-----------------------
Not long after their departure, the magic tree set the Fairy Tail mages down on the border of the Sun Village. They got off their transport and had themselves a look around.
"Is it here?" Gray asked.
"It didn't really take much effort." Erza smiled.
"So this is the outskirts of the Sun Village, huh?" inquired Lucy.
Carla walked to the edge of a border between normal rocks and those frozen over by ice. She tapped it with her foot, "It's solid, all right."
"The village must be just ahead." Kiki said.
"Let's check it out," Lucas took the lead.
"Aye!" Happy exclaimed along with him.
They trekked through the woods for a short time before arriving in what appeared to be a small city. The buildings were positively gigantic- several stories tall and completely iced over. Whatever had happened here was huge, no pun intended.
"Whoa...!" Sora breathed out.
Gray arched an eyebrow at the scenery, "No doubt, it's been completely frozen. Someone with some serious magic power must've been responsible. Ur's caliber, maybe..."
Erza was looking around in confusion, "I thought Warrod said there were villagers here, but I don't see a person anywhere."
Natsu paused by a rather unusual construct and lifted the path of his eyes. After bending his head back as far as it could go, he blinked to process the sight and his jaw fell open. Happy followed his gaze, and together, they freaked out.
"HUUUUUGE!"
The others glanced back at him in alarm and began to realize that there were in fact villagers there- but the villagers were each about fifty feet tall and positively gigantic in size.
"This was a village of giants?!" Sora exclaimed in shock.
"Are you serious!?" Lucas agreed.
Wendy suddenly felt extremely tiny, "No way..."
Gray bristled at the sight of a giant with its mouth wide open, a similar image of his vanquished enemy going through his mind. He shivered involuntarily.
"Gray?" Lucy questioned his shaking with concern.
"It's nothing..." he muttered, "It just..reminds me of..."
"Deliora, right?" Lucas finished. The red exceed's fur was fluffed up along with Happy's. Carla hadn't lost her composure as much, but she did look nervous.
Lexi shook her head in amazement, "Who knew giant humans like this existed!"
"They even had dogs!" Wendy exclaimed in delight, spying a massive, wolf-like beast frozen with a toy in its mouth.
Kiki landed on her shoulder from behind and sweat-dropped, "Are you sure that's a dog...?"
Natsu grinned and cracked his knuckles, "Well, whatever they are, we better get em' outta there!"
He set his hands to the ankle of the nearest giant and set himself ablaze, "I'll melt them out with my flames!"
Sora got beside him and activated his solar light, setting his body alight, "Let's do it!"
"RRRRROOOOOOAAAAAAAA!"
They ignited themselves with all the power they could muster, but no matter how fierce or hot their flames and solar light was, the ice simply would not melt. Eventually, the duo gave up and collapsed, gasping in exertion.
"Shit, that's some serious ice!" Natsu muttered.
"You're not kidding..." grunted Sora, "Did we even do anything?"
Gray set his palm against he spot they'd just tried to ignite, noting that it was already cold again, "Doesn't seem like it. I mean, Warrod did say this wouldn't be as simple as just melting it, right?"
He frowned and focused his senses more. There was a strange magical pulse about the ice he had never felt before. It was nothing like his own magic, and yet, there was something oddly familiar about it.
"What's up with this ice? I've never felt anything like this before..." Gray muttered, then activated his magic. He willed it to melt, but despite his efforts, the ice remained unchanged.
"You can't melt it, either?" Wendy asked.
Lucy scratched the back of her head, "I guess the usual methods of melting ice won't work here."
"Maybe, but..." Gray brushed his thumb over the ice and narrowed his eyes, "There's something familiar about it...This ice reminds me of someone else's magic..."
"Oh my, so we aren't the first ones here?"
The mages heard the voice and spun around, spotting company in the form of three men atop one of the frozen buildings.
One of them, the first one, had a sniper rifle at his hip, "Well, this bites."
"Why? It's just a couple of super kids and cats," reasoned the second, a man with spiky hair and a sword on his back.
"Dun, dun," rumbled the third, a burly individual with a large hammer-like weapon.
"Who are you?" Erza asked.
"My name is Drake. We're a guild of treasure hunters." Drake spoke with a sneer. He was a tall, long-faced young man with shoulder-length silver hair.
"Sylph Labyrinth." The second member added. He was a well-built man of average height. His dark hair was styled into for tall spikes that jut straight upwards from his head. He had a rather unruly appearance. "My names Hiroshi and this is Lala."
