Grand Magic Games...

Music and balloons filled the air as the arena was overcrowded with visitors from all over the world. The entire place was filled with roars and cheers as they anxiously waited for the upcoming events between guilds.

"Listen to all that cheering..." Erza spoke as she waited in a room with the rest of her teammates. After they had past the preliminaries, they all decided on a specific look to represent their team.

"There's so many people." Lucy agreed.

"They couldn't all be mages from Fiore..." Gray said as he listened to the noise, "There's probably a lot of regular people here, too..."

"Anyway, what's with these clothes..." Natsu frowned as he looked at his outfit. Instead of his usual attire, he now sports an open-collared, one-sleeved version of his original waistcoat, tucked in and zipped. The sleeve covers his left arm and left his mark and entire right arm exposed. He still wears Igneel's scarf and retains the same lower half of his clothing and wears his wristband on his right wrist.

"I don't know, but I look good." Sora said, looking down at his own outfit. It was similar to his new attire, but only in purple and white.

"Master said we should all be dressed in matching team colors." Lucy explained.

"Well, it does look great on you, Luce." Sora said, causing Lucy to blush at him.

"I think it's a cute idea. I like it." Erza said with a tiny blush on her face.

"Yeah, me too." Gray agreed.

"Try wearing some clothes before you say that!" Lucy chastised him since he wasn't wearing any clothes except his pants.

Sora held up petite-sized clothing meant for Wendy. "I guess this was meant for Wendy..." He commented as the rest of the group looked on with concern.

"I wonder if she's okay..." Lucy wondered as she remembered when they heard about Wendy's condition.

Flashback

The team rushed to the medical bay where the Sky Dragon slayer was kept.

"She was passed out by some bushes." Lucas explained as they came in.

"Carla too." Happy added.

"There's no signs of external wounds..." Lisanna had her hands clasped together, hoping that Wendy would wake up soon.

"Everyone..." Wendy spoke weakly, opening her eyes to see her teammates.

"Wendy are you okay? Sora asked in concern.

"What happened?" Natsu asked.

"I'm sorry...I can't remember very well.." She apologized before she flinched, her head was throbbing painfully.

"This must be Magic Power Deficiency." A new voice spoke as the door closed. "Losing such a huge amount of magical power at once causes the entire body's physical strength to suffer. If she rests for a while, she should recover."

"Porlyusica?!" Lucy exclaimed as she saw the Edolas version of the real Porlyusica. "What are you doing here?"

"Am I not allowed to come cheer you on?" Porlyusica quirked an eyebrow in their direction.

"I wonder what happened..." Gray said while Erza agreed, stating that losing a huge amount of magical power was definitely something worth concern over.

"I can't remember too clearly..." Wendy said as she leaned her head against her pillow. "But I seem to recall some black creature..."

"Don't push yourself!" Sora said as Wendy tried to move but was hit by another wave of pain.

"Everyone..." Wendy's entire body trembled as she turned to face them, tears welling up in her eyes. "I'm sorry...even after...everything with the training...I can't be a part of the team..." Sora, Natsu, Erza, Lucy and Gray looked at the floor with sadness themselves. "Pleas..."

"Hm?" He gazed at her when she called his name.

"Go win the tournament."

"Don't worry! Just leave it to us." Sora promised her. "Once you're better, you can come join us."

"Alright then, get out of here!" Porlyusica snapped and kicked the group out. "She needs rest!" She turned to see the girl hugging her Exceed like a stuffed teddy-bear. "Stop sulking. The Great Magic tournament festival lasts for 7 days. If you recover, you should be able to make it to the main event. As Fairy Tail's advising pharmacist...I'll get you fixed up, without a doubt."

"Thank you, Grandeena." She whispered as she hugged Carla close.

"Don't call me that." the cranky old woman replied but she was still smiling.

Flasback ends

"Is the culprit who hurt Wendy in this event somewhere?" Natsu growled as they stood as the entrance.

"It's still too early to tell..." Lucy said as she made sure she had her Celestial keys. "but I think that it's very likely."

"Was their aim to try and lower our battle power, or something else?" Gray pondered.

"Whoever it was, I hope they're ready for the ass-kicking of a lifetime!" Sora said as he punched his fist. "Let's do our best for Wendy's part, too!"

"Let's go." Erza spoke and together the team stepped through the giant gate that led them to the arena.

On the field

"The annual Magic Festival finally starts! The Grand Magic Tournament!" And the crowds went wild as they waited to see the 8 Teams that made through the preliminary round. "I'm Chapati Lola here. I'll be covering today's events." He introduced himself. Chapati was a middle aged short man, thin and pale-skinned. His smooth face was rather unusual, square and very big when compared to his small eyes, thin eyebrows, nose, mouth and chin, all close together and located in the middle of the face. For attire, he wears a simple dark suit with a light shirt under it, dark pants and a tie, where it reads 'Grand Magic Games' "We are honored to have Yazima, a former member of the Magic Council, as our commentator. Trilled to have you here, Yazima."

The old man gave a nodded of acknowledgement. "The pleasure's mine." replied Yazima, and Chapati continued the introductions of the special guests of the day. A certain incredibly beautiful blonde woman.

