. And I would still be sitting against that forrest tree now if it wasn't for you." A slight blush was his only answer.

Flashback

"Look who came to the guild for once." Laxus smirked your way as you reached the second floor of the guild hall. 

"And she's alone!" Bixslow chimed in. 

"That tends to happen guys." you rebuttal, "This is my guild after all."

"We just meant it was unusual to see you without your boyfriend." Laxus smirked.

"He had a something he needed to do solo for a few days." you reply back, as you notice Laxus face changes slightly. His eyes grow wider until Bixslow speaks up, breaking the concentrated glances between you two.

"So he is your boyfriend?" he smirks. "I KNEW IT!" 

"I know you're jealous because you two couldn't find a date if you're lives depended on it, but give the girl a break, would you?" Evergreen came to your aid, putting an arm around you. "I want to hear all about it." You began to blush in response, realizing what everyone wanted to talk about. 

"About what?" you pretend to not have a clue at what she's hinting at. 

"Mystogan of course!" Evergreen giggles out.

"Yeah you two seem pretty close nowadays." Bixslow says with his tongue out. "If you know what I mean."

"Shut up Bixslow." Laxus grumbled. "That's why Mystogan ended up with a girlfriend before you."

End Flashback

"What's wrong?" Laxus asks as you jolt awake.

"Just a dream." you say, taking in your surroundings. Noticing how late it is and you are both laying on his couch. "I'm going to head home. You need your sleep."

"It's fine. You can stay here." Laxus suggest. "You shouldn't be alone tonight."

"That's kind of you Laxus, but I'll be ok." you say, getting up from your spot.

He gets up too, looking down at you. "Not tonight, I insist. It's too late for me to walk you home, and there's no way in hell you're going alone."

"Ok, if you're sure.." you ask one last time. 

"I am." he assures you. "Take my bed. I'll sleep on the couch."

"Laxus, I'm fine on the couch." 

"No, that will be so uncomfortable for the baby." he laughed a little. "My bed, go." he points to his room.

"Thank you, Laxus." you smile kindly at him, before heading off to bed.

The next day he took you to your house and made sure you were ok settling back in. Mystogan and you shared the house, so his things were all over. Everything was just like normal, until you cleaned up the laundry in the room. Smelling his scent still on his discarded shirt was brought you to your knees this time. That smell just left you wanting more. The realization began to set in that the scent would eventually fade, and that would be the last thing presence of him in your home. 

"(Y/n)...?" Laxus whispered, as he slowly pushed your door open more. You wanted to cheer up for him, but it seemed impossible. 

"Laxus, I'm fine." you sniffled as you spoke, wiping your eyes rapidly. "You should get to the guild. I need to clean up a bit around here today instead."

"No you don't. The place looks fine. Take a break." he said as he crossed your room, grabbing your arms and lifting you to your feet. "Why don't you come talk to Gramps? Wendy? They could both be a big help." 

"Maybe Wendy." you smile lightly. "I'm not ready to tell Gramps."

"Mind telling me why you're hesitating?" he ask, looking directly in your eyes. You look away from him, thinking about the idea.

"I just feel ashamed, I guess." you admit, looking down.

"Why?" he ask, not understanding. "It's not like this was a one night stand with a stranger."

"I know." you whisper looking back to him. "It's just, we kept it a secret from him.. from everyone. And now, I'm alone. I'm not going to be much help to the guild. I'm a burden."

"DAMNIT (Y/N), STOP SAYING THAT!" he yells out at you, scaring you slightly. "No one is going to think that. If anything, you're giving everyone a gift.. something real to remember Mystogan by. Quit acting like your child is some sort of stigma. He isn't." You giggle to yourself before looking up to reply to Laxus. "What?" he ask, slightly amused at your sudden amusement. 

"It's just funny. You assume my child is a boy." you giggle, noticing the blush appearing on his face. "It's going to be a girl."

"You don't know that." he replies, subconsciously looking down at your belly. "Even I know it's too early for you to tell."

"You're right about that part. Would you like to place a bet for win the time comes?"

"Brave of you, knowing you're going to lose." he smirks. "What do you have in mind Mama Bear?" 

"Ok first off, don't call me that." you laugh out very loudly. "Let's see.. if it is a girl, you have to let  her play Princess with you at least once.. including the dress up."

His eyes grow wide, and he grabs his neck as he thinks about the idea. "Fine." he finally agrees, standing up confident again. "If it's a boy.. I get to teach him some lightning magic. I'll be the 'Almighty Master Laxus' to him.  He's going to think i'm cooler than Gildarts."

It's impossible to contain your laughter and you agree happily. "Since my baby is definitely a girl, I thought you should know.. You're cooler than Gildarts to me, Laxus."

"Let's go to the guild for the day. Just to see Wendy at least. I'll keep everyone away from you a little longer, so you two, I mean three I guess, can have your peace right now."

"Thank you Lax. Let's go." you say, grabbing his hand and pulling him excitedly out of your house.