"Duun." The third one said. Lala is a sturdy man of average height distinguished by his large head, disproportionate to his body.
"A guild of treasure hunters?" Wendy tilted her head in confusion.
"Does it mean their specialty is finding treasures?" Lucy added.
"I'm sorry, but the treasure sleeping here is ours. Don't get in our way."
"Who cares about treasure...we aren't treasure hunters." Sora frowned, cracking his knuckles. "However if you guys plan on getting in our way then we won't show you any mercy."
"I could say the exact same thing." Drake retorted with a huff. "The treasure we're after is the Eternal flame itself. It's a legendary flame that's been burning for centuries. To us it's an S-class super treasure."
"We were never able to get close to it because of the giants protecting it." Hiroshi said.
"But now for some reason they're all duuun!" Lala finished up. "Frozen."
"In other words, it's the perfect chance to get the flame." Drake told them.
"But that flame is like the protecting God of this village, it's very important to them." Wendy argued.
"If you take it away you'll be like thieves." Lucy said and the three men looked at one another in silent debate.
"So you're saying treasure hunters shouldn't take a treasure!?"
"We can't let someone else get it before us!"
"Duun Duun!"
"Sorry to tell you, but apparently the flame is frozen too." Gray spoke calmly as the hunters continued to bark.
"Don't underestimate our super treasure hunting skills." Hiroshi smirked as he held up a small bottle which held only a tiny amount of liquid. "With this super treasure, 'Moon Drip', we can super melt the ice."
"Moon Drip..." Happy spoke.
"It's the magic Lyon and the others were using on Galuna Island." Lucy said.
"What are you guys talking about." Lexi looked at them confusion.
"Oh it's nothing too important." Lucy told her. "It's just that we encountered something like this before you joined the guild."
"But I didn't know it had a liquid form..." Erza muttered.
"HOLD THE PHONE!" Natsu yelled as an epiphany suddenly struck him, "If we use that, then we can melt the villagers out, right?!"
A long silence passed between them. The Fairy Tail mages became positively stunned that Natsu had just come up with a brilliant idea.
"He's right!" Gray shouted, completely willing to admit it this time.
Sora bared his fangs, "Get them! Don't let those bastards out of your sight!"
Without further ado, the mages chased after the treasure hunters with gusto.
------------------------
Over the village, unbeknownst to the mages and treasure hunters, a Cyclops Bird was flying around with two people on its back. The first was a man with his hair tied in a bun and a mask over his mouth with a tooth-like pattern. The second was a woman in a black dress. Both possessed a guild mark belonging to a Dark Guild- Succubus Eye.
"Treasure hunters and now mages..." the man grumbled, "This has become a troublesome job."
"The thieves are of no concern," the woman assured him, "In this situation, the bigger problem is those mages. They're from Fairy Tail...by far not ordinary wizards."
He eyed the mages running below, "Oh? You know that guild?"
"You must've been living under a rock if you haven't heard of Fairy Tail," she scoffed, "But I didn't expect my chance for revenge to come quite this swiftly...The underworld is treating me fairly, I see."
The man shrugged disconcertedly, "I could care less about legal guilds and the like, but this is our job. Let's get it done, newbie."
"Newbie?" she offered a smirk, "You will address me as, 'Milady', or experience a taste of Minerva Orlando's grand strength."
---------------------------
"Wait up!" Natsu snarled after the treasure hunters.
"Give us that Moon Drip, or else!" Sora roared.
The sniper yelled back as he ran away, "You must be joking! Do you have any idea how difficult it was to find some of that stuff?!"
Lucy and Wendy were running in the back with the exceeds. The blonde glanced to her shorter companion.
"Uh? Where did Erza go?" Lucy asked.
"She stayed in the village to look for other clues." Wendy replied. "Lexi and Kiki are there as well to keep her company."
"I hope she doesn't destroy any of the giants." Happy stated as he envisioned Erza attacking one of the giants with her sword and destroying one of the legs.
"I do hope so." Carla begged to differ.
"Roger that..." Lucas muttered.
"Stop you thieves!" Natsu continued yelling.
"This is annoying, let's just do it." Drake growled as he glanced at his companions.
"Yeah, let's super do it." Hiroshi replied.
"Let's duun do it." Lala said and they all nodded in agreement. Screeching to a halt, two of them got into formation and awaited the Fairy Tail mages while the third one continued running.
"We can't really let some wizards underestimate us!" Hiroshi growled as he reached for his sword strapped to his back.