"For day one's guest, we're privileged to have Miss Fiore, Jenny Realight from Blue Pegasus!" Loud exclamations were heard and many cheers from fans could also be heard as she made her comment.

"We're gonna win this year~~!" she stated with full confident in her guild.

"The team members have finally entered." Chapati spoke after the flags of the guilds participating were being displayed out on the field. "First off is the preliminary round's 8th place. Will they be able to reclaim their past glory? Contrary to their name, they're the wild, rowdy Fairy Tail!"

"They're...booing at us?!" Gray gritted his teeth in worry as the audience started to throw food at them and booed at their appearance.

"Hey! Watch it!" Sora yelled.

"Even though they've gotten last place every single year, Fairy Tail managed to claw their way through the preliminaries. Though of course, they made it in 8th place." Chapati continued. "With the return of 'Team Tenrou' who have been causing trouble all over the place...can they possibly become the top of Fiore?!"

"I'm so glad to see you all...congratulations, Fairy Tail." Yazima gave them a thumbs up for encouragement.

"Don't fear Lucy," Erza said when she noticed that the mage was having some self-doubt. "look. All we need is the cheering of our friends."

"HOORAY! HOORAY! FAIRY TAIL!" One corner of the arena came the boisterous roar of the Fairy Tail guild who flew their banner high and proud.

"What's that...?" Natsu asked and every single mage of Fairy Tail, regardless if they were apart of the Tenrou team or not, realized that Mavis herself was a member of the audience. She sat swinging her legs up and down with happiness as she continued to cheer for her guild.

"Master Mavis!?"

"I came to cheer you on." She said, turning to see their shocked faces.

"You came to cheer us on?" Makarov repeated, "...but you..."

"It's fine, don't worry. Only people with the guild crest on them can see me."

"Err...that's not what I was worried about."

"Well...being stuck on Tenrou Island forever is really boring." Mavis commented.

"Having the first Master here looking over us is reassuring!" Natsu grinned.

"Even as a spirit." Gray replied dryly.

"No kidding." Sora chuckled.

"Next up...is 7th place in the preliminaries...the Hounds of Hell's army, Quatro Cerberus." Chapati announced as the members walked out to applause from the audience. "Coming in 6th place, we have the all female guild...the Dancers of the deep blue seas, Mermaid Heel."

"A guild like that existed?!" Happy wondered as some of the older men in the guild immediately fell in love with the women that stepped out into the spotlight.

"5th place is the Azure wings that sparkle in the darkness, Blue Pegasus." All of the members walked in striking a pose with sparkles all around them. "4th place...the goddess of love and war's sacred destroyers. Lamia Scale."

"Why were you 4th in the preliminaries?!" Their guild master, a really cranky old woman raised her fist in anger. "Are you idiots even trying?!"

"Sorry Grandma," One of the members, a petite girl with orange ribbons in her hair replied meekly. She was wearing a pale blue mini skirt and a pink sleeveless top with a dark blue center. She was also wearing short white gloves and long black stockings and white leg-warmers."It was because I'm so clumsy...Kyaaah!" True to her word, she fell face first on the ground, much to her teammates' embarrassment.

"Jeez...Chelia..."Lyon shook his head as he helped her up. Soon the teams were conversing amongst themselves oblivious to what was going on around them.

"Moving on, coming in 3rd place we have...now this is quite a surprise, in 3rd place we have a first time competing guild! The Midnight Raiders, Raven Tail!" The moment the five mysterious figures of the guild walked in, the crowd went silent, every single pair of eyes were on them.

"Raven Tail...." Sora narrowed his eyes at the group.

"A Dark Guild?!" Makarov roared and almost leaped into the pit himself if it weren't for the others holding him back. "The Great Magic tournament is okay with letting a guild like that participate!? Well?!" Even the audience members were murmuring amongst themselves.

"Well, according to our official information, Raven Tail existed over 7 years ago." Chapati explained. "But had only been approved as an official guild recently."

"If they're approved by the Magician's League, then that means they're not a Dark Guild, right?" Yazima asked.

"Fairy Tail..." The leader of Raven Tail spoke through his mask. "That little girl was our way of saying hello."

"Kkikiki!" A little black creature chuckled before morphing its face into Wendy. Then it proceeded to make fun of her by falling over again and again to simulate what had happened.

"You're the ones...who did that to Wendy...I won't forgive you..." Natsu replied as his teammates glared at the aggressors with determination to wipe the floor with them.

"Enjoy the festival." with that last little advice, the Raven Tail members walked off to another part to wait for the last remaining teams.

"There's two more teams left that made it through the preliminaries." Chapati said as the sound of footsteps reached their ears amidst the roar of the audiences. "Here we go! The team who came in 2nd in the preliminaries...well now, this is definitely unexpected! Could the flapping of their fallen wings really carry them all the way here?! It's the least expected...the unbelievable..."

"No way...!" Natsu gasped as the entire Fairy Tail, for the second time at least, gaped in surprise.

"What the hell...?" Sora gaped in shock.

"MIRA?!"

"GAJEEL?!"

