Chapter 4: Friends? Who needs them

In front of them stood a blonde haired girl, her chest long hair laying over her shoulders. She was wearing their uniform, her hazel brown eyes staring at the floor, not meeting any of the eyes that looked at her.

''Minna, This is Lucy, Lucy Heartfilia.'' Mirajane said, patting the girl on the shoulder.

Everyone gasped.

Heartfilia, as in Heartfilia Inc, the number one company on the market since two years ago. The owner's daughter was going to their school.

''It's nice meeting you, Lucy.'' Gildarts said, making the girl look up at him with a blank face.

She nodded before looking down again, striking everyone as her being shy.

I hate this. I fucking hate the attention.

I was currently standing in front of the class, my bag hanging from my hands. The silence was unbearable as they stared at me and I bit the inside of my cheek, tears stinging in my eyes. I didn't let them flow through my eyes so I looked down for the third time. My clothes I came in was in the bag and my bandages was showing more than ever and I really hated it.

''You and Mira can sit on the last row.'' Gildarts said and Mira took my hand in hers, making me flinch. She didn't notice though since she pulled me with her towards the last row, passing curious students. My eyes fell on a pair of black ones, his spiky pink hair going into different directions. He was looking at me with curiosity as I passed him and got down on the seat next to Mira.

The teacher began to speak, but I didn't listen. The anxiety inside of me was slowly eating me away and I was beginning to panic. I had never been in a classroom full of people in my age. Hell, I don't even know how to speak to people. This sucks.

The bell rang after forty minutes of torture and when it did, I slowly got up, pulling my bag with me.

''Come, I'll show you your locker.'' Mira said, giving me a closed eyed smile and grabbed my hand.

She really is straight forward and loves smiling. That is something I have discovered the time she showed me around and spoke to me and other students. She was nice to almost everyone she met and every time someone say hello, she would reply it with a big smile and a Good morning.

I, on the other hand, was quiet as a still standing breeze.

She pulled me out of the classroom, passing a few of my new classmates that looked at Mira with surprise. I was pulled through the hallways, down the stairs and she didn't drop my hand until we stood by a locker. She explained to me how to used it, even though I kind of new how, and then told me my code.

I really thought and hoped she would leave me then, but she didn't. She looked at me with a smile as I unlocked the locker and threw in my bag.

I closed it and turned to her, not knowing what to say.

''So, as the first person that have spoken to my, would you like to be my friend?'' Mira said, holding out her hand as if expecting me to grab it and jump up and down while yelling yes. I looked at it with tired eyes and sighed.

There is no other way to get rid of her is there?

I didn't have the chance to argue with myself on what to do as the bell rang again, calling in for the second class. Mira looked up, frowning, before she looked at me again with a smile.

''We'll talk later. I gotta go before I get late. See ya at lunch!'' She said and hurried off, waving at me.

I sighed in defeat, looking down.

This day is so weird.

***
Two classes and two tutoring hours later, I was sitting by the Sakura tree behind the school. I was sitting on my butt on a bench, staring at the flowers in wonder, my face still blank.

I had never seen such a beautiful tree up so close. Last time I saw one was at the Sakura celebration back home when-

I shook my head, looking down as I fisted my hands in my lap, my hair falling over my face.

What if I told my father that I was deadly sick? What if I told my father that I was home sick? Would I get to go home again? Doubt it.

I sighed, closing my eyes before looking up again, petals falling around me.

A pair of students was sitting on blankets, laughing and chatting, some even gossiping.

Friends? Who the hell needs them.