"We'll eliminate the obstacles." Lala agreed as he held out his weapon, a hammer "Treasure hunting is a dangerous job, duun."
Natsu grinned fiercely, "I'd say both our jobs are pretty dangerous, but you've got no idea, punks. Get ready to eat it! I'm all fired up!"
"Dun!" the big man brought down his hammer and crushed the ground, missing Natsu by mere inches. The Salamander staggered back in surprise.
"That's a sketchy lookin' weapon!" Sora growled.
"The might of Hammer Rara comes down like dun!" muttered the enemy.
"And mine comes down like this!" the Solar Dragon lashed out, "Solar Dragon's Blazing Hammer!"
As he struck, Rara's hand-hammer opened up and caught the blow, then grabbed ahold of Sora and trapped him. With a powerful swing, he then hurled the Dragon Slayer into a boulder nearby with a crash.
"Sora!" Lucy shouted in alarm.
"Leave this to me..." Gray set a fist against his open palm, "Ice Make: Freeze Lancer!"
Arrows of ice went flying at the enemies, but the swordsman suddenly made his move.
"Super Slice!" he shouted, cutting through the ice with ease, "Don't underestimate Super Sword Hiroshi and my Chain Blade!"
He grabbed a lever on the hilt of his blade and the sword suddenly extended with incredible speed.
"Super Stab!" Hiroshi yelled.
Gray dodged the attack, but the force of it was carried straight through a frozen tree behind the other mages. The extent of the damage was surprising.
Natsu's ears suddenly picked up an odd sound, so he lunged at the girls and shoved them to the ground, "Look out!"
Bullets suddenly littered the ground, impacting the spots where they'd just been standing.
"A gun?!" Lucy gasped.
Carla, Happy, and Lucas backed up against each other. The white exceed scanned the surroundings nervously, "It's gotta be that guy with the sniper rifle from earlier..."
"Nicely dodged. But I'll hit your head next."
Wendy looked around in confusion, "His voice is being scattered, but I can pinpoint his location!"
"My Nanayon Rifle is out for blood..." Drake snickered.
Natsu sniffed the air, "The smell of gunpowder..."
Wendy pointed at a high rise a good distance away, "Over there!"
"Leave it to me!" Lucy proclaimed, "Open! Gate of the Archer: Sagittarius!"
The horseman appeared and drew back his bow, "You can leave the sniper in my capable hands!"
He let his arrow fly just as Drake shot. The two projectiles collided and cancelled each other out.
Sagittarius was shocked, "He shot my arrow?!"
"Don't look down on a genius sniper like yours truly!" Drake cackled.
Sora pulled himself out of the rubble and glared at the treasure hunters, "These guys ain't half bad..."
---------------------------
Back in the village...
"I wonder why...everyone is looking in the same direction and holding weapons." Erza mused as she looked at the giant warriors.
"You look awfully deep in thought." Lexi said as she watched the scarlet-haired knight thoughtfully. "Though I guess we must be on the same track. What happened to this village before it was frozen?"
"Also, I highly doubt that it's possible to melt this whole ice with so little Moon Drip." Kiki said as she fluttered around a giant's face. "If I had to guess I'd say it'll only melt one small space. The others are probably wasting their time with those hunters."
"Wait..." Erza said before turning her face to look at one of the giants. "Giants...Weapons...Ice...were they fighting against something? Or protecting something? Protecting...what? The village...something important..." Her eyes lit up in surprise as she remembered the most important info. "The Eternal Flame."
"You figured something out?" Lexi asked, noticing the change in Erza's behavior.
'Even the Eternal Flame that protected the village was frozen.' "If they consider the flame the guardian deity of the village...they were protecting it from external enemies."
"Meaning?" Kiki looked at her in question as she settled down on Lexi's head.
"In other words...the flame must be in the opposite direction...of where the giants are looking." She started to walk off, prompting the dragon slayer to hurry after her. After charging through the forest, they found two more giants and a giant mountain behind them.
"You think it's up there? The flame?" Lexi asked her.
"Mmmhmm." Erza nodded her head with confidence. "It must be on the top." They hiked up the tall mountain with hopes but there was nothing there, ice as far as the eye could see.
"Well, that's disappointing." Lexi commented.
"I thought if I could find the flame...we could bring back the village to how it was..." Erza said with a huff as she turned on her heels, heading back. "But I guess the if we found it, it's supposed to be frozen as well."
"We probably wouldn't be able to see it amongst these ice sculptures." Kiki shook her head.
"It can't be so easy to find the village's treasure..."
