Grand Magic Games Arena...
"It's just as I calculated." Mavis grinned cheerfully as the Fairy Tail guild roared and cried with happiness when they realized that they had won the entire competition. "Well done everyone."
"These cheers! These remarkable cheers! Fairy Tail is reborn as the strongest guild in Fiore!" Chapati smiled broadly as the audience members continued to chant the winning guild's name while banging their fists against their seats.
"How can you beat them?" Kagura smiled as she leaned against one of her comrades for support, a hand over her wound. "They're amazing."
"Uff, we sure got beaten hard." Lyon sighed with defeat as he leaned his back against a pillar. "It's your victory, Gray."
"Sorry, Lyon." Chelia apologized as she knelt beside him. "It's my fault we didn't win."
"Don't be so hard on yourself." He smiled back at her encouraging. "We did our best, that's all that matters."
"Splendid." Jura stated from where he laid on the ground, looking up at the sky with a smile on his face. "Truly splendid."
"Well...we can celebrate the comeback of the Tenrou Team."
"This was a big present."
"Congratulations!" The males of Blue Pegasus commented while Jenny just sported a smile on her face.
"Fairy Tail is amazing!" Frosch said as he and Rogue looked at the screen, watching the Fairy Team smile at one another.
"Yeah. It's the first time I feel so refreshed after losing." The shadow dragon slayer commented as he knelt next to the Exceed, a small smile on his face. "Frosch, I want...to become a man that cares for his friends."
"Mmm! Me too!" Frosch nodded his head as he wrapped his paws around Rogue in a hug. "Frosch agrees!"
"It's finally over." Gajeel commented, releasing a sigh of relief. "God I need a long nap after all this."
"At least the tournament is." Juvia smiled.
"Did anyone see the signal?" Erza asked, looking at her wounded teammates with a concerned look.
"No." Laxus replied, his brows furrowing as he thought about it. "That's weird..."
"I haven't either." Gray stated, clearly looking worried.
"Uhm..." Sting spoke up after wiping the tears from his eyes.
"Your face is irritating!" The iron dragon slayer snapped, growling at him.
"Hey, Gajeel! Watch yourself." Juvia said.
"No...I mean, why didn't Sora and Natsu participate?" The Fairy Tail mages all looked elsewhere, wondering on how to explain the circumstances that prompted the dragon slayers to rush off on a rescue mission. Their worst fear was that the task could have ended up as a failure. "What's wrong..? Why don't you guys say something?"
"Did something happen to them?" Lecter asked as he looked at their forlorn expressions. "Is this something you guys can't tell us?"
'Are you safe?' Gray thought as he looked towards the castle, his eyes narrowed. 'Guys...'

Outside the city...
"Jellal?" Ultear asked when the man suddenly looked up in shock. He was currently sitting on a nearby rock lost in thought when something popped into his head.
"How could I fail to notice something so simple...?" He said in bewilderment, looking at the two girls that stood before him.
"Is something wrong?" Meredy asked him.
"Future Lucy said she came on the 4th of July. However, it was midnight of the 3rd." The blue-haired man explained to them. "Every year we've felt a mysterious magic, yet she arrived recently? No...there's no mistaking it, the magic we've been sensing for 7 years is the Eclipse. Just this year...it was a human. Because she used Eclipse, which is magic from the book of Zeref, to come from the future, she still had some magic similar to Zeref's on her. Maybe...if we want to believe that everything she said is true...Lucy must have arrived on the night of the 3rd...In that case...the Lucy we saw on the 3rd in the evening is..."

"PRINCESS!"
"Arcadois!" Hisui smiled when she saw the knight appear. "Are you safe!?"
"Colonel...regarding Hell Palace...well..." Darton fumbled over his words as Arcadois strode towards them with a stoic expression. "I was prejudiced and..."
"Let's forget about that." The knight waved his hand dismissively in the air, not bothering to worry about the situation all together. "Do the ones gather here already know about Eclipse 2?"
"Yes...we're spreading the information among all of the soldiers. Hopefully the Order of the Hungry Wolves will know soon as well." The minister of defense replied.
