Chapter Nine: Gray And Erza's Death Ceremony
I love this title...

Gray's POV:
"Erza, if we die, I just want to let you know that this is all your fault," I said, trying to find a way out of this prison.
Erza looked offended. "Oh, I'm sorry. Did you happen to forget that I was the one who saved you from a sword that was about to split your head into two?"
"Yeah, right," I said, not believing the words she was saying. "As if I would be dumb enough to get kill by some amateur guard with his lame swordsmanship."
Erza grumbled. "I should've let him kill you..."
"I heard that!"
"Hey! Keep it down in there! This isn't some place you hold an argument!" The prisoner next to us scolded.
"Oh, yeah? Make us!" I challenged her.
Erza gave me a nudge. "Gray, we really should be quiet. Everyone is staring at us."
I looked around the cramped room and saw a bunch of older-looking delinquents with eyes so sharp, it could pierce right through my heart. I then realized that all this commotion I was making got a little too far. Sighing, I sat down on the dirty-covered floor and crossed my arms.
Erza tried to hold back her laughter. "Aww, you look like a grumpy kid."
I grumbled quietly and saw the prisoner next to us also holding in her laugh. In all honesty, she didn't look like a prisoner. She looked too fragile and small to ever hurt anybody. It made me question how she even got here in the first place.
I tried to start a conversation with her. "How did you get here, anyway?"
The prisoner stopped laughing and was shocked at my sudden question. "It's none of your business."
"Sorry, I was just curious is all. You seem like a nice person, and it's hard for me to imagine someone like you to do something bad."
"Well... why don't you tell me how you got here, and I'll tell you how I got here."
"If you want to know how we got here, fine. We helped a person with high status leave his home, so he could venture out in the world. Apparently, it's a 'crime' to help someone in need." I could imagine his parents worried sick about him. He was supposed to remain indoors at all times, so that nobody could ever hurt him, but it wasn't right to isolate him forever. I knew that what I did was morally correct. "Your turn. How did you end up here?"
The prisoner sighed and looked me dead in the eye. "My husband was a good man. He told me that he loved me so much that there wasn't a woman in this world he'd rather be with than me." The prisoner clutched onto her ragged clothes to keep her hands from trembling. "One day, I saw him with another woman. I didn't think of anything at first, but when she was about to leave, he ran up to her and gave her one hell of a long kiss." Erza became interested in this topic and decided to join in. "I didn't want to believe it, but it took me a while to realize that my husband was a lying bastard, and I'll never forgive him for what he did."
"That still doesn't explain how you got here," Erza said.
The prisoner scoffed. "Isn't it obvious, though? Just guess."
"I'm not that smart. Just tell us."
"Erza, don't. It really is obvious what happened. Even though you're not the brightest person in the world, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that she killed the woman who was with her husband." I couldn't exactly empathize with the prisoner, because I've never been in this situation before, but I could sympathize with what she had to go through. If I saw the person I love with another man, I would never forgive her. Though, it must be hard. She may have killed the woman, but that shouldn't change her feelings for her husband.
"How do you know it was the woman I killed and not my husband?" The prisoner asked.
"You love your husband, despite the fact that he was unfaithful to you."
Hearing the sound of keys rattling, I shifted my focus and saw a guard opening our cell door. He unlocked the door and went inside with two guards following right behind him. The guard ordered us to stand up and place our hands behind our back, while they bind us with thick, itchy ropes.
"Levy."
I looked at the prisoner. "What?"
"My name. It's Levy McGarden."
I smiled at Levy. "That's a nice name."
The guard shoved us out of our cell and gave us a disgusted look, telling us to start moving. I gave him a grimace in return and started walking down the corridor. I looked at Levy once more and she gave me a smile, as if she was trying to tell me that everything was going to be okay. Oh, if only she knew what they had in store for us.
We were led outside of the jail and what awaited us was a crowd of people fuming with anger. The guards pushed the people out of the way and made room for us to walk through. In front of my eyes, I realized that the judgment was being held at the edge of the cliff. The guard kept pushing us, until there was absolutely no way for us to run.
"Erza Scarlet and Gray Fullbuster have been found to have been involved in the disappearance of Prince Natsu. We have a witness among us who is here to vouch for the criminals' actions." The judge looked to his side and saw the person he wanted to see. "Lord Silver, are you for certain that Gray Fullbuster and Erza Scarlet were responsible for the disappearance of the prince?"
Whispers could be heard among the people. I was the most furious out of all. I knew my father never loved me, but I never knew that he could be so heartless as to kill his only son. I should've known from the start that my father only cared about the well-being of his title rather than me.
"I saw it with my own eyes," Lord Silver said. "They are indeed guilty."
The judge nodded and proceeded to talk. "Then, in the name of justice, I sentence Gray Fullbuster and Erza Scarlet to death."
Everyone was outraged. People tried to push the guards out of the way to get to my father, but it was no use. They were all being held back by the royal guards.
The executioner, who looked intimidating as ever, held his axe in an attempt to nonverbally tell us to not run away from our punishment. He gestured for us to jump off the cliff and fall into our tragic demise.
I looked around, frantically trying to find a way out of this situation, but there was nowhere to go, but down the cliff. I took a deep breath and was the first one to walk. Erza blocked my way, not wanting to witness the death of me.
"What are doing?" I asked her. "Don't you see we've got no other choice?"
"Are you an idiot? Do you actually want to-"
The executioner pushed us with a mighty force, causing us to lose our balance and to fall right into the water. I closed my eyes and waited for death to come get me.
Yet, I didn't feel a speck of water.
