I brought the can to my mouth, tipping my head as I drank, the people around me talking and laughing. A white haired girl, Mira's sister, had joined us an hour ago and she was scolding the pink haired boy that was teasing her. Lisanna held a frown and Natsu held a sheepish smile.

I looked down on my soda, gripping in tighter as I held my blank face.

''Natsu!'' Lisanna whined, crossing her arms as she leaned forward, looking at him with a pout. '' Stop being a meanie!''

Natsu laughed and Mira chuckled.

''Ara, Ara.'' Mira said in a soft voice.

Apparently, Lisanna and Natsu has been friends since they were just toddlers, meaning that they were as thick as butter. I had friends as a toddler, but yeah, we know how that ended.

''I'm just joking, Lis.'' Natsu laughed.

''I know that.'' Lisanna said with a deep sigh. ''I swear, sometimes you act like a kid.''

Wendy giggled, smiling brightly before she turned to me, frowning.

Mama, How I wish you were here. If you were here, I wouldn't be in this school. I would be home, reading my book. I would be home with Spetto-san and my father wouldn't be working so much. Mama, I miss you so-

''Everything okay, Lucy?''

I snapped out of my thoughts, turning to Wendy.

''Yeah.'' I whispered.

''You know, you really are a shy girl.'' Wendy giggled. '' Just like me.''

I bit my bottom lip, looking up.

''You don't have to be shy.'' I whispered, making Wendy's eyes widen.

Erza turned to us and Lisanna stopped whining and got up in a straight position.

''I don't?'' Wendy asked, surprised.

''No, you are....nice.'' I whispered, looking at her with soft eyes, but my blank face remained. '' and cute.''

Wendy's face flared and she fisted her palms, hiding her face behind her hair.

''T-Thank you, L-Lucy!'' She exclaimed, looking up with a big smile.

I smiled slightly at her shyness but the smile faltered as I noticed everyone staring.

''D-Did I do something wrong?'' I asked them, my voice a little higher this time.

Natsu smiled and Mira brought me in a side hug, making me gasp.

''Thank you.'' Mira whispered, making my cheeks turn red.

''For what?'' I asked, fidgeting with the hem of my skirt.

''Wendy is a very shy girl with very few friends in her class.'' Mira explained, squeezing my shoulder. ''Hearing someone say that except us makes Wendy happy.''

I looked down, everyone smiling at me, even Gray and Gajeel.

''Welcome to Fairy Tail High, Lucy.'' Mira said, smiling friendly.

My throat dried and I hid behind my hair.

''Let's be friends, Ne.'' Levy said next to me, smiling brightly as I looked up, meeting everyone's stares.

I hesitated but nodded, giving them a closed eyed smile.

''Hai.'' I exclaimed, my chest and cheeks burning.

Natsu grinned and Lisanna smiled friendly, a hand placed on her hip.

Erza gave me a big smile and Wendy giggled.

Mama, I'm not alone anymore....

***

A man was standing in front of the coffin, speaking about all kinds of things, but the girl wasn't listening. Not even as the rain started to pour down. The rain caught the girl's hair and drenched it, and even then she didn't flinch.

Her father was staring at the coffin, tears visible in his eyes and his grip on the poor girl's shoulder tightened.

''This beautiful woman taught us love, friendship, We were taught how a family should be raised. This woman was a living proof of that there are still good people in this world. I can't name another woman that has been able to raise a family, work, go through hardships with just a single smile like this beautiful woman. That's why, I say goodbye old friend. I miss you.'' the man said, placing hand to his heart as he looked down with tearful eyes.

One after another, friends, family and maids walked up to the coffin, placing a rose on the closed lid. Jude grabbed his daughter's hand and together they walked to the coffin, the priest handing the girl a rose. The girl took It as the rain poured down her arm. The girl's stared at the rose with nothing but a blank look on her cold face.

Her mother loved roses.

Her father placed a kiss on the rose, a sob coming out from his mouth as he placed the rose on the coffin. The girl gripped the rose tighter, piercing her finger on the tine, blood oozing down from her small hand, and even when that happened, she stood unfazed. She placed the rose on the coffin as her father's knees gave out. He buried his head in the coffin, fisting his palms as he began to cry. The people around them also began to cry, but the girl just stared at the coffin with soulless eyes, a small tears making it's way down her eye and continuing down her cheek before it landed on the wet ground, emerging with the pouring rain.

It is indeed a cruel world.
