Chapter Twelve ; The Anima
Master Makarov was worried the Coy Brothers would attack again, so everyone was back to work. He had assigned everyone one of three groups. Natsu, Wendy, Erza, Gray, Gajeel, Laxus, Juvia, Mest, Bickslow, Evergreen, Freed, Varian, and Mirajane were in the first group. They were training outside of the guild.
The second group was researching the brothers, this consisted of Lucy, Levy, Rain, Lisanna, Cana, Loke, Happy, Kinana, Carla, Elfman, Macao, Romeo, and Laki. Most were engrossed in books, while some of them fooled around.
The last group was scouting out the area and keeping the guild safe. This group held Gildarts, The Master, Pantherlily, Porlyusica, Bisca, Alzack, Wakaba, Droy, Jet, Max, Reedus, Nab, Vijeeter, and Warren. The master had decided that each group was going to switch their jobs every hour.
In group one, Natsu and Gray were battling, while Erza and Mira battled. The rest were practicing on dummies or trying out new spells. The second group wasn't talking much, they were taking notes and reading. The last group was on high alert, they didn't want someone sneaking into the guild hall and hurting another one of their family.
"Master, group two thinks they've found something." Romeo whispered to the short man. He nodded and told Romeo to stay and take his place whilst her found out what the group knew.
The man sat in front of the group with a questioning look. "Hurry, I left Romeo in my place."
Levy nodded and stood up,"There might be a way to contact Mystogan."
Makarov's eyes widened in surprise,"What?"
The blue haired girl nodded,"All we need is a memory of the Anima and Varian's magic."
"Give me more information, child." The master groaned.
"If we can give Varian a memory of the Anima, he can use his Mirror Magic to recreate it."
"How do you know it'll work?"
"Oh, the idea was courtesy of Rain. She told us about his magic and came up with the whole thing." Lucy smiled at the dark haired girl.
Makarov nodded,"Alright, I'll let Jellal know. He can tell the rest of Crime Sorciere. Oh! Time to switch." He told the group. They all got up and walked out to the back to let the other wizards know it was their turn.
"What? I wanna train more!" Natsu whined, but Erza grabbed his ear and dragged him to the front of the guild with the rest of the group.
The groups were now in different places, doing different things. Group one was defending the guild hall, group two was training, and group three was researching a way to extract memories. In the training group, Rain had already fought Levy, Lucy, and Lisanna. She had won and didn't think there was a reason to battle anyone, instead she was practicing new spells. Lucy and Levy were fighting each other, while Loke and Elfman fought. Carla and Happy were strengthening their wings by flying through an obstacle course and the others were training with dummies.
The researching group had found certain things needed to make a memory extraction potion. Porlyusica and Warren had gone off to find the items they needed so far. Some of these were The Raining Flower, the brain of a dolphin, and a needle.
The defending group was bored out of their minds, but glad that nothing had happened. They were ready to fight, but they were also tired. Erza stood at attention, making sure there was no suspicious activity on one end on the building, while Mira did the same on the other end.
It took them hours, but Porlyusica and Warren had gathered all materials for the potion. All they needed now was someone who had seen the Anima and was willing to have their memories extracted. Makarov gathered everyone, including Crime Sorciere, in the guild hall. "We have found a way to get to Edolas." He announced, causing cheers to erupt in the hall, but Makarov shushed them all. "But-"
Groans filled the hall,"we need someone who has seen the Anima to allow us to extract their memories and we need to ask Varian if he will do this." All eyes turned to Varian and Rain. Rain knew why, but Varian had no idea what was going on. "Varian, will you use your magic to mirror the anima?"
The silver haired man nodded,"But, I need to have seen it."
"Yes, Rain told us. You'll be the one given the memories." Master said. "Now, who will allow us to extract their memories."
There weren't many people they could ask for the memories, only the dragon slayers and exceeds had seen it. "Wendy, Carla, Natsu, Happy, or Gajeel?"
