The Wraith With An Offer
Miraak groaned, trying to rub the sleep from his eyes. While he had been looking up at the sky he dozed off. Sitting up now he rubbed his eyes once more, looking at the setting sun. It was already evening, meaning he had to head home. Perhaps Nashi and Igneel would be back, and at the house to celebrate with his parents. After all their fathers were great friends, so they spent almost every celebration at one home or the other. Walking along he moved his hair from his eyes, clearing up his vision.
"Do not go yet, blood of the Dragonborns blood." Turning Miraak held his hand to his dagger, his constant companion to the woods. "Whose there?" A flit of darkness in the corner of his eye made him turn, again looking for that voice. "A light, to illuminate your dark path as mage."
Now the figure stepped into plain view. It was a pale man, his face as if untouched by the sun. He was tall, thin. He bore armor, singed by flame, it's cloak and hood charred and ragged. "Who are you?" Again Miraak demanded, drawing the dagger and holding it at the ready. The figures eyes glowed, a benevolent and calming blue hue. "A spirit, my name lost unto myself in the ravages of time. But I know you, for I witnessed the deeds of your father." Sighing Miraak lowered the dagger. "I don't need you to speak of it spirit. I already know all about them, and what a disappointment I am to him for not being able to continue the family legacy." Looking downtrodden now Miraak did not notice the wraith vehemently shake his head. "I do not come for your father, I come for you, blood of Dragonborns blood! Miraak of Fairy Tail." Looking up Miraak stepped back, the spirit having closed the distance between them now to just a few feet. "Why? What can I offer you spirit? I have no magic." Again the spirit shook his head, this time calmly and slowly. "You are wrong boy. I have witnessed it, a great magic, welling in you. Destined to end a darkness that will engulf this land should you not act."
Miraak was intrigued now, never before had he been told he was some cosmic force, some key to peace. "Then why have I never had any magic potential." The spirit grumbled for a moment, then replied. "I do not know boy. But I have a way, that we may confront this darkness together." Miraak looked at the spirit, skeptical about this. "What is that then?" He asked evenly, his dagger ready as the spirit and him were face to face. "I join you in your body, acting as the catalyst for your power, and in exchange. You allow me a chance to destroy that darkness at your side." Miraak sighed, the temptation to power was too great, he wanted so badly to become someone that was a hero. And this spirit was offering that chance to him with only an offer of partnership. Sighing he held out his hand, which the spirit all too eagerly grabbed. "It is done. Welcome to the beginning of glory, Miraak of Fairy Tail."