"Umm...Erza? Why does your voice sound so young?" Lexi asked, prompting her to stop walking.
"Wha...What is this?" Erza spoke when she spotted her reflection on one of the ice. The clanking of armor fell to the ground but she was too preoccupied with her appearance to notice. "I became a kid..." She ran her hands all over her face to make sure it was real, touched her chest to realize that she became flat-chested and she even lifted up the bottom of her dress to look underneath.
"You aren't the only one..." Erza turned around to see Lexi fumbling with her shorts, her shirt was about to fall off and the goggles on her head was lopsided. "Why are my shorts not holding up my ass?"
"What's happening?!" The scarlet-haired knight worried. "Do I have an armor that fits this size...? Ah...but more importantly..." She took one step forward, slipped and started tumbling down the mountain's face before landing on the ground with a grunt.
"Erza!" Lexi yelled as she saw her comrade disappear and she tried to follow but tripped on her own clothing. "God damn these shorts!"
"Ughhh...my head..." Erza groaned as she laid on the ground for a little bit before sitting back up. "I can't move as I want...my physical size is different from what my mind knows." She placed her finger underneath her chin in thought. "I wonder how this happened...I must find a way to get back to normal." Suddenly events started flooding into her mind, Wendy becoming her older sister, Natsu and Gray challenging her to fights...even Jellal not loving her. "I absolutely must go back to normal!"
------------------------
Back at the battle with the other mages and treasure hunters, Natsu and Sora confronted Lala and Hiroshi with bared fangs.
"They're not bad, considering they don't even use magic," Natsu admitted reluctantly.
Hiroshi sneered, "Don't lump us super treasure hunters from Sylph Labyrinth in with amateur treasure hunters! We won the Great Hidden Treasure Hunt of Fiore that all treasure hunting guilds competed in!"
"Never heard of it," Sora deadpanned.
"Now that you mention it though, we ain't your average mages, either," Gray smirked, "See?"
In his hand was the bottle of Moon Drip.
Hiroshi and Rara freaked out, "THE MOON DRIP?!"
"Ice Make: Thieving Hand," Gray snickered proudly.
"He's a super thief!" Hiroshi screeched, "Drake, fire!"
Lucy spun to her spirit, "Sagitarrius, cover him!"
This time, the Celestial Spirit knocked the sniper's bullet out of the air with his arrow.
Drake was stunned, "What?!"
"Unfortunately for you, I am a skilled archer," Sagittarius said determinedly.
"You'd better super give it back!" Hiroshi yelled, slashing at Gray with his chain blade.
The Ice Mage dodged easily, "Sorry, but I'm using this to help the giants! Natsu!"
He threw the vial, which Natsu caught easily. Rara slammed his hammer down and nearly hit the Salamander, but he cartwheeled away and tossed it again, "Lucy!"
"I got it!" Lucy exclaimed as she caught the vial.
Hiroshi pulled out all the stops, "Chain Blade: Gunner Mode!"
His weapon suddenly started stabbing and retracting at incredible speeds, giving the appearance of a rapid-fire weapon. Lucy leaped aside and hurled the Moon Drip vial to the next in line, "Sora!"
"It's mine!" Sora shouted, grabbing the Moon Drip and flipping midair to dodge Hiroshi's string of attacks.
"Lucas!" he commanded, passing it to his partner.
The orange exceed caught it and passed it again, "Carla!"
By now, Hiroshi was shooting everywhere in the air, making the white exceed indignant as she caught the vial, "My, my, how dangerous! Happy!"
"Aye!"
She threw the vial in Happy's direction, but the Moon Drip sailed clean over the blue exceed's head and shattered onto the frozen ground.
The jaws of every person watching hit the floor in horrified disbelief.
"IT BROKE!"
"The super hell's wrong with you?! You're super evil!" Hiroshi shrieked.
"You broke something you stole- duuun!" Rara cried in sadness.
Happy's eyes started welling with tears, "I'm sorry..."
"Hold on," Lucy interrupted and pointed at the vial's remains, "Look at that."
Where the Moon Drip had splashed out, only a tiny portion of ice had melted away.
Lucy frowned, "That was all it could melt."
Gray sighed, "So that tiny amount was useless to us after all..."
"NO WAY!" Hiroshi fell to his knees in despair, "Our plan was super useless!"
Natsu frowned at the destroyed vial and approached Happy.
The blue exceed turned around and bent over, "Sorry I messed up, Natsu...If you're going to punish me, I get it..."
To his surprise though, Natsu got on his hands and feet and set his ear against the ground. He seemed to be very focused.