"What the person who came from the future said is true." Hisui said calmly as she nibbled on her nail for a minute. "The Eclipse Project is moving onto Project 2 as scheduled."
"Are you going to abandon the first project of destroying Lord Zeref?" Arcadios asked her out of curiosity.
"No, but first we should deal with the menace before us." The knight didn't say anything for a minute as he processed what the princess just said. Slowly he started to pull out his sword from its sheath that was attached to his belt buckle.
"A knight would never doubt the words of his monarch." He said after Darton almost yelled at him to stop, fearing that the knight was bent on killing the princess. "When your words prove to be true." He handed her his sword and pointed it to himself. "I'll forfeit my life. I have dishonored you by doubting your words, and I'm ready to pay...with my life."
"You...! Are you crazy?!" The minister of defensive snapped out of horror. "Think about what you're doing!"
"Princess...tell me the truth." Arcadios prompted, ignoring the old man as he focused on the green-haired woman before him.
"Arcadios...what are you...?" Hisui asked in a small voice, her hands trembling as she held his sword.
"I met the person from the future you talked about." He explained to her. "She didn't know about Eclipse 2. She cried because she knew what's going to happen...but didn't know how to deal with it."
"No...that person clearly told me what to do." Hisui replied in confusion.
"So you're saying that she would lie!?" Arcadios roared at her. "It didn't look to me like a person that would try to deceive her comrades for her own sake!"
"What do you mean? I don't understand." Hisui said as she looked at him. "The person that spoke to me...was a man."
--------------------------
"The shadow I saw the evening of the 3rd wasn't Lucy!" Jellal stated with worry as he told his comrades what he discovered. "There's another person! A person from the future!"
"Another one...?" Meredy asked as the three of them raced towards the town at breakneck speed. "What do you mean?!"
"Another person wrapped in a magic similar to Zeref's after using Eclipse..." Jellal explained as he continued running down the cobblestone street. "Lucy came here to save the future...but why did the other one come!?"

Underground...
"The kingdom's soldiers are all..inside the shadow." Kiki said as the group looked at the dark swirling matter in apprehension.
"Someone's there!" Loki exclaimed when he spotted a figure among the sea of black.
"I can't tell who it is!" Lexi said.
"Be careful!" Lucy told them, her eyes focused on the shadow. "I have a bad feeling about this."
"Who are you?" Sora asked in warning once the mysterious figure stepped forward into the light. The person that stepped out was a man whose hair was tied in a high ponytail, reaching midway down his back. Additionally, rather than being completely black, his hair was black on the right while being much lighter on the left. Where his right eye should have been was a long, jagged scar that extended over the bridge of his nose; around his left eye was a sharp curved tattoo.
His eye is relatively unchanged since it was dark around the outside with a snake-like pupil on the inside. He wore a long, light, high-collared version of a ferrailolo. However, the part of the outfit that draped over his shoulders was very dark and the edges were adorned with a tiger-print pattern. There was a strap that was fastened to his body by means of a button on either side of his chest. Underneath the garment he donned a light-colored, long sleeved shirt where the cuffs were rolled up. Over the shirt he had a dark, Y-shaped vest that was decorated by three circles. He had the vest tucked into his belt. For his bottoms, he sported a pair of light trousers under the loose pieces of cloth and strapped boots that housed his feet.
"Are the shadows reaching out...to the past or the future?" The man spoke as he stood before them, a small smirk on his face. "Or to people's hearts...?"
"What...are you saying?" The solar dragon slayer questioned. "I'll ask you again, who are you?"
"It seems we meet again, Sora Lionheart, Natsu Dragneel. I came from the future." The man said, looking at them with a passive gaze. "I'm Rogue."
"No way. How you can be Rouge?" Natsu said. in surprise.
"Rogue...from Sabertooth?" Wendy wondered as she stared at him.
"Why did you come to the future just like Lucy?" Lucas asked.
"So, I'm not the only one..." Future Lucy muttered.