Wendy's raised her hand, shakily. "I'll do it." She whispered,"If it means we can get rid of those terrible people, I'll do it."
Makarov nodded, agreeing to let her do it, but Porlyusica hit the man. "There is no way we're letting that little girl drink this potion!" She screamed. "It'll hurt her!"
The short old man groaned and nodded,"Fine." he pointed at Natsu,"Will you do it, Natsu?"
Natsu was, surprisingly, paying attention to everything because it meant they'd be able to take down the Coy brothers. "Yea!" He pumped his fists. "If it means I can take down those chumps, of course!" The salmon haired boy pulled a triumphant grin.
Makarov gave the boy a worried look,"It may hurt." He warned
"So?" The onyx eyes wizard shrugged as he took a step toward the master and Porlyusica. Master nodded at Natsu and walked over to a seat, gesturing for him to sit in it.
"Sit here and drink this potion. We're going to tie you down because we don't know what might happen." The guild master was worried he may hurt his child. He looked over at the pink haired woman.
"It won't kill him, you old coop." She growled,"Do you think I'd give one of your children a potion that would kill them?"
Makarov sighed and moved away. Lucy watched with sadness in her eyes as Laxus and Erza tied the boy down. She wanted to stop them, but she knew they had to do this. If they didn't, they wouldn't be able to stop the Coy brothers. Mira put the bottle up to Natsu's lips and asked him to drink. Natsu opened his mouth and gulped down the red liquid,"I hope he'll be okay..." Muttered the blonde headed wizard.
Natsu's eyes started to flicker from onyx to red as his body shook as if he was having a seizure. The boy's arms pulled at his ropes and his head shook violently. He was like this for over three minutes, Lucy begged Mira to let him go but she refused. "We can't do that, Lucy! You know that!"
Lucy almost cried before Natsu stopped and seemed to pass out. A light mist seemed to creep up around him, which Porlyusica bottled some of. She gave everyone a gas mask so not everyone would breathe the mist in. "Done." She muttered, while Natsu was shaken awake. The salmon haired boy groaned as he was let go. He grabbed his forehead,"Ow..." Lucy smiled and hugged the boy.
"Don't worry me like that, Natsu!" She cried as she clung onto the boy.
"Ow... Lucy." He whined.
Porlyusica gave the bottle to Varian and asked him to sniff the mist, telling him that is would give him Natsu's memories. Varian nodded and opened the bottle just slightly and sniffed the mist. He seemed to pass out causing him to fall, but Rain caught him. "Vari? Vari?" She called to the passed out boy.
The memories invaded his mind, allowing him to see the Anima. The boy woke up with a sharp intake of breath. "Woah..." Rain looked at him confused.
"What?" The boy looked at her with worry.
"It's gigantic. I'll lose a lot of magic power..." He muttered something else, but Rain didn't hear it.
The silver eyed girl shook her head,"Then you are not doing it." She said.
The master looked at the two, but he didn't allow anyone to interject. Varian looked at the girl and shook his head. "No, I will do it."
Rain growled,"You could get Magic Deficiency Syndrome."
"I'll recover, even if I do. You know it's the right thing for me to do." Varian argued.
"No way, Varian. You can't do this," She whispered to him,"I can't lose you."
Varian smiled and hugged her,"You won't... I promise."
Once the two were done speaking, Porlyusica gathered the things she would need to treat severe Magic Deficiency Syndrome. Varian was being prepped to cast the large spell. Once everything was ready to cast the spell, the wizard's needed to get ready to travel to Edolas.
Everyone was training to not use magic, knowing that Edolas was now void of it. Meanwhile, a silver eyed girl stood in a dark corner with her things by her side. The girl watched as everyone prepared, but she didn't have to. No, she wouldn't have to prepare at all. Why? Because she wouldn't be there for the opening of the anima. Quickly and quietly, the girl snuck out the door and left, ready to go into hiding, once again. "You'll fit in perfectly here... Easily forget me..." She whispered as her shadow disappeared.