Sora arched an eyebrow, "What's up?"
"I hear something..." he muttered, "Someone's voice..."
"What...?" Lucy asked.
"A voice?" Wendy repeated.
Natsu furrowed his brow in concentration, "I think it's emanating out through the earth. It seems like it's calling out to us."
Happy and Lucas set their ears to the ground, but shook their heads. The blue exceed stood back up, "I don't hear anything."
"Me either." Lucas agreed.
Sora tried next and frowned, "I hear it, but...man, that's faint."
Natsu scratched his chin and glanced around. Once his twin stood back up, he pointed in the direction of the village and took off, "That way!"
Sora chased after him immediately, leaving the rest of the group behind. Before anyone knew what had happened, the duo had run off.
"I've heard that voice somewhere before..." Natsu muttered.
"It definitely sounded familiar, I'll admit that," Sora agreed.
"Guys, wait up!" Lucy shouted.
Gray clenched his teeth, "Whatever, just chase after them!"
Carla floated by Wendy, "Did you hear anything?"
"Not yet, but if they both heard a voice, there must be something to it!" Wendy exclaimed.
So the Fairy Tail mages ran after the two Dragon Slayers, leaving the treasure hunters behind, flabbergasted and uncertain what to do next.
--------------------
Natsu and Sora made it to the core of the village by a long shot, still debating with each other.
"Whose voice was it..." pondered the Salamanader
"Argh! I can't remember!" the Solar Dragon snapped. "It's right on the tip of my tongue..."
As they came into the center of the village, both Dragon Slayers spied a man with a mask over his face. They immediately came to a stop.
Sora bared his fangs, "Friends of the treasure hunters, eh?"
"Guess so." Natsu said.
"I am no thief," the man rumbled as he brought his arms up and radiated magical energy, "Now..return to your days of distant memory."
Natsu and Sora felt an unusual pulse of magic go throughout their bodies, then they suddenly began to shrink. They continued getting smaller until their clothes were too baggy to keep up normally, so they had to use their hands. Within moments, the two were just children again.
"Wh-what?!"
"I became tiny!"
The man glared at them darkly, "Things are more fun when you're a kid..."
--------------------
Back to the mountain...
"Gah!" Erza held up a sword she conjured up with her magic, sweat rolling down her face. "I can use magic...but..." She frowned. "It takes longer to change armor...and magic is consumed faster. My physical abilities are much lower. And my feet feel cold."
"Titania lost her face." A voice spoke from behind and she recognized the woman instantly when she turned to face her.
"Minerva!? Why are you here?"
"Changed guilds. This is basically my first mission..." The ex-Sabertooth woman replied, hands on her hips. "I didn't expect to meet you."
"That symbol..." Erza's eyes narrowed in on the mark on the woman's stomach. "Succumbus' Eye. A dark guild!?"
"I only adhere to the strongest guild." Minerva told her, a smirk on her face. "It isn't important whether it's in the open or in the Underworld, I like to look at my surroundings from a powerful position."
"And that would be Succubus' Eye?" Erza looked at her skeptically.
"This guild is just a foothold. I will go higher."
"Did you lose your pride as a wizard, Minerva?"
"Ha! Stop talking and let's resume our fight." Minerva's eye gleamed, knowing that she could beat child Erza without any difficulties. "Although I really doubt you can do anything with that body."
"Did you do this...?" Erza asked, gripping the sword tightly.
"No...this is my partner's magic." Minerva said. "There are many interesting types of magic in the Underworld."
"So you're not fighting directly anymore?"
"The Underworld has its ways of fighting. My vision has broadened too." The now Succumbus' Eye member held her arms out with excitement. "Prepare yourself. This isn't a simple festival. It's a fight to the death."
"HEYY!" ERZAA!" They looked up as Lexi clambered down the mountain's face in nothing but a bra and panties. "Oh? It's you!" The dragon slayer narrowed her eyes at Minerva as she stood by Erza's side.
"Another brat." Minerva retorted, inwardly chuckling at her opponents' childish appearances. "This fight will be nothing but a walk in the park."
"What happened to your clothes?" Erza asked her.
"Oh those things? Kiki's carrying them." Lexi replied as the Exceed fluttered down, looking unamused from underneath the dragon slayer's clothes. "It's quite hard to move in them with this body anyway." Even though her body went back to a kid's, she still had magic to help her.
"Quit talking. Your bratty voice is really annoying." Minerva commented, getting their attention. "Let's fight, I can take you two on all by myself."