"Apart from that you swept away the soldiers...to help us?" Loki looked at the man in a confused manner.
"You are definitely different from the Rogue in this time." Natsu commented as she wrinkled her nose. "Different scent too but...I can totally see Rogue in you."
"Why did you come here?" Carla questioned as she pointed a paw at him. "No funny business you hear me."
"Why did I come here into the past?" He replied sweetly, giving the group a small smirk. "To open...the door."
"Eclipse!?" Lucy exclaimed, her eyes widened in realization.
"There are two ways to use Eclipse." Future Rogue explained. "One is to move across time. The other way is to use it as a weapon, Eclipse Cannon. The only way to defeat 10,000 dragons."
'It can defeat 10,000 dragons!?' Future Lucy gasped, unable to believe what the man was saying. 'Is...Is that really true?'
"Oh, now I get it." Natsu said with a grin. "So you're our ally?"
"Great! We can defeat the dragons!" Happy cheered.
"We can change the future with that cannon then!" Wendy smiled as everyone else looked at each other with smiles of their own. Sora didn't necessarily share their happiness but he carefully eyed Future Rogue, analyzing him.
"No...it's not that simple." Future Rogue spoke, getting a lot of questioning looks from the group. "I came from 7 years later. 7 years from now, the world will be ruled by dragons. Only 10% of humanity has survived. And Eclipse isn't as powerful as today. If we don't stop the dragons now...the world will end."
"We could try to open the door and blast them away when they come out." Lexi mused to herself, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Sounds simple enough." Natsu commented.
"However 7 years ago...that is 'now'..." Future Rogue frowned as he gazed at everyone. "...someone got in the way of opening the door. Because of that, it couldn't be opened. And we couldn't point the Eclipse Cannon at the dragons. That person led the world to destruction. I came here...to kill him."
"How scary..." Carla said with a shudder.
"Wouldn't the person cooperate if we explain the situation?" Lucas asked.
"There's no need to kill someone if they just listen to us." Lily added, agreeing with Lucas' thinking. "I'm sure it'll all work out in the end."
"Sometimes, it's impossible to stop actions with just words. Even if we can convince them now...they will definitely close the door." Future Rogue said as he closed his single eye. "We can't escape fate. Some people live and some will die. The one who closes the door will close it as long as they live."
"I don't really get it." Natsu said.
"Who is the person responsible then?" Sora asked him. "Do you know him or her?"
"You." The man's eye snapped back open, lit with an angry fire. "Lucy Heartfilia!"
"Eh?" The celestial mage said as Future Rogue sent an unsuspected attack her way, barely giving her any time to grasp the situation. "Eh?!"
"LUCE!" Sora shouted in horror, knowing that he was already too late to stop the attack.
"Get out of the way! Lucy!" Natsu shouted.
"Gahahah!" Future Lucy grunted as the attack struck her soundly in the chest, lodging deep enough to penetrate her heart. Because she acted swiftly before the others, she managed to jump in front of her past self and took the hit.
The Fairy Tail team was horrified.
"H-Hey! You...!" Lucy gasped as her future self fell to the ground with a thud. "Hey!"
"Lucy!" Lucas shouted as he ran over to her.
"There were two Lucys!?" Future Rogue mumbled, his eye widened in surprise and he lowered his arm in shock. "What's going on?!"
"Luce! Are you okay!?" Sora said as he held his girlfriend's future self in his arms.
"Just hang on!" Lucy cried as she went by his side.
"I..neve...r..." Future Lucy rasped out as she looked up at her past self. "...closed...the do...or..."
"I know!" Lucy told her. "I would never do that! Why did you save me!?"
"Because you...'re...my pas...t self..." Future Lucy chuckled as if it was a silly question. "If you die...I will...die too...either way, I would've ceased to exist..." She coughed, blood dripping from her mouth. "It's funny....I always wondered what it would've been like to die in your arms, Sora....It's really nice."
"Don't talk like that! Save your breath!" Sora told her.
"He's right! Please! Don't die!" Lucy cried out.
"Can we help her?" Lily asked.
