It's dark now and the snow is was falling, clumps of wet flakes drifting windlessly down, the air moist, the sidewalk mushy underfoot. You could hear the crunching sound of snow beneath your whenever you took a step. The harsh wind huffed cold wintery kisses across your cheeks. You felt your heart race. Will anybody will be able to find me?
You took refuge in an abandoned cabin. You'll be safe there for the night - or until it stopped snowing. Who knows how long that'll take. You were on a job with Team Fairy Tail, but the snowstorm spilt you all apart. You were walking with them and next thing you know you slipped and tumbled down a hill.
You heard the door slowly creak open and someone step in. You jumped underneath one of the tables. You knew it wasn't a good hiding place, but it was better than nothing. You clamped your hand around your mouth as your heart started to pound. Your entire figure was shaking. You could feel tears pricking at the edges of your eyes.
You heard of all the stories of people going missing on the mountains. There were bandits and kidnappers. There were also wild animals who stalked the mountains, waiting for their next meal.
Please don't come near me. Please don't come near me. You thought to yourself over and over again. Your heart was pounded against your chest, as if it was about to come out. However, the footsteps were starting to come closer. You closed your eyes shut, afraid of what's to come next.
To your surprise, you felt a flick across your forehead. You opened your eyes and you made eye contact with a pair of dark blue eyes.
"You're an idiot."
The raven-haired male was crouched down, knees bent so he'd be able to meet your eye level. He wore an annoyed expression, but you could see a hint of worry in his eyes. You felt a sense of relief wash over you. You let out a sigh and gave the raven haired man a smile. You wiped the tears quickly away from your eyes.
You suddenly felt the urge to gave him a hug.
There was joy in every moment as you tackled Gray into a bear hug. The male was caught off guard and fell to the ground. You fell down with him, laying on his bare chest. Despite being an ice-make Wizard, he radiated warmness. His touch somehow made the entire room feel warmer, despite the raging storm going on outside.
Gray was surprised by the hug, but eventually returned the kind gesture by wrapping his arms around you. His touch is warm and sends tingles up your spine. When you finally parted, you couldn't help but frown. You secretly wished that you were able to keep him wrapped around you like a sweater. You felt yourself grow hot at your thoughts, and pushed it to the back of your mind.
"What were you doing?" He asked. "Everyone was worried about you." His cheeks were slightly tinted pink.
"I slipped and fell down a hill. I wandered around for a bit and found this old cabin. I decided to stay here until the storm settles down a bit," You rubbed the back of your head sheepishly and grinned, "Sorry for all the trouble."
"It's fine. As long as you're alright. Let's go." He said. He got up, and turned around to exit the cabin.
"Wait no. Let's stay here." You blurted out. He turned around, and arched an eyebrow.
Embarrassed, your eyes darted about to think of something that would take his attention off you. Then your eyes fell on the window. It was mostly frosted over, but there was just one spot from which you could see outside clearly enough. Snow was still falling rapidly, and it didn't seem like it would end soon.
"The snowstorm doesn't look like it's going to end any time soon." You said.
"Yeah," he answered, following your gaze. "It doesn't look like it'll end until tomorrow."
"Mmm..." Your face began to heat up as a naughty little thing crept into your mind.
You were going to regret this, but your tongue had ideas of its own. "Well then, you'll need to do better to keep me warm for the rest of the night," you blurted out before you could stop yourself.
Gray was obviously taken by surprise, and his cheeks turned a little redder as he blinked at you, trying to register your words. It didn't take long for him to catch on though, and soon he crouched down to be closer to you, till you could feel his breath on your face once more.
"I think I can manage that," he murmured softly into your ear.