"JUVIA?!"

"LAXUS!?"

"Another Team from Fairy Tail...?" the crowd whispered among themselves, confused at the fact that they have two teams.

"WHY IS MYSTOGAN HERE?"

Erza stared at him before she asked. "Are you saying... you are Jellal?" He put a finger to his lips in the 'Shh' fashion.

"IT'S REALLY YOU?! OR NOT?!" Gray and Natsu yelled in union at the confusing gestures.

"Well, it seems as though there's a lot of people still confused over the new revisions to the rules this year, don't you think, Yazima?" Chapati asked his cohort as he read the atmosphere of the audience.

"That's right...this year, each guild can have not just one, but two teams enter into the tournament." Yazima nodded in agreement.

"Kaaahahahaha! You see that?! That's how we do it in Fairy Tail!" The members roared loudly oblivious to those around them.

"But in this tournament, each team has the possibility of being matched up against every other team...will members of the same guild be capable of fighting themselves?" Chapati asked.

"They'll be fine." Yazima replied without hesitation.

"But..." Jenny looked at them with skepticism on her face, "that seems kind of unfair, doesn't it? Like...what if the competition has each time send out one member at a time for a battle royale...then Fairy Tail would be the only guild to have two members in the ring at once, right?"

"Of the over 100 guilds that entered, Fairy Tail is the only one that still has two teams in the running...this is their advantage they've earned, don't you think?" Chapati replied.

"I see...so that's why there were so many teams that entered..." Lucy said as Natsu strode forward and planted his foot down firmly.

"DON'T GIVE ME THAT CRAP?! I'M BEING SERIOUS HERE!" He bellowed to the Fairy Tail B team. His own teammates looked at him in shock at his outburst. Pointing at finger at every single on of them, he continued, "I don't care if we're part of the same guild or not, if we're fighting against each other, we fight with all our strength. Don't you dare hold back! Any team we get matched against is an opponent! I'm not losing to anyone, you bastards!"

"Exactly what I was hoping for, Mr. 8th place preliminary." Gajeel smirked, teasing Natsu about being the last placed team.

"I don't have a problem with it,"  Sora said with a challenging smirk. "This just makes things even more fun."

"Let's do our best then." Mira replied with a smile. Meanwhile, Erza walked over to 'Mystogan' to talk to him.

"Don't get so worked up, this is a 'festival,' isn't it?" Laxus grinned as he talked to Erza once she was done.

"Mmmhmm, but don't get so cocky. The other teams look strong as well." She stated casually.

"Now for the last team that made it through the preliminary round..." Chapati smiled as the audience started cheering even before the team made it out onto the field. "That's right! You all know who they are! The strongest! The invincible! The complete dominators! Sabertooth!" The entire station erupted into applause and cheers.

"Here they come..." Natsu frowned at how much admiration was going into the appearance of Sabertooth, it was like they were given a standing ovation.

"Yeah..." Sora said, narrowing his eyes.

"Looking forward to you two, Natsu and Sora." Sting teased as he wagged his finger.

"Don't wave that finger at me, you bastard." Gajeel growled.

"Gajeel." Rogue spoke as he looked at the Iron Dragon slayer.

'So those are the twin Dragons...Lexi thought as she glanced at them from the other Fairy Tail members. They still look like arrogant jerks...but I shouldn't underestimate them...I'll analyze their movements throughout this game as carefully as I can...'

"Over there, that's Fiore's strongest guild." Gray spoke in a hush whisper as all of the teams eyed one another.

"That makes up all the teams that will be participating. Here is your lineup!" Chapati spoke as a solid rock block flipped over to displayed different characters running along its face. "The Grand Magic games' program has been unveiled! As far as the matches go, this is how the points will be distributed amongst 1st through 8th place. As the rankings fall, the amount of points received decreases. For the following battle part, the organizers will pair up cards selected from the fans' votes."

"What the...? They're going to match us up on their own? So if you have bad luck, you could use up all your magic power in the contest part and end up being selected to battle?" The Fairy Tail A team was confused about the rules.

"The battle part's rules are simple. Each team will battle, like so." A little display popped showing a demonstration. "The winning team will receive 10 points. The losing team will receive none. If it's a draw, each team will receive 5 points. Without further ado, I bring you the Grand Magic games' opening game! Let's being 'Hidden'! Each team will have one participant. After each team submits their player, I'll explain the rules." As the teams began to decide which member to go, the audience roared with approval when Rufus from Sabertooth joined in.

"Why the hell is everyone cheering like crazy over that jerk?!" Natsu growled with anger.

"We should grab this from the very start. I'll go." Lyon spoke after his team were squabbling over who goes, prompting Gray to step up to the plate. Unfortunately that led to Juvia immediately nominating herself for this game just for the sake of her beloved 'Gray-sama'.

"Hey! If you lose on purpose, I'm gonna kick your ass!" Gajeel snarled a warning as she pranced over to claim her spot. Now all of the pieces have been chosen and it was time to start the games.

There you have it! The Grand Magic Games have finally started and I hope you'll enjoy what's coming up in the following chapters! Most of the events will go as canon, others won't.