"Maybe we could use healing magic..." Kiki began to say.
Carla hung her head in sadness and Wendy shook with tears. "I'm afraid that wound is too severe...there's nothing we can do."
"Damn it!" Sora yelled as he punched the ground as tears begin to fill his eyes. "This wasn't supposed to happen! I promised your mom that I wouldn't let you get hurt!"
"It's...okay...I thought...I'd never...see you or the others again..." Future Lucy said quietly as she placed her hand on his cheek.. "But I did...one last time..." Tears started to pool in her eyes as she gazed at her past self and boyfriend. "That...makes me...happy..."
"Don't die...Lucy..." Lucas said tearfully, placing his paws on the girl's arm.
"I'm not...from this time...well..." Future Lucy laughed softly. "from this...world...the Lucy from this world...will live on...with her friends..." She turned to the Exceed and smiled softly. "Don't be sad..."
"It doesn't matter what world you're from...or who you are, everyone deserves to live." Lucas told her gently. "When I joined Fairy Tail, everyone was happy and I made a lot of friends too. You are our friend and the girl Sora fell in love with, so of course I'll be sad! " He wrapped his paws around Future Lucy, crying softly against her chest. The girl smiled sadly as she stroked the soft fur with her fingers.
"Lucas..." Happy muttered with tears.
"Show me...your guild mark and ring..." She said as she finished petting the upset Exceed and Lucy complied, holding out her right hand. The dying mage gazed at the pink emblem etched on the skin before looking over the ring and smiled as she rolled her hand over it.
"Where's yours? What happened?" Lucy murmured as Future Lucy wrapped her past self's hand with her own fingers.
Sora's bangs shadowed his face as he remembered when Lucy first go her guild mark. 'Hey Sora! Look! I got my Fairy Tail mark!'
"I wanted to...have more adventures...with you..Sora...please...protect the...future..." Smiling one last time, Future Lucy fell silent and her hand fell to the ground, limp.
"No...no please..." Lucy placed her hand over her future self's eyes and started sobbing. The others joined along with her, mourning the loss of one of their own.
Sora gently placed Future Lucy hand over her body before he slowly stood up with his face still shadowed.
"She wasn't even aware that she closed the door..." Future Rogue said dryly, unable to comprehend what had just occurred. "Such a shame..."
"What door?!" Lucy snapped at him angrily, tears trickling down her cheeks as she glared at the man. "I'd never do something like that! And you..."
"For now. But in a few hours, you will close it."
"I won't close the damn door!" Lucy screamed at the top of her lungs, not understanding why the man is being difficult. "You're talking nonsense, why the hell are you here!?"
"The door will be closed whether you like it or not." Future Rogue repeated, grinding his teeth together to tame his rising frustration. It was like talking to a bunch of children. "It will happen as long as you're alive."
"The Lucy from the future said she didn't close it!" The celestial mage bit back in retort. "I trust myself!"
"There is not truth in your words!" Angered by the girl's incompetence, Future Rogue started to summon his shadows that danced by his feet. "Everything is decided by fate!"
He rushed forward with the intent of silencing Lucy, but the hairs on the back of his neck stood up as he sensed a surge of incredible fury being directed at him.
Faster than anyone could see, a golden blur crashed into him so hard and fast that Future Rouge hardly had time to recover and avoid getting sent flying.
"Don't give me that bullshit...!" Sora growled as he punched him with all his might, an angry mark appearing on his forehead. "We decide how to live our lives by the choices we make! We don't need fate dictating that! And as of right now, you or anybody else, can stay the hell away from Lucy's future!"
"Sora...." Lucy whispered with tears rolling down her face.
An inferno of golden light blazed furiously, eating at the space around him with menace.
'Please...protect the future...'
Hot tears pouring down a face contorted in murderous rage and immeasurable anguish, Sora shot Future Rogue a glare of pure hatred.
"I will. I promise!"
Oh boy! Sora has officially snapped and has turned his eyes on Future Rouge. The battle will take place in the next chapter. Look forward to it. Comment on your favorite parts and don't forget to vote!
