We open with Natsu, Happy, and you outside Lucy's apartment.

You knock on the door and after a few minutes, a woman answers.

Woman: Yes?

Y/N: Excuse me. But is Lucy Heartfilia home?

Woman: Yeah.

The lady gives you directions to Lucy's apartment and you knock on the door. Lucy answers with a surprised look

Lucy: Oh hey.

Y/N: Morning. We got a job. Can we come in to talk about it?

The blonde lets the three of you inside and Natsu immediately starts looking around.

Natsu: Nice place ya got here.

Lucy smacks him as he messes with papers on a desk.

Lucy: Don't mess with that!

You notice the pages and realize Lucy's writing a book.

Y/N: You're writing a book?

Lucy puts the papers away.

Lucy: Yeah. Why?

Y/N: I love books. Could I give it a read sometime?

Lucy: Sorry but I told Levi she could read it first and it's not even finished yet.

You nod.

Y/N: Fair enough. If there's someone who loves books more than anyone else I know, it's definitely Levi.

Lucy: Anyway, you were talking about finding a job?

Y/N: Yeah.

You hold up a poster.

Y/N: A client wants us to steal a book. Seems pretty simple.

Natsu: Didn't the guy want it destroyed?

You remain silent for a moment.

Y/N: I would prefer not to destroy a book...

Happy: What's the big deal anyway?

Natsu: Yeah, it's just a bunch of paper...

You quickly stand up.

Y/N: Books are more than just a bunch of paper!

This sudden outburst surprises the group but you quickly regain your composure.

Y/N: Ahem... Anyway... The book is in the possession of one Duke Everlue. We just need to find a way into his estate, find the book, and... We'll deal with it from there.

Lucy reads the poster.

Lucy: It says Everlue is interested in maids.

Natsu: That's where you come in!

Y/N: Natsu does have a point. If you can get in as a maid looking for work, you can get us inside to find the book.

Lucy: ... I guess if my charm is needed... Oh! I almost forgot.

She holds up a silver gate key.

Lucy: I still haven't formed a contract with this spirit yet. You guys wanna see how Celestial Wizards form contracts with their spirits?

Natsu: Yeah!

Happy: Aye!

Y/N: Sure.

Lucy holds the key out and speaks.

Lucy: O Spirit, answer my call and pass through the gate! Open! Gate of Canis Minor! Nikora!

A small spirit appears.

Natsu: Eh?

Y/N: Not all spirits are gonna be giant axe carrying bulls, Natsu.

Lucy: Hi, Plue!

Natsu: Plue? I thought it was Nikora.

Lucy: That's just the type of spirit he is.

Lucy speaks with Plue, figuring out what days it can be called.

Natsu: Not as awesome as I expected...

We cut to the quartet going to meet with the client, an older man with his wife.

????: Welcome. I'm Kaby Melon.

Lucy: Melon, that sounds familiar.

Natsu: Like the fruit?

Y/N: Why is it always food with you?

Kaby: Now... I want you to find a particular book titled Daybreak and burn or otherwise destroy it.

Y/N: ...

Lucy: Can you tell us more about this book?

Natsu: Who cares?!

Lucy: We're talking about 200,000 Jewel.

Kaby: Actually, I'm willing to pay 2,000,000 Jewel.

Y/N: What?!

Kaby: Oh dear, you arrived not knowing the reward increased...

Lucy: Why so much?

Kaby: Because of how much I want that book destroyed.

Natsu drags Lucy and you off in excitement.

Your team arrives at Everlue's home and Lucy stands at the gate in a maid uniform while you, Natsu, and Happy hide.

Lucy: Hello! I heard you were looking for a blonde maid?

The ground rumbles as a giant of a maid comes out of the ground.

?????: You want to be a maid, huh?

A round man, you assume is Duke Everlue, comes out of the ground.

Everlue: Bo yo yo yo! A potential new hire?

He examines Lucy but turns away.

Everlue: Don't want you! Go home, Ugly.

This leaves Lucy in shock.

Lucy: Huh?

Four more maids with... Odd... Looks come out.

Everlue: Only the most beautiful young ladies will do!

You mutter under your breath.

