It's been 2 months since the Grand Magic Games. Sabertooth is finally settling into their new lifestyle and all seems to be going well. That is until your boyfriend Rogue begins avoiding you. It's been blatantly obvious. The rest of the guild has noticed and their stares full of pity are driving you insane. Yukino looks like she wants to cry every time she talks to you. Sting keeps avoiding you in fear that he'll have to talk about it. Rufus keeps claiming he "has no memory" of anything pertaining to Rogue. Frosch clings onto you whenever possible, but is called away from you by Rogue every time. Not this time though - you're over this shit.

"(Y/N)! Fro misses you so much!" The cute little exceed yells jumping into your arms. 

"I miss you too Fro! More than you can imagine." you say embracing Frosch in the biggest hug you can manage. Then you hear it.

"FROSCH, COME HERE!" Rogue yells across the guild.

"But Rogue, I found (y/n)!" Frosch looks towards Rogue, before looking back at you with tears.

"I see that. Now COME HERE!" Rogue replies.

"Bye (y/n), Hope to see you la-" Frosch starts before you interrupt. Holding tightly onto your favorite exceed you boldy take a stance.

"No." simply stated. Simple, but enough to light a fire under Rogue's ass. 

"What did you just say to me?" Rogue growls slowly, clenching his fist.

"I said NO. Are you deaf?" you snap. 

"I must be. I know you're smarter than to tell me no when it comes to MY exceed." he yells taking two steps forward. 

"Frosch wants to see me and there's nothing wrong with that so get over yourself." you say, standing your ground. With that you see a flash of black where Rogue was. "I'm not scared of you or your shadows so you might as well show yourself." 

And with that he does. Rogue exits the shadows right in front of your face."I swear, you let my exceed go or so help m-" he begins but is quickly interrupted by Sting walking out with an arm extended in front of him, looking at his best friend.

"Don't you finish that sentence man. I mean it." Sting then drops his arm and turns towards you. "and (y/n), let Frosch go."

"STING IT'S NOT FUCKING FAIR AND YOU KNOW IT!" You yell back at him. Frosch has tears falling at this point and it causes everyone to pause.

"Fro wants you guys to should stop fighting!" he says rubbing at his eye. 

"I'm sorry Frosch. Don't cry." you say wiping away the tears and giving him a kiss on the head before putting him down at your feet. You eyes are now threatening to water as Rogue takes his exceed and exits the guild. 

You stare at the doors he exited from in a daze until you hear Sting speaking to you. "Did you guys break up and not tell anyone?!" he ask, grabbing at his hair and staring in the same spot. 

"If we did, I wasn't made aware of it." you grumble turning to face him. "I'm just as clueless as everyone else seems to be." you say now bringing your hands to cover your face, the tears finally escaping violently. Sting brings you into a hug, still staring at the door, but says nothing. 

The rest of the day you spent in your bed, tossing and turning, crying to yourself, imagination running wild with what could be your boyfriend's sudden problem. Yukino came to check on you, but you pretended to be asleep. Sting stopped in and let you know that he knows your pretending to sleep, because of his stupid dragon senses of course, but said that he would respect your wish and leave you be for the time being. You hoped he wasn't the only dragon that could sense your emotional state at the moment, but if he wasn't you wouldn't know. Rogue never came by your room once that day and you drifted off to sleep, only to be haunted in your dreams. 

There he is. Acnologia. The dragon that seemingly can't be stopped. Terrorizing the love of your life as you just stand by watching. Acnologia is fighting against Future Rogue, and although he isn't the Rogue you know, he's still your Rogue. You still love him. You're Rogue is a part of him. Acnologia is hitting him over and over again, and all you can do is watch. You try to reach for him, but your body doesn't move. With one last, fatal hit, Future Rogue falls to the ground, lifeless. You try to scream, but nothing comes out. 

Or so you thought... You jolt awake, throwing your head into your knees as you cry out loud. Gasping through tears. A black cloud appears in your room. You would recognize that cloud anywhere. "Go away Rogue." you say, clutching your knees still struggling to breathe. With that, he emerges.

"Why were you screaming?" he questions, looking around the room frantically. 

"Don't act as if you care now Rogue." You reply turning away from him. "I'm sorry I woke you. Go back to bed."

"No. Why were you screaming?!" he yells grabbing your shoulders.

"I had a nightmare! I didn't realize I was screaming. Go back to hating me in your own room!"  you insist covering your face with your blanket. 

"Fine." he walked to the door and grabbed the handle, but turned back to you before opening it. "I do care. Please don't make the mistake of thinking I don't."

"Really Rogue? You have a funny way of showing it." you sniffle, letting out another tear. His dragon senses picked up every bit of it and he walked over to the side of your bed and sat down. 

"I'm only trying to do whats best for you. I swear." he said tucking your hair out of your face. "I know this isn't what you think you want to hear, but I can't be with you. I'm afraid this is the end of the road for us." Rogue says, looking away. 

"Of course that's not what I want! But i saw it coming from a mile away. Just please, tell me why!" you say starting to sob uncontrollably now. "I deserve to know."

"I told you already. It's what is best for you." he replied through gritted teeth. 

"Please don't use me as an excuse. You know as well as I do that I am the one who clearly wants this relationship." you mutter, not making eye contact.

"Let me ask you something. Aren't you scared of me?" he questions turning more towards you. 

"What? No! Why would I be?" you finally meet his gaze. 

"Because you should be!" he growls. "You met future me. You saw everything I caused. You saw the person I became."

"Rogue, that doesn't matter. That's 7 years into the future. And that's only ONE possibility. Things changed and your future is not set in stone!" you argue, grabbing onto arm. 

"No one can promise it won't happen either! Don't you see that?" he says, putting both hands onto the one you grabbed his arm with.

"You're condemning yourself! You're writing off your life due to one possibility. I don't want this life full of fear for you Rogue. Please don't do this to yourself. You're doing a damn good job of fighting it every day! Don't you want me by your side to help? To see you accomplish exactly what future you said you can't?" you beg him.

"It doesn't matter what I want! That's the point. I won't put you in harms way for my selfish needs." he declares standing up and walking to the door. Before he could leave, you yelled out for him one last time.

"No, I'm not scared. Scared would mean I give up on you. That will NEVER happen. I don't care if you are taken by the darkness and are about to take my last breath, because it will be exactly where I WANT to be... with you." you said through watery eyes. "I'm in this until the very end."

He stopped to listen, but never turned to look at you. Once you finished, he left you to lay awake alone all night, scared of losing Rogue.