Y/N: Talk about beauty being in the eye of the beholder...

After Lucy is thrown out, your team gets ready to infiltrate the manor. Happy takes turns flying the three of you up and Natsu melts a window to get inside.

Y/N: Let's move.

Unfortunately, Everlue's maids spring up.

?????: Get the intruders!

Y/N: Damn it!

You put your Swordriver on and place the Brave Dragon book in it before drawing your sword.

Rekka Battou!

Y/N: Henshin!

Brave Dragon!

With a slash, you transform and send the maids flying.

Saber: So much for stealth!

You make sure the maids are out of commission before your team reaches the library.

Lucy: Remember, the book is called Daybreak.

Natsu: Found it!

The pink haired Dragon Slayer holds up the book.

Natsu: Now to burn it!

Lucy: Wait!

She takes Daybreak from Natsu.

Lucy: Y/N! This author!

You read the author's name.

Saber: Kemu Zaleon?! Not only was he an amazing author, but a practicing wizard as well!

Natsu: Who cares? Let's just burn it.

Saber: I'm not keen on burning a book. Especially one made by Kemu Zaleon.

???????: I see. I see.

Everlue bursts out of the ground.

Everlue: Bo yo yo! So it was Daybreak you were after?! That worthless book huh?

You grip Rekka in rage.

Saber: NO BOOK IS WORTHLESS!

(Flashback)

We find you as a child crying. You had fallen and scrapped your knee.

????: Y/N? What's wrong?

A girl walks up and you look up at her.

Past Y/N: I-I...

The girl looks at your knee and nods

????: I see. Come on. We'll patch that up and I'll read you a story to cheer you up.

We end the flashback on the girl reading a book to you, now with bandages on your knee and a smile on your face.

You point your sword at the Duke as it engulfs in flames.

Saber: Then you shouldn't even have a library!

You turn on Natsu.

She starts to read the book right on the spot.

Everlue: Come, Vanish Brothers!

Two men come into view. You notice the emblems on their clothes as a guild mark.

Saber: The Southern Wolf... A bodyguard guild...

Everlue: Vanish Brothers! I want that book back!

Lucy notices something while reading Daybreak.

Lucy: Buy me some time! It looks like there's a secret behind this book!

She runs and you follow.

Natsu: Where are you going?!

Saber: I'm gonna help solve this! You can handle these guys!

Natsu: You jerk! This is because the burning thing, isn't it?!

You don't answer as you leave Natsu to handle the Vanish Brothers.

Your Thoughts: Those guys look tough... But Natsu can handle himself.

You and Lucy look through Daybreak in a sewer passage under the manor. Lucy uses magic glasses to speed read while you re-read it over and over in your head trying to decipher any possible codes... Unfortunately Everlue comes out of the wall and grabs Lucy.

Lucy: Hey!

Everlue: Now tell me that book's secrets!

Lucy: Never, you enemy of literature!

Everlue: Surely you don't mean me! You're speaking to a very, very, very, very highly educated aristocrat here! Where's the treasure map? It's where he hid his fortune, right?

Saber: Get off her!

You go to slash but Everlue uses Lucy like a shield.

Saber: Tch... Bastard...

Everlue: Now tell me those secrets! I had Kemu Zaleon write that book! If it has secrets they belong to me!

You grit your teeth. You can't attack without hurting Lucy but Happy flies in and tackles the fat Duke in his face.

Lucy: Happy!

Unfortunately, his heroic entrance is ruined by him falling into the sewer water.

Saber: Gross...

Lucy: Now the tables have turned!

She holds up one of her keys.

Everlue: A Celestial Wizard! But do you have a Spirit to help against my Diver Magic?!

He dives into the ground and goes for surprise attacks. You guard with Rekka and slash when you can only for the man to dive back into the ground.

Lucy: It's all written here! A crappy adventure story with Everlue as the main character!

Everlue: Using me as the hero was wonderful! But the execution was the problem! The idea that Kemu Zaleon could write such dung... Is insulting to me!

You block another attack.

Saber: You forced him to write it!

Lucy: Where do you get the nerve to act all high and mighty?

Everlue: Act?!

You pull Lucy to safety as Everlue goes for another attack.

Everlue: I AM high and mighty! He should have been honored to write a book for me!

Lucy: You blackmailed him into writing it!

Everlue: So what if I did? I'm sure everyone would agree that it's his own fault for refusing in the first place! If he didn't write it! I would have simply stripped his family of their citizenship! I locked him in my dungeon while he wrote it! Meditating on my greatness!

He goes for another pass but you let out a yell of rage. You tap the Brave Dragon book in your belt and your Dragon pauldron breathes fire in Everlue's direction, sending him stumbling back into the ground.

Saber: Torturing and threatening an author to make him write a book about you... You're disgusting! What makes you think you even deserve to be written about?!

Everlue: As if a brat like you could understand!

Saber: What I understand is that I'm sick and tired of your crap!

You slash at him, but he uses his Diver magic to evade. You respond by holding up a new book.

Jackun to Domamenoki!

Toaru shonen ga futo te ni ireta omame ga kyodaina ki to naru fushigi na hanashi...

You place the book in your belt and draw your sword again, gaining grey and teal plant themed armor on your left side and a vine wraps around your helmet's horn.

Rekka Battou! Nisatsu no hon o kasaneshi toki seinaru tsurugi ni chikara ga yadoru! Wonder Rider! Dragon! Jack-to-Mamenoki! Futatsu no zokusei o sonaeshi yaiba ga togisumasa reru!

Saber: Try dodging this!

You punch the ground with your left hand and vines shoot out of every hole Everlue has dug out, knocking the pudgy man out of his hiding place.

Saber: Your Diver magic is useless now!

Lucy: Alright! Open! Gate of the giant crab! Cancer!

A humanoid Spirit with crab legs on his back and crab themed scissors appears.

Cancer: Alright, Baby!

Everlue: You may have a counterplay to that, but I have more tricks up my sleeve!

He holds up a golden key.

Lucy: That's...

Everlue: Open! Gate of the Maiden! Virgo!

Lucy: He can summon Celestial Spirits?!

The giant pink haired maid appears but you're surprised to see Natsu hanging onto the spirit.

Natsu: What happened?

Lucy: Natsu?!

Saber: The Southern Wolf guys?

Natsu: Down for the count.

Lucy: You passed through the gate?! How did you survive the Celestial Spirit World?

Natsu: I held my breath.

Everlue: Virgo, crush them!

Virgo: Yes, Master!

Saber: I will be the one... Who decides how this story ends!

You prepare for a finisher.

Hissatsu Dohuka!
Dragon! Jack-to-Mamenoki! Nissatsu Geki! F-F-Fire!

Saber: Flaming Dragon Crushing Kick!

You fly by Virgo as your kick connects with Everlue.

Lucy: Now, Cancer!

The crab spirit is quick and with blinding snips of his scissors, Everlue is not only defeated but what hair he had was trimmed away.

Saber: You don't even deserve to be written about on a tissue.

You sheath Rekka as you de-transform.

Lucy: We did it!

Natsu: Now to burn the book!

Lucy & Y/N: NO!!!

You punch Natsu upside the head.

Lucy: We need to get this to Kaby.

Your team arrives at Kaby's home and offer the book to him.

Kaby: I asked you to destroy it. Why are you giving it to me?

Lucy: There's more to that book than it seems.

Y/N: We figured you should see before you decide on what to do.

The words of the book begin to magically rearrange and even the title of the story changes from Daybreak to Dear Kaby as Kemu Zaleon's name changed on the cover to Zekua Melon.

Lucy: Kemu Zaleon didn't quit writing because he was ashamed.

Y/N: He stopped because he made his true masterpiece. A final masterpiece for his son.

Kaby cries as he holds the book.

Kaby: Thank you... Let me repay you for this.

Natsu: Nah, keep the money.

Lucy: HUH?!

Natsu: The job was to destroy the book. If we aren't destroying it, then we shouldn't take the money.

Lucy: I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU GET OFF, BUT I STILL HAVE RENT TO PAY!!!

Natsu: We can just get another job.

You shake your head and sigh.

Y/N: What a day...
